  1. I know this is kind of a late post, but I haven't seen anyone post about what my seamstress did, and it worked out really well for me, so I thought it might still help other ladies out there. I had a sweetheart neckline, strapless, lace-up back dress for my wedding. I am usually a 34B but I have a long torso so if I don't wear some kind of push up bra, my breasts just look like they're hanging kind of low even though they really aren't. I was really concerned about what kind of undergarment I could wear with the dress - I'm not a huge fan of strapless bras but I wasn't sold on the sewn-in cups either - I couldn't really imagine how that would be supportive enough. The store that I bought my dress at has their own seamstress, and everyone who works there is very knowledgeable about all things wedding dresses. So when I brought up my concern about what to go with, they all recommended the sewn-in cups. The seamstress had these foam fabric cups with a little bit of push-up padding that she recommended. She went one size up to ensure that I would have the coverage I needed as well as the lift, and that worked out really well. The biggest thing was that she sewed the cups using three or four stitches along the top of each cup, so right along the inside of the sweetheart neckline. I initially thought that she hadn't sewn in the cups properly, but when I asked about it, she said it was done that way so that the cups could move with my movement. She showed me that they were indeed securely sewn in but still able to move around, say if I twisted my torso one way or the other. Brilliant! So getting into the dress meant positioning the dress at the proper height for my breasts, and then kind of pulling each one towards my sternum to get them in place in the cup. Then I had my bridesmaids lace up the corset and tighten it accordingly. This worked perfectly - I had enough push-up without it being too much, and danced the whole night away without any issues (at my destination wedding... lots of humidity and sweating!). It was really fantastic to not worry about a strapless bra and it was so comfortable. I would highly recommend this method for other brides!
  2. Hi! We used Photofacebooth (by photographer Cecilia Dumas) for our wedding on Isla Mujeres this past November. I found it on the expensive side, $600 for 2 hours and I think it was $200 per additional hour (we just went with the two hours), but it seems to be on par with what the other companies are offering. They do come with a whole table of props and two people to assist with the picture-taking - for example, it got a little windy during our reception so they were there to hold down the background curtains. I really liked the way they did things - after the three poses are taken, a 4x6 photo pops out with two identical strips of photos. The assistant cuts it in half, and the guest gets to keep one and the other gets glued in a keepsake book where the guest can write a few words. It was a really great alternative to a traditional guest book! Plus you get a USB with all the photos at the end of the night. We thought it was well worth it to have a photobooth and so did our guests!
  3. We think that our photographers, Michael and Jennifer of M and J Photography, are the best! They shot our wedding this past November on Isla Mujeres and a Trash The Dress photo session at a cenote near Playa del Carmen. We think they are the best because of a combination of things - their amazing talent (see some of our pictures below), professionalism, excellent value (you are essentially getting two photographers for the price of one!), and also their willingness to go the extra mile (meeting on Skype, promptly answering countless e-mails, lots of helpful suggestions for a stressed-out bride, pre-scouting shooting locations). It also helps that Michael and Jennifer are fantastic, friendly people and they genuinely care about doing an excellent job for you. We ended up getting over 600 incredible photos from them. Jennifer also did a private bridal boudoir shoot with the bride so we have some sexy pictures from that - Jenn and Tom
  4. We highly recommend our photographers, Michael and Jennifer of M and J Photography, to anyone who is looking for wedding photographers. They shot our wedding this past November in Isla Mujeres and a Trash The Dress photo session at a nearby cenote. We certainly feel that they are the best - a combination of their amazing talent (check out their website at http://www.mandjphoto.com/) and professionalism, excellent value (you are essentially getting two photographers for the price of one!), but also with their willingness to go the extra mile (meeting on Skype, promptly answering countless e-mails, lots of helpful suggestions for a stressed-out bride, pre-scouting shooting locations). It also helps that Michael and Jennifer are fantastic, friendly people and they genuinely care about doing an excellent job for you. During the wedding, Michael and Jennifer somehow managed to be barely noticeable as they took upwards of 800 photographs the results of which are beautiful, genuine photographs that truly captured the sentiment and emotion of the moment. When it came time for posed pictures (which the groom in this case is usually hates) Jennifer and Michael gave simple, easy-to-follow directions. Their amazing creativity and use of light resulted in some uniquely stunning photos as you can see below, all of which were captured with ease and efficiency (which made for a happy groom!). And if you have the time, we highly recommend that you try a cenote photo shoot as well. Michael and Jennifer picked a gorgeous location, were very accommodating in trying to work out the perfect day and time, and were more than willing to help us set up transportation there from the island. The entire experience was something we would never forget, even if we didn’t have some spectacular underwater pictures to adorn our home as a constant reminder! Since we’ve sent out our wedding photos to friends and family, we’ve received a torrent of incredible responses, many saying that they are some of the best photos they have ever seen, and we certainly feel the same way. You can be sure that Michael and Jennifer will make you and your wedding day look absolutely incredible! - Jenn and Tom
  5. You're welcome - I totally understand how you feel! I wish I'd found this website before my wedding
  6. Hi Future Mrs Warner, I am the first bride in the response from M and J Photo. I used Anne Marie for the wedding and my cenote TTD session and she was incredible. She and her team were very professional (I hired her to do my hair and makeup, and her junior stylist to do my two bridesmaids' hair and makeup) and as you can see from the pictures, did a great job. She used airbrush waterproof makeup from Make Up Forever - it stayed on all night and also again throughout the underwater TTD session. She's originally from Quebec (as are my husband and I) so we really hit it off. She's based on Isla Mujeres (a little island just off of Cancun) but I am sure that she'd be willing to come to you. I don't wear makeup on a daily basis, have straight short lashes and a monolid so I was also concerned about finding someone who would know how to work with my face, and she made me look amazing and natural on the big day. I took a chance and didn't do a trial session, but I did send her lots of pictures of things I liked and didn't ahead of time, and I also went to her salon the day before to have my nails done, so we were able to have a more in-depth chat about what I liked and didn't. She wanted to Skype with me ahead of time but the timing just didn't work out. Anyway, I highly recommend her and feel free to message me if you have any other questions. Jenn
