  1. Agreed! I am not having extra wedding cake either. I would like to have everyone have the opportunity to do a champagne toast at the ceremony and I feel it should be included for all our guests.. I am also considering skipping dessert options during dinner.. We aren't dessert folks and I feel the wedding cake is just fine. I wonder if the desserts at the end of the meal could be substituted for something... We are going with the Eternity package which will keep the costs down a little also.. I knew there would be some add ons and additional meals and with the tax and tip it's $60 per person for dinner.. So that adds up quick!
  2. Thank you for clarifying that! We were thinking of having our legal ceremony done close to our actual ceremony/destination wedding beforehand. We are having the ceremony on January 16th. But, considering it is so close to Christmas and we will be busy getting ready for our wedding I am thinking after might be better. I have been thinking about it a lot and I feel as though it would feel more official if we were to do our legal ceremony/ "paperwork" after getting back to Canada.
  3. I was curious to know if anyone is considering having their legal ceremony done after their wedding ceremony at Now Jade? We are having a symbolic ceremony done on the beach but are thinking of coordinating our legal ceremony after coming back from Mexico in Ontario Canada to be exact. Can this be done? Or do you legally need to be married before having a symbolic ceremony in Mexico? Does any paperwork need to be brought in order to have a symbolic ceremony at Now Jade?
  4. We are skipping the cocktail hour so we have an additional 4 dinners instead. I wasn't aware that guests can't get drinks elsewhere in the hotel?? Why wouldn't the staff allow guests to do that? If they are paying for an all inclusive stay I don't see why it would matter if they are in their beach wear or wedding attire? This is concerning..
  5. Have you thought about having your reception in the Castaway Restaurant? It will be a private, have the outdoor feel, it has a bar inside and the dancefloor is a good size. Dancing is huge for us and we wanted to be able to comfortably do so and that's one of the main reasons we chose Castaway.
  6. Well it's been surprising because some of our guests we thought would book right away didn't and may not be able to come after all.. Since our engagement we told all of our friends and family we are planning a destination wedding.. So they could get used to the idea. Then when we found a travel agent we had very little time to notify everyone so we had to send out an email.. Which isn't at all what we were wanting to do.. But, if we didn't we wouldn't get in on an early booking fee.. Prices have already gone up since then.. So for those that booked they will save $200 or so each.. I feel that those that know can take the time off and want to ensure booking with us it was the way to go. It was stressful though let me tell you. Just about everyone waited until the last 2 days!
  7. Hi Trisha. http://www.tableclothsfactory.com/tablecloths-Table-Linens-Chair-Covers-Sashes-s/4.htm this site is great! Eventhough I said I wasn't going to I changed my mind once I came across this sites prices! I got chair sashes and table runners from them and it will be much cheaper then renting at the resort. I am not sure if the resort does have coloured tablecloths come to think of it.. Hope this site helps
  8. We are getting married on the 16th of January departing on the 12th.. So I was thinking around mid November to RSVP.. It would be 2 months prior to departure but it would also allow me to get everyone's dinner choices before I have to send off the final paperwork which is due 45 days prior to the wedding that Pilar expects.. It that too soon? I just don't want to leave it too close because I want to get my paper work to Pilar and make my wedding programs and name cards, seating chart..
  9. Good to know that you! I am thinking scallop and mahi mahi and chicken (from the glutan free menu) and for those that are vegetarian give them the vegetarian option. Thanks!
  10. Oh... I just read this now.. So perhaps we could do the scallops and mahi mahi, chicken from the glutan free and then a vegetarian option?
  11. Ya that makes sense.. Neither one of us are big on pork... I might just ask if I can leave that option out and choose the 2 glutan free options instead? That might work..
  12. Yes! It is so hard to say at this point what our final number will be. When the early booking came close to an end I was worried we weren't gonna be able to get many people to book. Now we are around 40 and I am content with that number.. That being said I know there are friends of ours thinking about booking last minute.. (which I am not too happy about) only because I would like to have a better oversight of who is coming and who is having what for dinner so I can arrange a seating chart and hammer out the details when the time commes. I don't want to leave everything until last minute because people are trying to get a deal... Anyone else feeling like this right now? I know that the dinner choices need to be in 45 days prior to departure and I am going to try and politely let those that are planning on booking last minute know..
  13. Glad I am not the only one that thinks so. That's a good idea! We have decided to axe the cocktail hour.. it gives us an additional 4 meals for dinner and we need to cut cost where possible.. All these add ons are really adding on!
  14. Oh and I should add.. Are the 2 Gluten Free Menu options and the 3 Vegetarian Menu options available in addition to the 2 Eternity Menu Options? I would prefer to keep it simple and allow our guests to choose from 3 options.. I don't see the need in having the dessert as part of the dinner.. None of our guests care for dessert and given that there will be wedding cake.. Has anyone chosen not to have dessert with their dinner? Can it be substituted for something else?
  15. Does anyone happen to now if there are alternitives/different dinner choices for the Eternity Package? Our choices for our main course are Scallop and Mahi-mahi wrapped with Bacon served in a Beurre Blanc Cajun style Sauce and Mixed Vegetables or Pork Tournedo Medallion with Smoked Prosciutto, Sweet Potatoes and Honey Puree with a Mushroom Sauce Has anyone tried either one of these dishes? Any feedback or a picture would be much appreciated
  16. Can you email these to me please? [email protected] Much appreciated! Advil Labels.doc Immodium.doc
  17. Hi Linday, I did send an email to my travel agent and explained my concerns and she told me to contact the Mexican Embassy. After reading the link that Khunt provided I feel that it shouldn't be an issue.. I just can't see them turning people away for a wedding.. As long as you have a valid passport, permanent residency card and no criminal charges..
  18. Thank you for this! I feel much better. I am going to contact them but I don't forsee having any issues entering. I have a Canadian Permanent Residency which is also mentioned on the website.
  19. Can you send it to me please [email protected] Much appreciated!!! NOW JADE DINNER LOCATIONS.pdf
  20. PLEASE CHECK YOUR PASSPORT AND MAKE SURE IT IS VALID FOR SIX MONTHS AFTER WE LEAVE FOR THE TRIP. THIS IS A MEXICAN RULE, AND THEY WILL NOT LET YOU IN. Check it while you read this, so nobody is scrambling for a 24hr rush passport. Jeff may or may not have had to do this before. Yikes! Is this really true?????????????????????????????????????????????????? We are arriving on January 12-26. We are flying out of Ottawa, Canada and my passport expires mid May 2014. I have a European passport because I still have my Dutch citizenship. In order for me to get a new passport it would be really time consuming and a waste of money considering I will be getting a last name change and Canadian passport after that also..
  21. I would go with a nude shoe.. That is what I am doing for my girls. It will look good with any of the dresses and they can wear them again.
  22. Great question I would like to know this also.. Are you getting married on the beach?
