Im going to order invitations soon and im thinking of mailing them out beginning of january and asking for the RSVP by March 1st. Our wedding is may 16th.. does this timing sound about right? For past brides or any brides to be.. has anyone not given the dj a set list of songs and just let them wing it? I am going to give a few specific songs that must be played like our wedding song and mother son and father daughter dances but I am just soo bad with remembering names of songs and artists... Im thinking about just telling the DJ the type of music we like and hopefully they will just play good songs? I dont know if this is risky to do... any suggestions? OHHH and one more thing.. where are you ladies planning on going for your honey moon if you plan on leaving now jade? I want to move onto a different resort still in riviera maya area for about 5 or 6 days to honeymoon but not sure where to go. Hi Emma, I am getting married at Now Jade May 17, 2014! Woohooo. I also feel like time is flying, and I really haven't done much aside from sending out Save the Dates, getting my wedding dress, and getting my bridal party booked. I am planning to get my Invites out at some point in November - December and I'd like to have the RSVP by probably February. I just want to know what's going on a little bit early. As far as the honeymoon is concerned, we haven't booked yet but we are thinking about El Dorado Resort & Spa. We are only going to stay for 3 or 4 nights because of we are spending 6 nights at Now Jade. Have you had much contact with Pilar or anyone from the Now Jade resort yet? I haven't had any, but I figure I still have time. Mandy
  2. I am pretty sure that is the case. My Travel Agent who has a long standing relationship with Pilar and NOW jade told me that it is 3 days for symbolic and 4 days otherwise. However, if you have everything covered with Pilar, then I'm sure she would tell you if there was an issue.
  3. For symbolic, you have to arrive 3 days prior to the ceremony : )
  4. Michelle, I don't know anything about that travel agency, but the destinationweddings.com people are awesome, and definitely legitimate. I have known other people who have used them for DWs, and said they couldn't do it without them. Hope this helps : )
  5. Nice! Yeah, I ended up going with the Pergola as well..I liked the idea initially of going barefoot, but I've heard the beach is a bit rocky so we are all gonna have to rock some heels. I ended up going with Castaways. Happy Planning!
  6. Hey ladies, I am looking at photographers right now, and I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations. I am really working within a tight budget but to me, the most important part of the wedding is the photography and I'm not sure I'm satisfied with Adventure Photos. I did contact Del Sol which was WAYYYY out of our price range. I also contacted Derek with Photos in Cancun and Gonzalo Nunez who were a bit more affordable.Does anyone have any recommendations? I just contacted Sascha Gluck as well. I would like to do about six to seven hours of photography on the day of to cover getting ready all the way through most of the reception. I was also thinking of doing a TTD the next day. My budget for this is probably about $3500. I also have the Divine package which includes photography, but I'm not sure what that covers. The only info it provides is that you get 24 photos. Does this just cover photography for the actual wedding ceremony? I was confused about that as well. Anyone have prior experience with using both an outside photographer and the resort photographer since it comes with the package?? Does anyone know what NOW Jade charges to bring an outside photographer? Is that the same as the wedding day pass ($55 I think)?? Also, has anyone had an experience with Adventure Photos (the resort photogs)?? I can't find any links to weddings they've done, and if I can't find anyone within my budget, I may just end up using them!! Thanks girls
  7. Just got my official confirmation e-mail from Pilar, and I couldn't be more excited!!
  8. Oooohhh okay. That's pretty reasonable. I was gonna go with the $1500 photo package anyways so that is very reasonable. I just haven't heard many great reviews on the resort photographer. So if you have a separate photographer, are there other fees to bring him to the resort??
  9. Can someone tell me what FI means?? Is that an abbreviation (future something) or is it short for fiance and pronounced "fee"?? LOL
  10. Snoopy, I've heard that as well. It's kind of like your still outside which is really nice. I know you can rent fans from the resort too but that's just one more cost that I don't need. I def like the idea of AC!!
  11. KHunt, You rock. Thanks for all the advice. What is the pricing with "PHOTOS IN CANCUN"? Is it less expensive than the resort or did you just like his work better? Regarding the fire dancers, are they regularly at the resort? If they will already be there, I'm not gonna pay the extra cost but I def want my guests to enjoy them. Thanks for the info on the dance floor. That was super confusing to me. I am definitely going with the Pergola. I'm still a bit confused about castways vs bamboo room, but AC is a huge factor!!
  12. KHunt, Thanks so much! That's great advice. I didn't even think about how silly that would look. That's a great idea.
  13. Hey Emma, I have a bunch of wedding info on NOW Jade. If you like I can send you some to your email.
  14. Ok, these are my last questions for sure... 1) Is Del Sol photography the resort photographer?? I noticed most pictures posted here on this BDW thread are Del Sol, and they are amazing! If not, does anyone have price quotes? 2) Any info on firedancers from anyone who has had them? Price? How long they perform? 3)What is the purpose of adding "the dance floor" to the package?? Does this mean sectioning off an area for dancing or is this mainly for outdoor receptions where there is no "floor"?? Super confused on this one! Thanks! Sorry in advance for the five billion questions.
  15. Bamboo Room vs. Castaways?? Pros & Cons?? Also does anyone have any insight between the beach & pergola?? They are both gorgeous! I can't decide : (
  16. Una mas pregunta Does anyone know whether you can get alcoholic room service at NOW Jade? My parents recently went to Dreams Riviera for a wedding, and said they were literally rolling out of bed and ordering champagne to the room. Is this a farce or a dream come true?! One of my visions for the big day is to have all my bridesmaids getting ready together with a mimosa bar handy or at least some cocktails? Is there room service for this or would this be a separate charge through Pilar?
  17. Question-- How many bridesmaids is too many bridesmaids?? My girls are super important to me, and I think I have more than the average number of bridesmaids. I wouldn't be concerned but we are going with the Pergola, and I was wondering if anyone knows how many will fit on my side without looking insane? I will probably end up with 8. Thanks ladies!
  18. Shannon, That makes me feel so much better! I had the exact same thoughts. I always saw myself having a wedding on the beach, but there is still the beautiful backdrop of the water so the pictures should turn out awesome. I don't know very much about Castaways either, but the travel agent I'm working with highly recommended it. She said they do an awesome set up for the receptions. I can't wait!
  19. Nice Shannon! Thanks a bunch. I am working with Destinationweddings and the travel agent I am working with recommended Castaways as well so I think that is what we are going with. She wasn't sure about the DJ part, so thanks for letting me know. Do you have any insight on whether to do a ceremony on the beach or at the pergola? I really like both settings. I originally wanted to do the beach, but I was told the beach is a little rocky and everyone would need to wear shoes (might be kind of hard to walk on the beach in heels!).
  20. I am the newest official NOW Jade bride- may 17, 2014! Can't wait!! Does anyone have any advice on ceremony locations. I am thinking either the beach or the pergola. Does anyone have advice on this? Also, we were thinking of doing the reception at Castaways. I read on the Now Jade info that you can't have music in a restaurant? Does anyone know anything about this? Does Castaways allow a DJ for the reception? Dancing is a must!! Thanks ladies, Mandy
  21. Hola Brides, I am looking at a May 2014 wedding date, and am torn between the Now Jade/Sapphire properties and the Azul Sensatori property. Anyone have any advice on this?
  22. Does anyone have any info on these places? The travel agent I've been working with highly recommends NOW Jade. I really love Moon Palace, but it may be a bit out of the price range. Anyone have any advice?
  23. I am working with a travel agent to find the perfect resort for a May 2014 wedding. My fiance and I really like Moon Palace..Does anyone know anything about this resort?
  24. I just got engaged on Thanksgiving 2012, and my fiance and I are working with a travel agent to plan a destination wedding on May 17, 2014. Anyone had an experience with Moon Palace, good or bad?? I'm pretty sure this is the one we are going to go with.
  25. Does anyone know what a reasonable amount is to expect guests to have to pay for all inclusive resort for 5 nights + airfare. I'm trying to keep it under $1500/person, but am unsure if this is reasonable or not. Any help would be greatly appreciated
