  1. The pools looked like they were communal but there were only 3 maybe 4 rooms that had access to the pool. We never actually saw anybody in them either! The grand section is the most recently renovated section and although the whole hotel was amazing this was the nicer section and the rooms are double the size of the rooms at the other section. It is quiet though and you have to walk or get a buggy to the other sections for more restaurants/pools and things to do. There are obviously restaurants and pools at the grand section though. With regards to sea view rooms with a lot of the rooms at this section they face away from the sea, although I suppose there may be the odd one that does but you are certainly not seafront like some in the other sections. There are mosquitos. I tried to use the kodak photos for the Italian restaurant on the evening of our wedding but they were unfortunately not shifting on this. I personall spoke with Kodak our co-ordinator & the wedding photographers but no luck. Shan is correct, they try very had to accommodate everything a bride/groom want but on this occassion it didn't go anywhere. Just wanted to be honest. Our wedding time was changed from 2pm (after our original request of 4pm) to 3pm about 4 weeks before the wedding, upon arriving at resort this was then changed to 3.30pm but this was because we wanted to change our location and there was wedding before us. I had the ususal doubts etc like any other bride but they really were fab and everything went just how we wanted it to.
  2. Hi just returned from my wedding at the moon palace and read your thread. We stayed at the grand section of the resort and there are definately rooms with pools on the ground floor. The rooms at this Grand side are considerably bigger than the rooms at the other sections and have the day beds and table/chairs. If staying at the other sections you do not get the space that a lot of people like on the balcony and are probably the smalles balcony's that we have ever seen however you do get hammocks on the balcony at the sunrise. Family stayed in the neizuc and none of the had these there. You can currently spend $500 at the spa/beauty salon on hair, makeup, mani, pedi, meke-up etc etc. I decided against having a hair and makeup trial but on my wedding day I didregret it slightly. The makeup was amazing but even after showing the stylist 5 or 6 pictures of how i wnated my hair it still wasn't quite what I wanted, all beit it was still very nice, looking back I would have definately had the hair trial. With regards to the building works it is still going on and in pretty much every section. This did not effect our holiday/wedding in any way as there are only sections of each section having the building works done. I suppose like anything there will be people that will complain about this and I soon as I knew i was on the phone to the tour operator but I can assure you that it really didn't disrupt anything at all and the resport is so big that you kind of don'e realise that it's happening. What people need to bear in mind is that this resort is so big that once they have completed something at one of the sections they need to start at another. They actually closed down one of the snack bars while we were there replace the roof, floor tiles and painted all within 48 hrs!! Any other questions just let me know and I will try and answere anything as best I can.
  3. Hi, I have had management deal with this for me as I wasn't happy at all! The have confirmed (in writing) the following: $460 government fee - which do include blood tests - $40-60 for translation of docs & in addition £30 for each document that need stampting by the britigh foreign office. Its the first we knew of this! Apparently we have to post any oroginal and then the send them back stamped - I presume saying they are true original etc etc! I have however received an email from a lady I have been dealing with who wants a list of any extras we want in Mexico and it show: $300 - administrative/ Government fees (Legal ceremony) & $49 - translation of marriage licence. Im now confused again lol! Who have you been dealing with in Mexico? we have only 11 in total including us and 3 kids! So far we haven't booked any add-ons - and don't think were going too. We were hoping to use the resort credits for photos but they have stopped you being able to use them on photos over the last few month :-( Was hoping to get the cocktail hour too and we have 10 or more guuest (including us) so was advised that we were eligable however she has sent me an invoice charging $1000 + anpother $500 for an additional hour! Do you know how many night you need to have to qualify for this? Was then just going to have a meal.......and lots & lots of alcohol lol xxx
  4. Hi, after reading this i have emailed them in order to get everything in writing. I spoke to the lady that I have been dealing with since Feb and she assured me it is all we had to pay aas when we recently received the email regarding the cost i rang having a heart attack lol! I will let you know her 'in writing' responce as soon as she emails me back! We fly out on the 26th Feb and have been allocated the 7th March. So we will probably see each other :-) do you know what time you are getting married and where? Do you have many guests flying out with you? xx
  5. Hi, myselfand my partner are also getting married at the moon palace & have also been advised of this new change and the further hidden fees chrges. I have however called Thomas Cook and they have assured me that the $460 includes bloods and translation of docs etc and that there are no other fees payable. Have you been told something different? We too wanted to have a wedding abroad to make it easier but I have tosay i feel its a bit of a nightmare!! When are you getting married?
