  1. I am sure that I have read this somewhere on this thread, but I didn't want to go back through the 413 pages again to find my answer. Is Rashel Edwards the hair and makeup person at the resort? If not, do you have to pay the vendor fee for her? How much does she charge for hair and also for make up?
  2. Does anyone know if the resort will work with you on the style of the wedding cake? I don't want any of the frosting decorations or whatever you call them on the cake. We would like just a plain cake with a couple of flowers on top and some ribbon at the base of each tier. Also, do you know if we can request to skip the dessert that is included with dinner and sub it for an extra tier on the cake?
  3. The $1700 includes dinner. However, I am sure that if you go over a certain number of people they will start charging for each additional person. Not sure what that number is though.
  4. Hi there! My fiance and I ultimately decided on GBP because we liked the packages they offered (we are going with the Unforgettable Package), the wedding location (Gazebo) appears to be private, and the price of the resort for a week was within our budget. More about the wedding location... originally my fiance and I were determined to get married in Negril because that is where the best beaches are and we wanted the best beach possible. The main resort we were considering was RIU Tropical Palace. We ended up deciding against this because of the fact that the beach is public. We watched a video on YouTube of a wedding at the RIU Tropical Palace and it was AWEFUL; no privacy at all! There were people walking in the background, people stopping in the background to watch, people lounging in their swimsuits 10 feet away, etc. If we are going all the way to Jamaica to get married then we expect a beautiful back drop and nothing else. And then we debated between RIU Ocho Rios, Grand Palladium, and Gran Bahia. RIU Ocho Rios has the gazebo on the beach, which could hide some of the foot traffic and it appeared as they blocked off the area a little bit in photos and videos we watched, but still not as much privacy as we was hoping. Plus, RIU's wedding packages were just lame to us. HAHA! Lastly, we chose Gran Bahia over Grand Palladium because it had better reviews, it was closer to some of the excursions we want to do (such as Dunns River Falls), the beach looks better in pictures and reviews have said it is nicer, and the wedding packages were more what we were looking for. SOOOO prices I received for renting out the venues for the private reception are as follows: Indoor reception (Garden Grill or Dolce Vita): $2500 and includes DJ for 4 hours Outdoor reception (Pisces aka Snack Bar or Beach): $1700 and includes DJ for 4 hours Gazebo (for dancing): $500 and includes DJ for two hours Hope some of this helps!
  5. YOUR PHOTOS ARE AMAZING AND YOU LOOK STUNNING!!! Any chance you can post the photos from the resort photographer as well? Would really REALLY appreciate it! Thanks!
  6. Another question, SORRY! So I was thinking that I would want petals/flowers covering the walkway up to the gazebo, however, I have heard that it is VERY windy at the gazebo. Is this true? If so, then the flowers on the walkway might be pointless because they would blow away before I got there lol LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK!
  7. Thanks for the info JayKay! Another question I have for you, I think I read somewhere in this forum that you said you didn't rent out the Gazebo afterwards and instead went to the poolside bar where they have a band... is that correct? Do they have a band there every night? Jules, did you use the resort photographer?
  8. Can anyone tell me how big the gazebo is? We are thinking about renting it after dinner for the dancing and will have around 30-ish people. Is it big enough?
  9. I would also be interested in a Grab Bahia Principe in Runaway Bay webinar!
  10. MelB, How awesome! What time is your ceremony? Did you already fill out that wedding set-up sheet? If so I might need your help with some of it! Let me know. Thanks! And just to apologize a head of time, I will probably be picking your brain
  11. My fiance and I are confirmed for November 13, 2013!!! SOOO EXCITED! Still lots of questions though... My big question right now is whether it is worth it to have a private reception for a group of 30-ish people? Let me know what you ladies think! THANKS!
  12. Hi everyone! I just joined Best Destination Weddings and have been researching and reading reviews on Iberostar Rose Hall Suites all night (I work graveyards). My fiance and I recently got engaged, and we are shooting for a destination wedding in 2013. After doing research online on locations and resorts everyday since then, I think I have come to decide to that I have got my heart set on Jamaica and Iberostar Rose Hall Suites. I have a couple of questions for all of you 2013 IRHS brides: If your destination of choice has always been Jamaica, what other resorts were in the running prior to deciding on Iberostar Rose Hall Suites? And ultimately, what about those resorts made you pick Iberostar Rose Hall Suites? Thanks for listening, and I look forward to all your insight! Jenna (This is where I meant to originally post, so I apologize if you have to read this more than once.)
