  3. Hi Janelly I have worked twice at this church, I can tell you what you need to incorporate the "Mexican traditions" to your wedding ceremony if this is what you wish for ! Arras: One of the most unique traditions in a Mexican wedding is the giving of "Arras"- gold or silver coins given by the groom to the bride. Thirteen gold coins are presented; they are each blessed by the priest presiding over the ceremony. The 13 coins represent Christ and the 12 apostles, and symbolically refer to the groom's commitment to support, provide and care for his bride. Lazo: (lasso) As part of the ceremony to symbolize unity, a large loop of rosary beads or a lasso (cord) is placed in a figure eight (infinite) shape around the necks of the couple after they have exchanged their vows. A special person/couple places the lasso around the shoulders of the bride and groom. The couple wears the lasso throughout the remainder of the service. This symbolizes' the couples union and unbreakable bond of their love and trust. At some point of the ceremony, the lasso is removed by either the person which placed the lasso on the couple, or the priest. Ramo: (an extra bouquet of flowers) almost at the end of the ceremony the priest will ask you to the do the presentation of flowers to Mary through prayer and the laying of the bouquet. Biblia: A Bible to be blessed by the priest. If you decide to don't incorporate this traditions on your wedding day, you only need to let know to the priest that you don't have any of this items, and he will skip this steps of the Ceremony. Good luck in your planning!
