  1. No surprises - you just have to inquire about costs on most things - the lights/dance floor/dj/sound are not included in the package, and are quite pricy. Make sure to clarify about ages of children for the cost of the banquet if you don't qualify for free - its worth checking out upgrading rooms vs paying per person outside of the package as described in previous posts.. for us it was about the same so we are paying for the extra guests and children, not to mention the hassle of upgrading rooms. (also - we inquired about a separate menu for kids under 6 as they wouldn't eat a 3 course meal and are getting the kids menu for that age free, but have to pay half price for older kids, which isn't a big deal as there are only a couple) There are also external vendor charges for hair/makeup/photographer etc - so be careful - we are bringing our photographer but she is a guest, so we are not paying the fee, and we are using the spa at the resort for hair/makeup - we got quotes from external and it was very expensive. Don't be afraid to ask questions and to clarify costs.
  2. I've been working with Melina now, she's a dream - so prompt and you can ask her anything, she is very accomodating! Good luck with your planning! Just make sure you clarify the costs for everything so there are no surprises - we are into the final countdown - wedding date is Feb 27th!
  3. I don't know about the dj - we are thinking of just creating our own play lists. I did find out that for the meal, 6&under is free of charge, and they have meal options for the kids to choose from such as pizza, chicken fingers, burgers and fries - I was a bit worried about paying $35/plate and ending up with kids eating buns! Then 7-12 would be $35/plate. I got sent a different document with meal choices than what is on their website, which was a relief as the one on the website didn't look like it would appeal to a wide variety of guests - now we don't know what to choose! They are including pressing of the dress if needed, and said that they are updating the document with flower arrangements. 76 days to go!
  4. I got an email back from Deyanira stating that drinks are included in the $70 or $80/person reception fee. They have also indicated that children are 50% of the cost, but I'm not sure what ages that includes.. does anyone know? What about young children - ie 3 and under?
  5. Hi ladies, I do have a copy of the lights/sound pricelist if anyone would like a copy they can email me at [email protected] What we have learned so far: You can hold your reception at one of the a la carte restaurants at the resort - the WC indicated that the cost of the meal at one of the restaurants is included? Not certain if this is for all guests that are staying at the resort or if she means the 10 people included in the wedding package. Cost per person outside of the package on the beach is $70 for a 3 course meal, $80 for a 4 course meal. At the a la carte it isn't a private function and she recommended having everything privately on the beach. She indicated that we can customize the package that we choose, as I am planning on making my own brooch bouquet, and we are bringing our own photographer - I did mention this but she didn't comment if there are additional fees? Does anyone know their policy on outside photographers? I found that she wasn't responding to my emails at first - then we connected briefly via skype, and now we email back and forth daily - I'll ask some questions and then I'll get an email back the next morning - so this is going well based on what I've read! Lastly - I also have a link to a lot of pictures of the resort/weddings/restaurants/etc that she sent me that you are welcome to request from me - just send me your email and I will forward it on!
  6. Hi ladies! I'm happy to have found this thread - we are planning on booking Feb 27, 2013 (not leaving us much time I know, its just what works best for us and our familes). I just sent Deyanira back the form about our preferences for the wedding - she said that this is what I need to "book" the date? We still have lots of questions at this point as far as ceremony/reception locations costs etc. But are really hoping to keep it very laid back and not worry about all of the little details - from what I've read about Deyanira she is fantastic and I am looking forward to working with her! For those of you who have booked already do you have any suggestions? At this point we are not working through a travel agent - we are just north of Calgary, Alberta and have found prices through expedia or through CAA/AMA with westjet to be much better than through a TA. I have contacted the hotel and they have lots of rooms available so I'm not too worried - we are sending out hotel/booking info to our guests tonight, with the suggestion that they get on it asap. Could those of you above with info about flowers/centerpieces/ dance floor rentals etc please send me the info? [email protected] Thanks so much!
