  1. My planning is a breeze. Well, with only 14 persons invited and up to 4 expected there is not a lot to worry about. ;)

The date is booked, the invitations are sent out.

Got the reception dress this week. Not alternations needed! Will order the ceremony dress next week.

    Still have to:

    - Order FI linen shirt, pants and shorts

    - Choose rings

    - Choose/write vows

    - Make my birdcage veil

    - DIY bouquet and bout

    - Buy new camera and book rental lenses

14 weeks to go and I'm not stressed even a bit. The last month is going to be crazy though with all the final touch ups!

Attempt #2. The pic of my dress. The skirt is a bit more ruffled than the original and it is a bit longer than I asked the seller. But the dress fits me perfectly, it's so comfortable and nicely lined inside.

  3. My DHL Santa just delivered my reception dress! It's a replica of Pronovias Finlandia. Ordered a custom size on DHgate from charm_baby. The skirt looks a little bit more ruffled than the original, the beading on the belt is rather different and the dress is a little bit longer than I asked. But overall I am really satisfied with it (expecially for the price!). And it's also so comfortable and nicely lined inside.

  4. Anyone on here made their own? We're bringing ours and found some really great looking "fake" flowers at a craft store here. Now I just have to figure out how to put them together! Do you just slap on some floral tape then wrap it in the ribbon you want?
I'm making my own bouquet. It's going to be a hybrid of seashell, pearl/crystal and artificial flowers. I google all the techniques. And I expect it all to come nicely together after a couple of attempts.

    Hi girls,

I'm reading this blog for days and I want to thank all of you for the tips,

I didn't think buying a dress on-line can be so complicated, but I was wrong...

I'm a student and really don't have a lot of money to spend on a dress which I'll wear only for a few hours,

so I'm looking for a good seller on Ebay,

I think I should buy the dress on Ebay because I checked on Dhgate and almost all sellers charge for shipping, and on Ebay it's cheaper.

Please tell me what you think, any recommendation will be bless... prayer1.gif

I was going for a knock off dress since the beginning. For different reasons.

After visiting the bridal salon a couple of weeks ago I got so much more assured in buying a knock of dress online. All the dresses I tried in the store seemed to be so cheaply made and ALL of them had a tag "Made in China". And of course I'm not willing to pay several thousands for a designer dress.

My choice number one was eBay, but what put me off that idea is the sellers rarely add actual images of the dresses they made. You can imagine that the dress you'll receive is going to be as awesome as it is on the original designer shot, but there are sooo many things that can go wrong.

Then I was leaning towards OuterInner. They have lots of dresses, reasonably priced, and you can see their actual work in the OuterInner collection. But their shipping rates were just killing me. Sometimes half a price of a wedding gown.

And then I fell for DHgate sellers. Depending on the seller, there are actual images, the shipping rates are cheaper or even sometimes free, and with all these sellers you get such a choice! I've ordered my reception dress (replica of Pronovias Finlandia) a couple of days ago and will share the pics as soon as the dress arrives!

When choosing a gown, the main thing that I was looking at is "what can go wrong". For example, if you see on original picture finely defined ruffles, try to imagine how they'd look if they weren't as "accurately" made. If the silhouette tightly follows your body lines, imagine if it wasn't as tight and precise.

Just to through an example on how Justin Alexander 8465 replicas can "go wrong":

  6. Here are 2 projects with step by step pics:

I find A LOT of inspirational material on Wedding Bee. Or simply google "DIY seashell bouquet" - tons of pics!

Keep in mind that seashell bouquet can turn out to be rather heavy. Basically, you stick into the styrofoam ball anything you'd like to make a part of your bouquet. Then need to come up with a handle, wrap it in a satin ribbon and voilà! :) I bet it's harder than it sounds.

Yup. That's what I did last weekend. Although both styles fitted me nicely, I felt more comfortable in an a-line type. The best part was: what I saw in the mirror was pretty much the same as I was imagining in my head. :)

But now I have another dilemma: tea length or hi-lo? Something like Aire Barcelona Renzo vs Mori Lee 6721:

    400 or 400

  8. Don't try to convince him. Talk to him, most importantly - listen. And try to understand why he doesn't want it.

You might be able to make him look at TTD differently by turning his cons around. If he simply doesn't want to be wet in clothes, then maybe you can get him wearing nice swim shorts for the session.

Explain your motivation. Do you want it because of beautiful pics? Then put it as modern art. Photos already are a powerful tool of capturing a single moment. Yes, TTD photos are often staged, but professional work with water and light makes it a 1/100 sec painting.

    Good luck!

  9. Hey Angela, we're going casual and simple too, and I am planning to go barefoot. And to my taste, I simply don't like barefoot sandals. In my case I'm thinking to go with a tea length dress, so my feet are gonna be exposed. I consider "flowerish" flip flops - flat or wedges. Firstly to walk at the resort and secondly in case the sand gets too hot. Just some pics for the inspiration:

    400 400

    Or even goofy radical variant:

    400

Or, if the "fluff" doesn't fit with the dress style, it can be something sleek and elegant:

    400 400

I think no shoes in sand will look just fine. It would be way more awkward in the high heels, huh? ;) Get to try on a wedding dress without any shoes. You'll get the sense of look.

  10. I'm narrowing down my choices of the dresses, and cannot decide between 2 silhouettes and possible length. I'm hesitating between a-line tea length dresses. Something like famous Justin Alexander 8465 or Maggie Sottero Santorini.

    400 or 400

Or empire floor length. BCBG Timona is an inspiration for this look.

    400

We are having the ceremony in a very casual style. Going barefoot too. I'm a size 4 pear shaped.

What would you girls go for?

  11. I'm starting to lean towards something like this. My worry is: how will it look barefoot???

  12. Ladies, I desperately need your opinion.

We are going to have a beach ceremony. Bare foot, private and small. I am starting to shop for dresses, and obviously getting rather torn apart.

First thing to mention: I am looking for a knock off dress, and I am going to do the TTD session right after the ceremony as we are not planning to have a reception. I already found a nice and simple chiffon dress for the evening that matches my needs and shoes. ;)

I am small (size 4-6), but pear-shaped, so I'm looking at a-line or empire dresses.

My choice number one is tea length a-line taffeta dress. Replica of Mon Cheri Destinations.

    400

My concern here is that taffeta will look too heavy on the beach and it might look weird bare foot. Also since it's a knock off dress, the rouche may be not as nice and elegant...

I am also considering Justin Alexander 8465 replica instead.

I am also thinking about quite a different style. Ruffled floor length chiffon dress. Maybe not necessarily this one, but the style alike.

    400

My FH and father-in-law as well as my father voted for the first one though. And floor length may be not as comfortable in the sand.

And recently I also thought of a simpler option. I can get it in white.

    400

For any dress I come up with, there is transportation to keep in mind. I believe chiffon will take it better and will be easier to recover. Also to match my FH's attire: most likely he's gonna be wearing linen shorts and line. Rather casual, so I don't want to be a complete contrast to his look. I like all of them that's why I need your opinion.

    Any thoughts?

  13. Hey, I am new in here and find this forum extremely useful!

We are planning our wedding for early April 2013. In fact that's gonna be our 5th anniversary, but we never had a ceremony and celebration with family & friends. As well as the honeymoon. :) I was looking at Punta Cana resorts at first, but when I accidentally saw BP Cayo Levantado, I simply fell in love with it.

Since we are already married, I want a really small ceremony, and I don't want any special arrangements for the reception. We want our friend to hold the ceremony. You know, just like Joey in "Friends". :)

I was trying to get the information from the wedding coordinator Amaradai (at [email protected]) regarding our specific needs, but it's been a week, and I haven't received any answer yet. I saw that unfortunately it's normal for them to be very slow to respond.

Maybe any of you have the answers?

Basically what I'm trying to find out is the price for the bamboo gazebo/arch for the beach.

    - How much is the bride's make up.

    - Who is the photographer.

Photography is rather important to me. I was looking at HDC photo as an option. But once again, I've got no idea if they take a fee for the photographer you bring on site.

Those of you who called the hotel, was it simple and easy? Or is it worth it waiting for their email? From what I've read, the date reservation is made by email anyway...
