Have you guys decided the location of the wedding yet? gazebo, beach or garden? I am not sure yet which one to go for as I am a little concerned being outdoor might be too hot.

We used the jetty for the wedding ceremony (wonderful breeze and picture perfect!!!) and we had our wedding dinner and reception on the beach.  I don't think it was hot after sundown.

Just beware of the garden.  One photographer warned me that he photographed there once and noticed too many bugs because of the grass. Guests had to use repellent all the time and many of them had tons of mosquito bites all over.

    Hi Megan,

Our guests loved the reception dinner.  We chose:

1st Course:  Mediterranean Salad with Shrimp

2nd Course:  Lagostine bisque with Choux

Entree:  Beef Tournedos or Fish Roll stuffed with cream cheese

Dessert:  Chocolate Dome with hazelnut sauce and Tres leches wedding cake..

    Delish!!!

Well I've started packing! I've completely packed the wedding bag and was successful in my goal of ONE bag for wedding supplies and welcome bag items! When we began planning I really didn't want to do the welcome bag thing. I didn't want to be bothered dragging everything down but as time went on, I thought that was selfish and I could at least do something for my guest. We originally expected around 40 guest, not 62 so as more people booked, we realized we had to keep the welcome bags a bit more simple. There were a few things I really wanted to add, but I didn't because it would have been WAY to many things to bring to MX. So anyways, we kept the welcome bags simple, as well as the wedding decor. We really wanted to fit everything into one checked luggage bag that weighs below the 50lbs weight limit... and it weighs 44lbs! Whooohoo!

I've also started packing my own bag. I've been throwing things in there that I think of throughout the day and I've packed a few things that won't wrinkle. Everything else is pretty much laid out in a room ready to be placed in the bag!

My FI hasn't touched his bag yet, that's just how he (and probably most guys) is. I'm sure he'll pack the night before we leave!

So is anyone coming up this weekend? There's too many pages here to go through everyone's dates! We should have made a page with everyone's dates listed in order!

If not, I think me and a few others are coming up next weekend!! Eeeeekkkkkkk!!! We fly in on Wednesday, the 12th.... Anyone else? I'll look for you at the airport!! cheer2.gif

Great job with the packing!  I have all the decor and items spread out on our table so I can visualize.. lol

I also fly on the 12th but out of NYC!  Can't wait!

  5. Have you ladies chosen the readings for your ceremony?  Please share!

I found this one.. short and sweet but I haven't decided yet:

    "Rain fell today
and somewhere lotus flowers are blossoming,
    So are we.
    Defying the impossible
in the shelter and warmth of each other's hearts,
extending the night, caressing the stars,
    And knowing each other's hearts
    is our human bliss"

I love this song!!!  One of my fave John Legend's song..

I think we will stay with Angus and Julia Stone's "Big Jet Plane".  It's a sweet song and when I listen to the lyrics and he says "I'm gonna take you for a ride on a big jet place" it makes me believe life with Matt will be an adventure.

Good luck to your FI!  I'm tackling level 3 too and will be so glad to have this monster (hopefully) finished!

Hopefully both of you will finally add the ", CPA" after your names!

BTW, I love the Cayman Islands!   Stingray Bay is so cool!

  8. Hey Ladies.. we are going through a bit of a dilemma...

My travel agent mentioned way back when that if we get married in Mexico we wouldhave to get divorced in Mexico.. crazy to even mention that 4 weeks before our big day but it really stuck with us!  We don't even know if that's true..   I wanted to get married in the US and in Mexico - what are you guys doing?  A side of me wanted to have a legal wedding in Mexico so I don't feel I am cheating on our guests...  a side of me wants to get the proper sacrament in the church.. Can you guys tell me what your plans are?  Matt just thinks we should have a symbolic wedding there and then do the real thing here...  We can't find a good or bad reason for one or another...

My Fiance is also taking Level 3 on June 1st - which is when I'm having bachelorette party!  Best of luck to you!  I don't know how you can't even think about the wedding with this huge exam on the horizon!   Matt asks me for little projects so I'm not doing everything by myself and I just tell him to focus and pass on the exam!

  10. Hey Everyone, Just back from Eleuthera!  It was my MOH's wedding (she's also my MOH).

It was beautiful and I learned a few things...

    1)  They kept the ceremony very short and sweet.. no readings, no programs, no sand ceremony.. it was actually beautiful!

    2)  All inclusive is key!  The wedding was in Eleuthera and guests stayed in apartments.  Since most didn't have cars, they had limited access to the supermarket and food was extremely expensive.  A case of beer was $45, a gallon of milk as $8!  Entrees at the 2 restaurants were also expensive.  However, Bride and Groom hosted a cocktail party (Fri) and a rehearsal dinner bonfire (Sat) before the wedding (Sun).  Food was awesome!

    3)  I didn't want Matt to see me before the ceremony but now I will surprise him at the courtyard of the hotel so we can take some pictures before the wedding.  It was so wonderful to see the groom's reaction when he saw the bride for the first time!

    4) Couple didn't do a rehearsal the day before.  There was no need for it because the ceremony was very simple.. we were just told where to go minutes before the ceremony and it was so easy... I'm considering that.

    5) My MOH was so calm during the entire weekend.. she just had fun and went with the flow.  If something went wrong, we didn't see it.. so I will be packing that same positive attitude with me when I pack my bags to Mexico!

Fun Fact - she got married on Mother's day weekend and I'm getting married on Father's day weekend!  We must share a brain.. lol

Wow!  My dress is not ready and we will have a lot of work to do to make it fit.  I know the feeling!  I'm glad you have your perfect dress now!  It will be beautiful and you will rock your big day!

    Included in my mailer:

-a double sided "notecard" that I designed myself and printed through Vistaprint for free with info about traveling, etc

-a magnet to hold the notecard to the fridge (I also designed this myself and printed through Vistaprint for free)

-a CD with a compilation of "Get Ready!" songs chosen by the wedding party in a DIY "case" that I made from left over kraft paper cards

-2 DIY Luggage tags/person (here is the link to my luggage tags: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/84974/my-diy-luggage-tags-with-pics

Thankfully, there are only 30 of us total and most of the guests are couples, so I really only had to make about 15 mailers. This helped- otherwise price and time devoted to this project could start to add up. However, I printed some of the things on Vistaprint for free, I had 10 blank CD's (so I only had to buy a few), and I used left over kraft paper cards/envelopes for the CD case and the actual mailer envelope. The supplies for the luggage tags weren't really that expensive, either!

    Anyway.. on with the pics!

What do ya'll think? I think the guests will really like the CD. It's an idea I got from this forum and as soon as I saw it, I just knew I wanted to do it.

Happy Planing, ladies! Any questions, just let me know!
