June 2013 brides- what are you doing?

Recommended Posts

Hi girls.  I'm curious what you all are currently working on?  I feel like I'm at a stand still and I would love to hear what you all are doing.  I would love to start working on OOT bags, but I'm holding off until I have a better idea of how many people are coming.

I'm having the same issue! Everyone keeps asking me "how's the wedding planning going?" And I'm like what planning!?! Haha! I'm pretty much at a stand still as well. Can't do much at all without knowing how many guest we'll have. My estimate shows between 25-55 & that's a big difference which makes it hard to do anything! We send STDs this past June & plan to send invites in Janurary with a mid March RSVP date. I've started designing my menus, programs, etc but can't really start making them without having some sort of head count. I really wanted to start buying welcome bag items, table runners, chair sashes, etc so I don't spend all at once but I can't do much. It's pretty fustersting! Looks like I'll be doing everything at once!

Woohoo good thread!  We're sending invitations at the end of January, probably with a March 1st RSVP date (our room block is only held until 3/22).  I'm estimating 100 guests, and I could be surprised either way - but I made enough OOT bags for that count (my friend and I sewed them - glad that's done!), and I'm buying the contents to fit that # too.  I figure even if I end up with some extra, it's better than having to cram it in at the last minute.  I also have a huge professional exam that will keep me from doing any planning from Feb - the first week in June, so I have to get things done.

Vendors are all set except for cake (can't decide what I want to do).  I already made my bride/flower girl hangers, OOT bags, and bought over half the stuff for the OOT bags.  Got my dress, we bought wedding bands (my bank account hurts).  We're looking for my sister's dress (my only BM) and my niece's (flower girl).  I'm making tulle pomanders to go on the aisle chairs at the ceremony (and then moved to reception for decor somehow, not sure yet).  I've made 4.5 out of 18 so far.  That's my current project.

Next up (things I can do before I have a head count):  place card holders, getting invitations printed (another DIY that I really need to start this weekend) and put together, addressing said invitations (mom and I are doing that), design pre-travel brochure and maybe sew luggage tags to send with it, design menu, find or make flower girl basket and ring pillow, table #s, gifts for parents, barefoot jewelry for my sister and niece.  I'm sure there are things I'm forgetting, but I'll stop here because I think I just broke out in hives thinking about all this.

Would LOVE to see what other people are doing!

Maybe you could make a list of what you want to put in OOT bags and at least get the items that aren't too expensive.  For example, I bought my pepto chewables already.  If I end up having less people RSVP, I'll just give some people an extra packet.  That kind of thing.  Anyway good luck!

Wow ogm04 you scare me.I have finished my STD and my invites and I thought I was ahead of the game but girl not after reading your post. You are the bomb girl! Shannonmarie I have the same issue with head count 25-50. It is horrible. I also haven't decided on the rvsp so I kinda stuck right now, I'm torn between luggage tags or post cards so I'll ponder my dilema.confused.gif Keep up the post I luv them and it might inspire me!

I'm pretty much done shopping for the OOT bags, still have 2 more bulk items I want to get. I'm estimating 85-100 people, we have 50 booked so far. I want to start making my inviting soon, I want them in the mail by the end of January with a March 1st RSVP deadline as well. I'm also brainstorming the centerpiece ideas, favors, and table linen. I know what I want so it's time to bargain hunt, I'm estimating the amount of tables, I know they seat 8 at the resort and I am goin with round tables. I will do the menus closer to the date when I have a better head count and make menu selections. I went dress shoppig back in June and ordered that, have my shoes already, have all of my gifts for the bridesmaids (3 to be exact), have everyone's hangers (me, BMs, flower girl, and both mothers). I also have the guest book and all of the groomsmen suits and gifts. I went on a shopping spree at the end of summer to catch the end of season sales! I'm also very OCD about things so I just made my lists and gottp checking things off. I bought a new printer last week so I could work on the invitations. Still feel like I have TONS to do.

Save the dates are out, my dress is bought, photographer is booked (actually a family friend coming down with us for 3 days!!) and guests are starting to book now! I've started to look for BM dresses but am not too concerned because I'm just having my 2 sisters.

I have no idea what else I should be doing now so this has been helpful. I want to start on some extras with out spending a ton of money so will probably get going on OOT bags, and invites next.

Not knowing how many guests are actually going to come is driving me insane though!!

After reading all of these I feel like I have a ton to do! I am currently trying to put together oot bags. Other then that I have the photographer booked and my invites have been sent out. So far 22 people have booked, I figured I would have about 25 all together. Other then that I have not done too much (oh and my dress is bought). So glad I found this, I hope it will make me start getting more together!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
