Average White Band: Cut The Cake -
Great choice! I saw the pics of the pearl shimmer setup and it is gorgeous . . . I just couldn't justify the price since its only for the ceremony so I bought decoration to have them set it up the same way but with my own stuff.
-
I believe the guest pass is good for the entire day; they can stay until 11pm or 12am I believe. I am getting one for my videographer and DJ (my way of getting around that ridiculous outside vendor fee but the resort doesn't know that yet and I don't plan on telling them until I get there).
-
I plan to bring my own and I saw a few ladies who brought their own also. Are you upgrading your cake?
-
For those of you considering the ipod dock, just fyi discomovil is less than $600 for four hours of DJ service. I will be using them and purchasing a day pass (not telling the resort I have an outside DJ until the day of . . . taking my chances).

For you brides that recently got married, how hot was it around 6-7pm? For those that had a reception on tucan terrace, was it hot, windy, or comfortable?? I can't decide whether to order the expensive huppa from Zuniga that covers the tables . . . I would rather not spend that money but I don't want my guests to be uncomfortable.

I guess what I'm asking is what is it exactly you go over with your BP wedding coordinator? What do you go over upon arrival? Can I change the menu and mix and match? There are some items I like on the BBQ menu but then there are some I like on The Mexican menu. Also do you know if cheesecake is available as a wedding cake? Thanks!
Cheesecake is one of the choices. I'm at moon but I think its the same menu. I'm doing cheese for my groom's cake.

Thanks KristieT. I only asked because I am getting married at Moon and they are trying to charge me for long tables (they only offer the round ones for free). I'm trying to fight them on this so its good to know Beach Palace did not charge for it.

I don't have my professional photos back yet, but I will post some for you ladies once I get them. For now here are some pics from my Mom's camera. I know I loved seeing other brides setup's etc.
Ceremony -Sky Terrace:
I choose the "old" complimentary package. Added silver sashes from Zuinga. I brought programs and paper fans to be put on each chair. I also brought the silk rose petals. I believe they actually glued them down, as it was pretty windy and most seemed to stay put.
Cocktail Hour- Beach Side South Terrace
I don't have any pics of the cocktail hour yet I had them set up tall tables and they served the appetizers, I cannot comment on the food as I missed this entire part taking pictures.
They did serve my signature drink to all the guests as they arrived. NOTE they call LIMES LEMONS. My signature drink was a vodka, lemonade with grenadine and they asked if i wanted a lemon or orange added, i said lemon, but it was really a lime. Apparently a they call limes lemons and lemons, oranges? I am still confused!
Reception- Lagoon Side South Terrace
When they suggested having dinner on the lagoon side, I was turned off, of course I though the ocean would be better, but once it gets dark the ocean is black and the lagoon side is full of lights really beautiful!
I rented almost all of the decor for the reception from Zuinga. I brought my own starfish place cards, m&m favors, candy for the piñata, cupcake wrappers, cupcake to go bags and monogram stickers for cupcake to go bags.
Zuinga didn't get everything right here. I wanted one long SKINNY table (one table wide) they put two tables wide instead. The linens were alot darker then I expected, I was shown a much lighter grey photo. Also the large square candles on the table were supposed to go around the pool, i assume they decided the table looked empty and decided to add them to the table. I ordered a piñata that was supposed to be yellow and it was pink. Also my seating arrangement was wrong although I believe it was Beach Palace who took care of this part.
As i said earlier, this all didn't go as I planned but in the end, it didn't matter at all. I was the only one who knew what wasn't right. I received so many compliments from the guests.
The Pinata was a HIT! Zuinga charged me $100 for the pinata and the stick (stupid expensive but I wasn't going to lug one down on the plane!) I brought all my own candy to fill it, I think the adults had more fun then the kids trying to get the candy free. Worth every penny!
The Gobo (monogram light) only cost $80 I believe from JSAV and just pulled everything together! Really made the area personalized and helped keep wedding crashers out when they could clearly see it was a wedding.
We used JSAV for the IPOD setup and extra lightening. Do it! They ran our ipod for us and basically worked as a DJ, when everyone was dancing they were quick to change the song if the crown wasn't feeling it. The extra tree lights we rented were amazing. They had colored lights which created a really good mood for the dance floor.
For Dinner we choose the Italian Buffet, to be honest I didn't really like it but perhaps I was too busy enjoying my day. All my guests said they liked it..maybe they were just being polite?
We opted and paid for cupcakes instead of cake ($3 per cupcake) We are obsessed with Red Velvet cupcakes so naturally wanted them at the wedding, My wedding planner said they did not know what this was. I sent them an example reciepe and they said they could make it. This worried me but they really turned out great!
My wedding coordinator even packed up the left over cupcakes in my togo bags so my guests could just grab them as they left.
Please let me know if anyone has any questions. This thread was the most helpful to me so I will be happy to pay it forward.
Enjoy the planning ladies, it comes and goes quick!

How much did Zuniga charge for the tables?
-
Hi ladies, my budget has sky rocketed since I posted it on here. WOndering if any of you ladies who are getting married in Cancun know of a videographer that is cheaper than $1100 for 4 hours? We booked our videographer for two hours and now im thinking that I will regret not getting a video of our first dance and cutting of the cake. I need serious help!

I just read through a bunch of these comments . . . am I the only one with a groom who won't let me know what he is wearing? All I know is that it will be a suit. Scary!

I felt the same way. I watched a bunch of youtube videos to learn how to fill in my eyebrows, contour and highlight and mix eyeshadow color. Amazing how much you learn gearing up for that one day, lol. Thanks to ChocoTaco, now I know what products to get to use my newly found knowledge:)

Hi Ladies,
I need your help. I originally was going to do the unity candle ceremony but now I found this neat idea that I want to add. Its the rope ceremony: three ropes are tied together to symbolize how the couple are joined by God in marriage. However, I can't find these ropes anywhere. I would like them to match my wedding colors (brown, gold and white). Any thoughts, suggestions, DIY ideas????

I had similar concerns...I selected a few days over the summer of 2012 to do full face make-up test to prepare for my bridal look. I choose days were the high was 90+ and went to Sephora 3 times and MAC once. Make-up was applied between 10:00 and noon and wore until I went to bed. The task: I wanted to be tear-proof, transfer-proof, sweat proof, able to endure humidity, photo ready, 12+ hours of wear and something mattifying. I went to the gym on these days, watched a movie that I knew would make me cry, and checked transferability by blotting my face with a white shirt throughout the day. The following is what I finally went with. If you want to know the complete list of items I experimented with let me know and I can provide those too.
Primer – Tarte Poreless 12 Hour Perfecting Primer, creates a great canvas, really minimizes pores and it’s waterproof. I also like Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer
Foundation – Make Up For Ever HD Invisible Cover Foundation (great color selection for darker skin tones)
Concealer – Make Up For Ever HD Invisible Cover Concealer
Blush – Smashbox Factory Airblush Whipped Cheek in Berry Bliss with light sweep of MAC Mineralize Blush in Lovejoy on top (I have a few more recommendations if needed but this is my wedding look)
Bronzer – Nars Casino (subtle glow-my day time option) or Laura Mercier Golden Mosaic Shimmer Color Bloc (more light reflecting, great for evenings)
Contour – Really hard to find a contour for dark skin so I use a matte eye shadow from MAC 2 shades darker than my complexion
Highlighter – Concealer 1 shade lighter than skin tone and mixed with Nars Illuminator in Orgasm
EyeLiner – Stilla Stay All Day Waterproof Liner (liquid liner)
Eyeshadow Primer – Urban Decay Original Primer Potion (love this stuff, it’s been my go to for 3 years now)
Eyeshadow – MAC has the best pigments in my opinion. If you want to know the specifics for my eye look let me know.
Mascara – Lancome Power Mascara Lon Wearing Formula (what I would use if I wasn’t getting lash extensions)
Brows – Laura Mercier Eyebrow Pencil
Lipliner - Make Up For Ever Aqua Lip Waterproof Lipliner Pencil
Finishing - Make Up For Ever HD MicroFinish Powder
Optional investment - Original Beauty Blender Sponge, this truly gives a flawless application. If it weren’t for my wedding I probably would have never purchased this thing, but I was aiming for perfection.
I can’t believe I’m putting all this stuff on my face, but I love my bridal look and how it photographs. Each item above really make for a complete and polished look.
OMG!!!!! Thank You!!!! As a dark skin bride, it is so hard finding products that don't transfer. I wish I could hug you right now, lol.

That is great advice. Hope I remember that 3 months from now!

We thought we would try in Jamaica but I guess there is no trying this time around! I did hear from the doctor today and so far my labs are all good! I just have so many emotions! We totally wanted this but wasn't expecting it 3 WEEKS before! lol
Congrats!!!!!!! Try not to stress (I know, easier said than done). Wish you all the best on the wedding and your pregnancy.

I know you are probably still adding to this but when you get done, can you tell me what makeup products you bought to wear for the wedding. I am having a hard time deciding what is best as fat as foundation, concealer, long wear lip color, etc. I'm so excited for you . . . your day is almost here!
-
Are you serious? They are ridiculous with all the additional charges. I emailed my coordinator to see if I can get it free. I'm frugal!
-
That's what I did also (chocolate and vanilla), after they told me not to choose the tres leche. Our dates are both in August and I have way more stuff I haven't done yet . . . don't stress. It will get done and it will be fab!

Did any of you past brides use rectangular tables for your reception instead of round one? They are telling me I can't have one long table setup and I know I have seen other brides do it. Help!!

Are you getting married in a gazebo? I have yet to see how the setup for the pearl shimmer looks in the gazebo . . . probably amazing! I have only seen it on the beach.
