  1. My wedding coordinator, Clarissa Arzola, doesn't work for Palace Resort's anymore :-(

I just received an email from Rocio Lizbeth Rioja Delgado, who seems to be my new wedding coordinator. I'm a little dissappointed. Clarissa has been so wonderful throughout this whole process, always responding to my emails right away. I also made special arrangements with her on a few things. I'm hoping notes were taken on my wedding requests, etc...

I feel like I'm starting over.

Anyone been in contact with Rocio Delgado? I hope she is just as good as Clarissa was.

I'm only using Tania for airbrush makeup + fake lashes- for that it's $125.00. Bridesmaids are $90.00 each. Regular makeup for the bride (not airbrush) with lashes is $100.00, and for bridesmaids is $70.00.

Hope that helps! I think Norma from MAC is a little less expensive, but I likes Tania Tagle's work more.

When is your wedding? I was originally in contact with Janessa from the Miami office but since it moved I havent heard a thing. I will be in Playa del Carmen for a wedding next week so i am doing a site tour of Beach Palace on the 10th.. hoping to get most of my questions answered at this time. I booked the site tour with Rocio over email- who is your coordinator?

    Kristie,

My wedding is July 12th, 2013. My coordinator is Clarissa but my planners name is Margarita (both from BP). Clarissa has been a huge help! She is the one I had to pay for the Pearl Shimmer wedding package. Margarita emailed me with flower, cake, food menu, etc...options but I haven't had much contact with her yet; mostly Clarissa! Are you doing the complimentary package? I'm thinking maybe they contacted me so soon because I'm paying so much for the Pearl Shimmer package, and it was paid upfront. I don't know though, just a guess. I started planning in September 2012, so I never worked with the Miami office at all.

I am thinking about doing a cocktail hour after the ceremony, before the reception too. Have you gotten any info on that? I don't want to jinx myself (knocking on wood) but I think we are going to make it to 75 nights to get to the free events, but on that day we would exceed the 3 hour per day limit. so i guess we would just have cocktail hour and reception and then just pay for whatever amount the reception exceeded the time limit. I don't know how strict they are on that. My ceremony is a 6, so with the parties outside having to end by 10:30 rule there isn't a whole lot of time for it to go past, but I wonder how strict they are on that too... has anyone heard anything?? I am getting close to 3 months out and can't wait to talk to someone. I attended the webinar and she said you should be in some contact at 6 months, but I haven't heard from anyone and my TA said that's normal. Has anyone else? Kristie, what are you doing for your makeup/hair?

Has anyone been in contact with Marvin for flowers? I emailed him about a week ago, but havent heard anything back.

    Hi Jenni,

I'm hopefully doing a cocktail hour after the ceremony, before the reception as well (if we get to our 75 room night goal!). I have a friend who did a cocktail hour after her ceremony at the Dreams Resort at her destination wedding and it worked out perfectly! It gives the bridal party a chance to go down to the beach after the ceremony for pictures, and the guests have a cocktail hour to attend during that break. Then when the bridal party is done with pictures, everyone heads up to the reception. My ceremony is at 6 as well. The ceremony should only be 20-30 minutes, pictures about an hour (during which your guests head to the hour long cocktail party), and everyone heads to the reception around 7:30 or 8:00. That leaves 2 1/2 to 3 hours for reception. I didn't know there was a 10:30 cut off time, but I guess that's ok. I think 3 hours is long enough for dinner and dancing. That means you would only have to pay 1 hour extra for going over the 3 hour limit.

My wedding coordinator ( who I paid directly for the wedding package- I'm doing Pearl Shimmer) has been so helpful. I actually spoke to my wedding planner (through email) as well, but she's extremely busy with current wedding at the Beach Palace so my coordinator (also through Beach Palace) has answered all my questions. I would email Beach Palace directly and demand that someone contact you ASAP.

I've booked Tania Tagle for makeup. She is will known in Cancun for airbrush makeup and she comes to your hotel to do yours and the bridesmaids makeup. I also have her coming the day before the wedding for a trial makeup session (which works well for the rehersal dinner). For hair- I have a couple hair dresser friends attending the wedding who will do mine and my bridesmaids hair.

For flowers- I'm going to purchase silk bridesmaid flowers beforehand and have my bridesmaids each hold their own in their suitcases. The flowers look really real, and they're much cheaper than buying through Marvin or the hotel. I believe the wedding package comes with a real bouquet for the bride.

Congrats and good luck with everything!

I chose Beach Palace for its reputation and based on other reviews. I don't want to ask people to come to our wedding and then have it at some janky resort and then they will complain that it was not nice or the food wasn't good or whatever else they find wrong. It is really hurtful and frustrating. We made it clear we would completely understand if people could not afford to come. I just wish they would keep their opinions to themselves!! At this point I don't care about the free stuff I just want people to be excited for us and excited to have a vacation to look forward to if they choose to come. Good luck girls!!

Yes, Brooke! You're completely right. I agree, I chose BP based on rep and reviews as well. It's a beautiful resort and I know our weddings will be perfect. We only get married once (ideally), might as well do it right!

We totally understand if people can't make it as well. It's expensive! I'm hoping airline prices drop a little after the Holiday. I'm a July wedding, so I think Jan or Feb will be the best time for my guests to book. But either way, everything will turn out ok.

    Good luck with everything!!

  6. Thank you Erika! You're so right. People are wanting to stay 7 or 8 days and I'm thinking well if you want to stay that long it's going to cost you! I went to a destination wedding 4 years ago in Cancun, and we only stayed 5 days, because that's all we could afford. I'm hoping people realize that!

Thank you for your response! Made me feel better. I will try not to stress for now. What happens, happens. I'm sure everything will work out in the end. And you're right, all that matters is my future hubby and I.

    Thanks,

  7. Hey guys,

So I was just curious if you've been hearing any complaints from guests you invited to the wedding about how expensive Beach Palace is? I got a great deal on Travelocity.com for my fiance and I- $3,600.00 for 8 days, 7 nights, room upgrade to Ocean View and nonstop flights to Cancun from San Francisco International Airport there and back. I booked Black Friday weekend so they had really good deals.

Only problem, is normally for two people to book at Beach Palace (before room upgrades) with nonstop flights it's close to $4,000. I've had people complain and ask why I didn't just stay at one of the cheaper hotels in Cancun. They thing the prices and ridiculous :-( I've been encouraging all my guests to book at Beach Palace because I really want the wedding benefits (free reception, cocktail hour, etc...). I'm just feeling stressed.

Has anyone else ran into this problem?

WOW, your pictures are stunning! They were so creative! I bet you're so pleased. Congrats to both you and your new hubby :-)

I have a couple questions for you...

    1) Who was your photographer? I am in love with your photos.

    2) My bridesmaid dresses are almost the exact same color as your bridesmaids (royal purple). Did you purchase bridesmaid flowers at the hotel for your bridesmaids? I love the mix of pinks and purples in your bridesmaid bouquets. I was thinking of buying silk flowers for my bridesmaids and bringing them down to Mexico with me. Beach Palace wants to charge an arm and a leg for maid of honor bouquets, etc...so I was just wondering what you did here?

    3) Did you receive the wedding benefits? Free reception, cocktail hour, etc...? If not, how much did it cost you for the reception?

    4) Did you use Zuniga for reception decor? I have contacted them to do floating candles in the pool, lights under the tables, etc, so I was just wondering what you used?

    5) What is the name of the terrace where you had the reception? I want my reception at this rooftop pool as well.

    6) Did you have a DJ, or did you just do the ipod and speakers through PSAV?

Thanks so much! Congrats again. It looks as though everything turned out perfect :-)

    Dear Shan0487,

I heard differently. Clarissa from BP told me that JSAV is now their preferred vendor, and you do have to pay the $500.00 outside vendor fee if you use PSAV.

    Good Afternoon Nicole,

We are not longer working with PSAV, the only vendor now is JSAV any outside vendor will cost you $500 usdL

Do you still want to get the PSAV pricelist?

    Clarissa

That's her direct email to me.

    Stacie,

I now remember I had emailed Clarissa at BP about this. Their preferred vendor is JSAV, and they will charge an outside fee of $500.00 for any outside vendors, including PSAV.

About me; Iâ€m an August 10, 2013 BP bride and just getting my planning underway.

    Stacie

    Hi Stacie,

I'm a July 12th, 2013 bride, so we're pretty close! I've put a deposit down on the Pearl Shimmer package. They've confirmed that I'll get the sky terrace for my ceremony, and the other sky terrace with the pool and bar for my reception (not sure what this terrace is called).

I've contacted an outside Vendor, Zuniga, for reception decor. I'm not going too big, as I don't want to spend too much money on this. I'm just doing a simple reception table decor that kind of matches the Pearl Shimmer theme, purple lights under the tables, and floating candles in the pool. As for PSAV- I am still up in the air about getting a DJ. I'm definitely getting the speaker and IPOD, but I may just have a friend DJ for me. I'm not doing a dance floor, too expensive.

I'm going with Ocean Photo Studio for photography. They come with the wedding package, and I like their work. I will probably upgrade to a better photography package and video.

My wedding dress comes in on December 10th, so excited! All my bridesmaid dresses are ordered as well.

My fiance and I have booked our trip. Hotel + airfare on travelocity.com for 7 nights, 8 days at the Beach Palace. None of our guests have booked yet though, but I'm expecting people to begin booking in January 2013, after the holidays. I sent my Save the Date's out about 2 months ago, and my invitations are all ready to go, I just have to mail them.

Clarissa from Beach palace has been very helpful. She's the one who helped me book the Pearl Shimmer Package and has been sooo helpful, answering any questions I have. Margarita Patino is my wedding planner. She sent me food options, etc...after I booked the Pearl Shimmer package, but I think it was a mistake, because your wedding planner isn't really supposed to contact you until 60 or so days before the wedding. I've been emailing her too, but she does not respond. Clarissa is much better at responding.

If you have any questions let me know!

We had about 40 people, and we didn't qualify for the free functions.  We did qualify for a cocktail hour, but we used that as a welcome cocktail hour the night before the wedding.  Honestly, I can't remember the exact amount of what we paid, but I think it was something like $400 for the overall rental fee for four tables of 10 + an additional $15 per person for the sky terrace location + an additional $200 to add a third hour.

For Zuniga, the only things that we rented from them were 15 tiki torches to add more lighting up there and two sets of lounge furniture sets with each set including a two-seater, two one-seaters and a coffee table.  We wanted to have more of a casual vibe, so I wanted to have additional seating set up.  They were really easy to work with, and I would totally recommend them!

Please let me know if there's anything else I can help.  Good luck with the planning. : )

Wow, with 40 people you didn't qualify for the private function? I was thinking with just 30 people (15 rooms at 5 nights each (at least)) it would bring us to 75 room nights which would allow us to qualify for unlimited private functions and cocktail hours. Eekk...I'm worried about all the additional fees if we don't qualify for it, but I guess it is what it is. I also opted out of doing the room block, because my wedding coordinator is allowing me to have all my guests book on one outside website (I chose travelocity.com). If they all book on one website, I can still qualify for the wedding group benefits. I'm just worried about not having rooms blocked, because it's a smaller hotel and I know a lot of my guests will book last minute. Was the hotel packed when you went, or did it seem like there was some vacant rooms?

Please send me your email & I will email you the pictures. It's not allowing me to attach the pictures here for some reason. Thx!

    Hi Melmelly,

I am getting married at the Beach Palace on July 12th, 2013.

I am going with the photographer who comes with the wedding package, Ocean Photo Studio. I paid for the Pearl Shimmer colin cowie wedding package. It seems a bit pricey at $3,500 just for the ceremony, but you can use your $1,500.00 resort credit toward the package, so it comes out to only $2,000.00. I am worried about my guests booking enough nights to get the reception free, but hopefully I qualify for the free private function and cocktail hour.

I was worried about guests wanting to book through a travel agent too, which is why I opted out of doing a room block. I decided to have all my guests book through an outside website, like www.travelocity.com where they can book flight and hotel together. It saves them money!

I am unsure about the DJ as well. I think I'm going to just rent the speakers and do an IPOD hookup & have a friend announce first dance, etc...

I am booking Zuniga for reception decor. She found decor that matches the Pearl Shimmer package well for the table decor, and I'm doing purple lights under the table and floating candles in the pool. That's about it! Don't want to go too crazy on decor, the prices add up quick.

I have bought my dress already. It will be ready December 10th. My bridesmaid dress has been picked and almost all of my bridesmaids have been fitted and bought their dress already as well.

What are you doing for bridesmaid flowers? I believe the package comes with flower for bride to hold during ceremony, but are the bridesmaid flowers really expensive?

Please feel free to ask me any questions you may have :-)

But I didn't have any problem getting more of some of the bigger pieces of furniture, and I changed my mind on things just a few weeks before due to more peopel confirming that they were coming.  They were VERY helpful when I was emailing back and forth with them, so I'm sure they could easily let you know now if it would be a potential issue for the things you want to be booked out.

    Hi Saric83,

I had a question RE: your reception. How many guests did you have? I'm a little worried about the reception costs. They're adding up quick! My hopes are that my guests book 75+ room nights so I get the unlimited private function and cocktail hour. That will cover the food + alcohol costs of the reception, however I was told that it's still $30.00 per person to have your reception outdoors (even if you receive the free private function). Is this what you paid? Or did you have your reception indoors? I have also contacted Zuniga. I plan on having the reception on the sky terrace next to the pool. I have confirmed with Zuniga on getting floating candles, reception table decor, and purple lights under the table. I'd love to hear about what you had!

Only thing I'd forgotten when ordering was asking to print addressees & return addresses. I tried for hours to match the color purple as seen on inside of passport, but b/c of the paper & shiny finish it dulls the color a bit. But, they're only envelopes, so I got as close as possible & printed them all out in one night =) And best part of all, I was able to find the same script font online that IDS had used for the passports!!

I'm super excited to finally be sending these out. ..Hope you all love them, b/c I do!!

**The purple came out really dark in pictures [my camera doesn't take blues/purples well], so it's much lighter & matches great in person! But you can get the drift!**

    Dear Matt,

Thank you for these pictures! They're stunning!! I actually contacted Del Sol photography and they sent me this slideshow. You did an amazing job! My ceremony is at 6:00 p.m. in July 2013. Del Sol Photography gave me that time suggestion. Beach Palace won't do a 5 or 5:30, so I had to go with 6 p.m. Thank you for these photos! We had this problem. The hotel was completely booked when we got there and couldn't use any of our credits towards a room upgrade. We ended up getting A LOT of wine with ours. I also went to the spa and got a massage and my hair/makeup done. My suggestion, if you end up having a lot of credits is to get a nice bottle of wine w/every meal. We didn't realize until our second to the last day we could have done this. We ended up taking a bunch home with us - which ended up costing us more at the airport b/c my bag was so heavy.

Yea, I figured that would be a problem. I know you mentioned you only had a group of about 10. I plan on having 30 guests, so about 15 rooms. I didn't do the group block. If my guests don't book till February 2013 or later (wedding is in July 2013) do you think they'll have any issues getting a room? I know some of my guests are slackers when it comes to actually booking their trips (last minute!), but I don't want them to not be able to get a room at all! A little nervous about not having the blocked off rooms :( What do you think? How far in advance did you and guests book your trip before wedding?

    I appreciate all your help!!!
