  1. In my opinion, it is not too far for young guests to walk, but it might be a stretch for older people. I would not have been able to have it there if we couldn't have the bus take our elderly guests all the way to Playa Azul. Our wedding was in May and the construction was no issue for us at a 5:30pm ceremony. Definitely nothing that got in the way of photos and I can't imagine that any noise would travel that far down the beach. If your guests are young, I would say it might be worth it. good luck!!
  2. I am so sorry it took me this long to respond..I actually got my account frozen for posting a review of my hair and make-up vendor in the wrong spot (which meant I couldn't send any messages)!! Grrr. Anyway, I hope it's not too late. I think that in your case, the cupcakes would be fine. Because both my son and I are gluten sensitive, it was worth it to me to get the whole cake (I had been dieting and I knew that I would eat my fair share My cake was vanilla with white frosting and chocolate cream on one inside layer. I originally wanted the "look" of fondant, but Raquel doesn't use fondant and I ended up happy that she doesn't. I loved the taste of the frosting and I really don't like the taste of fondant much. Our reception was outdoors at night and unfortunately I don't have a good photo of the cake yet (it will be awhile before we have our professional photos...sigh...). Anyway, good luck! Let me know if you have any other questions. ~Stephanie
  3. It is a 2 night stay during some times of the year and 3 nights at other times (which is what I had to do this May). It was still cheaper for us than the $500.
  4. Kard, I just got married May 3rd and I used Pan Libre. The gf cake was amazing and the Barcelo Maya Palace did not charge anything extra for them to bring it onto the property. If it is allergy related and they can't provide an acceptable alternative, they can't really make a big deal of it. I had them deliver it to my room the next day and we snacked on it for two days after. Even my husband loved it (and he hates gf food!). Good luck. Stephanie
  5. We were married at Playa Azul without the palapa and although it was really far from the Palace, they shuttled everyone down there and it worked out great. The area is so beautiful and so much more private, I think it's great without the palapa also. I don't have many pics back yet, but it was gorgeous! Good luck.
  6. Wet first thought we wouldn't at all but ended up using the live music just at the very end as our guests were chatting etc after we walked back down the aisle to our own music. The ceremony music on the ipod during the entire ceremony went perfectly smoothly and I didn't regret it one bit. I hardly noticed the flutist that played at the very end. People said he was talented, but he didn't add much imo. They were really good at playing the music for me just as I requested.
  7. Keep Pressing for the Playa Azul area!. We had ours at the very end on May 3rd at Playa Azul and there was another wedding pretty close to us. There is room multiple weddings there and it wasn't a problem for either of our wedding parties (imo). Good luck
  8. Sara Tamargo is AMAZING! She did my make-up and her partner did my hair for my wedding on May 3rd, 2013. I don't have the professional photos back yet but she did a perfect job. I asked her if we could come to her place since the resort charged such a ridiculous rate for outside vendors. She invited us to her home, gave us snacks and made us feel perfectly at home. My make-up was absolutely perfect and it survived many, many tears during the ceremony!! Do not hesitate to book her. She is absolutely one of the best in the area and definitely the sweetest too! She is a vendor here on this website and she can also be reached at [email protected]
