If the charge isn't for the weekend then I'm not sure what it would be for. I was just married two weeks ago and I did not have to pay a fee to use the gazebo.  I'd argue with them and ask for specific documentation as to what the charge is for and to show you where it is in your contract/package. 

I think you just need to tell them that your aunt is marrying you and they shouldn't charge the fee. As for the gazebo fee, is your ceremony on the weekend? I thought I saw somewhere that they charge for weekend weddings.

We got our guys' linen shirts at old navy for super cheap and their linen pants from Macys when they were on sale (Cubavera is the brand). We got their flip flops from American Eagle. I think the whole outfit was $50-75 each.  Groom got his attire and shoes from Tommy Bahama.  Here's a pic.

I was listening to our wedding playlists last night and started crying lol.  The memories are all so still fresh and raw-- good memories and happy tears though

I didn't even think about tipping the staff! Def. something I put on my to-do list. Those look great! I just MADE my boarding pass invitations and luggage RSVP cards. I was going to buy it off ETSY but they were charging me $500.00 for 60 invitations. So I spent my weekend slaving away

We used Flores Riviera Maya and were so happy with the results! http://www.floresrivieramaya.com/eng/ I had family members meet them at the front of the hotel to pick up the centerpieces. Vendor fee avoided

In lieu of a bag, I'd suggest getting guests 32oz bubba kegs to take. I got them for our bridal party and everyone lives them and used them.

Congrats!!! That's so awesome you aren't letting that added stress get to you. I leave tomorrow, yikes!!! Actually we don't fly out til Friday at 6am but the airport is a couple hours away so we are going tomorrow and staying at the hostel by the airport so we can relax and not have to get up quite so early. All my wedding goods took 2 suitcases and now I have to pack for myself so We are probably going to 4 suitcases plus our carry ons. One friend is able to take a 2nd bag for freest she's taking one. The only thing I'm stressed about is the weather in playa del carmen. The weather channel says rain, rain, rain but I'm trying not to look at it since I can't control it anyway. Also a little stressed about music. We are using iPod and the reception list I just sort of through together. I'm thinking of just making another play list and putting it on shuffle. Can't believe the time is finally here for all of us!

I'd love to see pictures!!! I don't know how to get to it on FB though? Is it a page?  

Well girls...today's the day and I've been completely calm but the butterflies are starting to form! Lol! Silly really...just excited! Lol! Hoping the weather stays beautiful and the day goes off without a hitch! Good luck to the rest of the brides this weekend too!

I'm leaving next Fri and I am so stressed about centerpieces.  I was going to take lanterns that I bought but am rethinking that because they are going to be hard to pack. I was hoping I might be able to get something there..

I have no idea what the guidelines are.... A friend that got married in January tipped as following:  

$50 for the coordinator, $20 or so for the hair, $100 for the waitstaff, $50 for DJ and $50 for photog

Question-- what is everyone planning to tip their vendors/staff etc?

For those that have gotten married at the Royal or will be soon, what did you or do you plan to tip the various vendors and staff? I leave next thur and am trying to decide how much u need to take for tipping. Thank you!

Not sure how much time you have left, but you may want to buy a portable steamer. They pack pretty well and don't take that much space. I'm bringing two for the girls and the guys just in case anything gets wrinkled.

The lady who did my alterations ha suggested that I let her roll my dress and pack it in a carry on suitcase. I was planning on just asking the airline to hang it but then heard that jet blue doesn't have a coat closet. Packing it in a suitcase will be easier in the long run but will also take away from my clothing allowance haha! Ill probably have her pack it with my finances shirt/pants and a bathing suit for each of us and change of clothes for each of us just in case. Hoping to finish clothes shoppin this weekend and then will really be all set to go!

Alright party people. We're heading out this morning. I just wanted to give one final "Safe travels, good luck, early congrats" to all of you ladies, as I'll be in Mexico the next 18 days. You guys are awesome and I can't wait to come back and hear how beautiful all of your weddings were. I'll try to get on here while i'm down there to give updates to a few of you Playa Del Carmen ladies on what's available on 5th and at Wal-mart. Two things we did last minute, that I wanted to suggest: 1. Call your bank and let them know you'll be out of the country 2. Updated my phone plan to International Coverage for a temporary period. It's $.99/minute, $.50 text messages out and $.05 text messages in. I also paid $25 for 100GB of data while I'm down there b/c that costs more as well when you go out of the US. Since we'll be there for an extended period of time, I wanted to be sure I could post pics, reach out to the fam, etc. That's it! Have an amazing time, ladies! And remember, if something is stressing you out at this point in the game, cut it out of the agenda. They didn't give us any issue... you just had to designate for the servers who was getting what. We had these for every guest, and the different beach themed stuff (sand dollar, sea horse, etc.) would indicate which meal they were getting. Also, I provided my WC with a seating chart (I made it in Powerpoint), so they knew who was getting what meal.

 

 

I had a few people in our group get their hair and/or makeup done by the Spa and they all looked great. You can see pictures in my review.
