  1. Hi Girls, I've just returned for my week at Be Live Grand Marien and wanted to share my wedding experience. We had a group for 44, and everyone had a great week. Most guests got upgraded to oceanview for free. We requested to be in building 9, because we heard it was a newer building. We didn't ask for an upgrade because not all the rooms were ready and we were just happy to get into a room once we arrive. Building 9 was very nice and big! We had the Sea Horse package, and had to pay extra for flowers and cake as they were not included, but we were very happy with the price and what we received. We paid $100 for the cake, and $70 for my bouquet of white roses, grooms boutineer and a centerpiece for the ceremony and we also used it at the reception. The cake was way more than we needed. We had the top tier left over after the wedding. They provided the cake topper also. We chose the BBQ for the buffet dinner and everyone loved it. There was more than enough food. I originally wanted the ceremony in the "garden area" but found out when we arrived that it was just steps from the beach so wouldn't be as private as i thought, and still as windy as the beach, so we went with the beach wedding. I was able to use my own music for the ceremony and requested a microphone, but we didn't have one. It was a very windy day and no one would hear our vows. We wrote our own vows so it was nice to have it private between just him and I. I realize that if we had a microphone, it would have picked up the wind blowing and wouldn't have sounded much better. The resort provided black chair ties, but did not have black runners for the tables. I brought my own centerpieces and runners to save some money and it make it more my style. I gave the wedding planner my decorations when I arrived and she had it all set up and gave me enough time to check the reception hall out before the wedding incase we wanted to change anything. We had an ipod with our own music for first dance and the dj did not speak english, but we had one of the wait staff explain what we wanted. The dj had a good selection of English music for the reception, we had a lot of people up dancing. We only had dj and bar service for 5 hours, so when we were done we had everyone move to the disco to continue the party. Overall the wedding was better than I expected. I was worried about last minute charges (one friend had to pay extra for a microphone, podium, coloured chair ties,) these were all included. If you have any questions feel free to message me!
  2. Thanks girls for all the information! Lizrmt - Congraduations on your wedding! sorry to hear everyone was sick. At least it sounds like you worked around it and didn't let it ruin everything. I have a family member doing our photos also. Was there any fee or problem with this? For the ceremony did you have your own music? I have some songs I'd like and was told to bring a USB, but I'm wondering if I can take an ipod or how the ceremony music is set up. Did you email Audrey ahead to reserve the table in the buffet, or did you just do it once you got there? It's a really good idea. Dominibride - What was the room like for the reception? We asked for the "Seahorse package" so we get a private buffett and dj. Are you doing something similar?
  3. Dominibride - did you go to check out the resort before your wedding? I'm starting to wish I did that. I have so many questions for Audry and it seems she just wants me plan stuff once I get there, but I'm concerned what prices will be for things like centerpieces etc. I'd rather take it with me if I can! Can't wait to hear about your visit there!
  4. Lizrmt - You must be excited to soon be in the dominican! I hope everything everything is going smoothly, I've been finding it a bit difficult working through the details and knowing what to expect. I haven't been able to get a price list for extra items. I hope you're wedding is everything you expected! Keep us posted when you get back on how it went and I'd love to see some pictures.
  5. Yomaly is at the resort but no longer the wedding planner. The new person is Audry email: [email protected] At first I was getting emails back from Audry but the last one had no response. I also had to email my deposit. I didnt hear anything back but the deposit was taken off my credit card so I know they got it.
  6. We are trying to keep it to 50 guests but our parents are pushing for more. We alredy requested the Sea Horse packagewhich says max 50 guests. For 60 guests is it the same package but different location?
  7. I will be getting married there April 11, 2013! We are just starting the reservations and getting all the information.
