    Hey Everyone!

My fiancee and I are getting married at the GPLH on Jan 18, 2013 at 10am. By the time we booked in April, the only spots left were 10am :(

We're having a private reception at Posideons at 7pm.

My biggest concern is what to do with the guests between the ceremony and the reception/dinner. We thought about chartering a bus to take us into  Montego Bay and do shopping and food. But I'm just not sure. It is a long time between the ceremony and reception. I don't want my hair to get wrecked and my makeup to melt off. I guess everyone could just do their own thing, I just hate that they got up early and got all dressed up for 30mins of ceremony and then have to cool their heels for so long in between. Was just wondering if you guys have any suggestions?

I would imagine everyone would get undressed and enjoy the pool, weather, beaches ect. for the time in between and then just get showered and dressed for the evening reception just like they would any other day that they are there. You could definitely do a group excursion and offer it to those that want to hang out with the new bride and groom for the day though. I am not familiar with all of the excursions offered but I am guessing you wouldn't want one that involves swimming or ruining your hair and make up. What if you did a ladies shopping trip and the men went golfing? There is a golf course close by?

Our wedding is costing a lot too.  I have 50 ppl so far confirmed, so technically thats $20 pp for the ceremony and at least $45pp for the private dinner reception.  Plus the cost of the actual ceremony package, plus entertainment at the ceremony and reception, plus additional flowers for bm and gm, etc.  Add your trip and dress in there and tt all adds up!

Let me know if you have any other questions!

    Hey Amanda,

That would be awesome if you could send their price list! What wedding package are you booking? We are going with Island pearl(I think it is called) and in the description it lists wedding photos-I wonder what this entails?

Yes, I agree with you-I think 2 hrs would cover what we really need and then friends and family can take pics getting ready and at the reception.

We are budgeting about 10 grand total for everything(more then we anticipated when we decided to do a destination wedding) but it is still less expensive then doing a wedding at home and we get a whole week to celebrate with friends and family. D

o you have any idea what bouquets for the bridesmaids cost?

Looks like we are arriving and getting married the week after you!

  3. Hey Ladies,

Have any of you booked a photographer yet? OR at least done any research? I just started looking and am wondering if anyone has any advice? I am hoping to keep photography at $1000.......not sure if this is possible but I didn't expect the wedding to cost so much money! I am a little annoyed that we have to pay $20pp after 8 ppl to attend our ceremony!! It does not make sense to me! We are having about 40 ppl attend our wedding and private reception.

  4. Hey all,

We are getting married May 2 at Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton and we are looking for some recommendations on photographers. We are looking to NOT spend a ton on this, our wedding package includes some photos but have heard they are not great. Id like to have some candids pre ceremony and some nice photos on the beach after the ceremony.

    Can anyone help?

    Thank you!

  5. Courtbestbride-if you could pass on photos of the Poseidon that would be awesome! [email protected]

I have already booked the Blue Lagoon but may be able to change it if I change my mind I suppose?

I heard the Poseidon had amazing sunsets, but thats all I heard. I do love the look of the Blue Lagoon.

Are you bringing any extra decorations with you? Or just going with what the resort does? When is your date?

    Thanks so much!

  6. Hey ladies! We are getting married at GP May 2 2013 on the beach at 4pm. We haven't decided on the reception location yet. I really wanted the Blue Lagoon but after reading some reviews, we may go with the Poseidon as well. I have not seen any pictures or know what it is like at all! I just sent in my deposit today so I am really hoping they got it as I am also putting my deposit down with my TA to secure 20 rooms at the resort. Still contemplating on whether or not we will pay for a photographer(not really sure what is included in our package) or if we will pay for a DJ. Initially I was thinking we would bring our IPOD but the resort charges $500 to use their dock and speakers anyway. So for an extra 500 a DJ may be the way to go? What are you all doing?
