  1. Jello, do you have Jackie's email address? I emailed [email protected] and they sent me some basic info right away, but I emailed a follow-up question 10 days ago and never heard back, then I emailed again 5 days ago to schedule a tasting and sent another follow-up 2 days ago, but still have not heard anything. I'm starting to think this is a bad sign...
  2. Yep, Cabanas Tulum has a nice selection of rooms, I think. I'll post as to how we liked everything in person after we get back.
  3. Thanks for posting, this is helpful! We are doing our site visits in a couple weeks, and are looking at Ana y Jose, Las Ranitas, and Cabanas Tulum. We have tried to contact Ak'iin Beach Club, but no one has responded to us. I have the same concern you had about the room situation -- namely that I want people to be able to pick a place that fits their needs and budget, without worrying about meeting some quota. The menu at Las Ranitas sounds so awesome, though! I guess we will just have to see when we are down there. Our guest list has ballooned to 200 now, too, so that may be a constraint. Keep us updated on how the planning goes! Kate
  4. It sounds like your wedding must have taken place last Spring. If you have time would you be able to post a review? I just got engaged and am also considering Ak'iin and Ana y Jose (also Cabanas Tulum, El Pez, and la Zebra). Thanks! Kate
  5. Ditto on the pictures, they look amazing. Can anyone currently working with Ana y Jose tell me how it is going (Marcela or anyone)? I just got engaged and am considering Ana y Jose as a venue, but there do not seem to be a lot of recent reviews, and I read a very negative review on TripAdvisor mentioning new, rude management and rapidly inflating prices. Any up-to-date info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Kate
  6. I say "vendors" because I'm assuming they are a unique group of people likely to have eaten at a variety of real weddings in Tulum, but I would appreciate input from anyone who has eaten at a wedding in Tulum. My goal here is to figure out what places are likely to have the best food on the actual day of the wedding. Of course we will do site visits and have a tasting at some point. The problem is that anyone can make great food for a two-person tasting, but it is very hard to make great food for a 75- or 100-person event. Thus... forum members, I turn to you for real-life experiences at bigger events in Tulum. Some background, in case it helps: my fiance and I are food lovers who live in New York (in the West Village). Some of our favorite restaurants in New York are Fedora, Joseph Leonard, Vinegar Hill House, Eleven Madison Park, I Sodi, Fatty 'Cue, and all the Momofukus (if that helps pin us down at all -- sorry I know those are all pretty different). RIght now Cabanas Tulum is at the top of my list because of a variety of factors, but I'm not sure if the food there is good. A friend was recently in Tulum and said Hartwood was amazing, but it doesn't sound like the type of place where you could host a wedding (please correct me if I am wrong). Thanks in advance for your advice! Kate
