I am no where near the 150 post count. But I have so many questions and so many other threads to explore. I guess i need to comment more and say what's on my mind at every moment rather than just read and make notes. lol.

Ok I guess I'm working my way up slowly.     But it would be nice if the posting limit is lower. It would help out alot for those of us who are not taking a year plus to plan. Just a thought.

Which Barcelo Resort are you having the wedding at? I would love to hear a full review. If we are at the same resort I will have a ton of questions for you.

So now that I switched resorts most of my guests are upgrading their rooms. It's kind of funny because I switched resorts to it will be more affordable for everyone. One of my friends said today. Since it is cheaper we can now afford to upgrade. I guess everyone has the same out look. I'm really excited because I gave a deadline of today being the day everyone needs to pay their deposit. And people are calling the TA to make their payments!     I set up the payments alittle different. I know I'm dealing with people that will wait until the last possible day to say they want to come and pay up. Because of this I created payment days that are different than the days the travel agent provided us will. Instead of the deposit being $50 per sperson to hold the room, I told them that it is $100. And instead of telling them the final payment is due in August I gave them July. I figured that leaves room for the late comers. I also made sure I emphasized on the fact that the group rate can go up if the deposit is not paid by a certain date.

I'm planning my wedding at BBPD on October 15th and the thread above has helped alot. The other one is a thread that I started. TRivera did a site visit not too long ago and she has posted some pictures and gave a very detailed site review. I know if you PM her she will send you the pictures that she took while out there. She has sent me a bunch of info. Have you started the process or are youshoping around right now?

I know they do hair in the DR but I'm not sure how well they do natural hair. I try to avoid heat. But I'm fine with heat to style my hair for the wedding. I just don't want excessive heat on my hair. I say just make sure you have plenty of conditioner and oil with you for the trip so you can keep your hair protected while you enjoy the beach.

I was interested in Hot Yoga a month ago but couldn't find anyone I knew that tried it. I wanted to know what the results were. But thanks to this thread I will sign up for classes this week.

I'm natural as well and I've been wondering what would be the prettiest style for me. I just cut my hair really short a month before my FI proposed. Now I'm wondering if I should have done that. I have until October so I think I will be wearing my hair in tiny twists as a low maintenance protective style so it can grow. As long as I keep it healthy and moisturized I should gain 4 inches by then.

Ugh. The guy she hired instead is probably lazy and doesn't do half as good of job as she would have. She might have been jealous.

We are doing the legal stuff here to make it easier and cheaper for us. We will do it a week or so before. We see it as just getting the formalities out of the day. We aren't even looking at it as us already being married before we get there. His folks know but that is about it. When we first started looking at a DW we were against it because we viewed it as defeating the purpose. But then the more we looked at the wedding costs and then realized that the legal fees were extra, our point of view changed. We just went under contract on our first home so the extra money can go somewhere else.

I'm glad to see that so many other brides are doing the same thing. To me it's not that serious. As long as we are legally married when the wedding is over that is all we care about.

Hey Fellow BBPD Brides!

I confirmed our wedding date, time and package this week. Can anyone tell me what the process is now? We were initially going with a different resort and we received a welcome package explaining everything. It also had every single fee, the process and cancellation info in the packet. After we confirmed we haven't received anything else. And we did not pay a deposit for the wedding package yet. Can someone that has gone through this let me know what to expect? It's a little weird in a sense because I feel like I haven't really done anything.

Don't stress. I was concerned but I did some research before I picked October. I believe it only rains for a short period of time. Like 15 mins and then it's over and the sun is out again. So you have nothing to worry about. I was going with PPC too but now I'm looking at Barcelo Bavaro Palace deluxe. I wanted to lower the costs some more for our guests.

I have a question and I wonder if anyone knows the answer to this. Are you doing the legal or symbolic cerrmony? Do you happen to know if they discount the packages any if you only want a symbolic wedding?

Can you send me some more information regarding the packages and what all is included. As well as the extras and Menu. It seems like they only send one piece at a time.

Which for resorts did you visit when you did your site visit? My FI wants to know if you visited Ocean Blue by any chance. We have been looking at both this week.

Thanks for the pictures. They are nice. I roof looks really niiiice. But we may just do the bar-higuey to stay with in budget. I do like that pool. I think it should give us enough of a "look". I sent them an email requesting information and to potentially start the process. Wish us luck!!

Hahaha Yes the ever so annoying " why are you having it there"? Honestly people are only saying this because they realize they don't have the money to go. But like I've said a million times. I'm not paying a bunch of money for other people to eat. And for them to feel better. At the end of the day the wedding is about the wedding couple. Although I would love to see a everyone we invited there. If someone can't make it then oh well. My FI and I will be happy and have a great time either way.

I just want to get everything down so I don't have anything to do at the last minute. But I guess that is impossible. Since we are 7 months away I thought I was behind. Thanks!

Thanks for the head's up. I make sure to compare the prices. So I can stay ahead of the game. I really hope they will stick with my TA and not book on their own. I need the group rate to stay.

Hahaha I like that response. People want you to rush through big moments in life. But the ones that rush are the ones that don't make it. Yup I was asked when am I getting married way too much as well. After a while I tune people out.

I just send her an email. I made sure it was super sweet and bubbly. I said I know that she is really excited and just wants to help.....blah..blah...blah. Let's see how she reacts, and if she takes the assignments.
