  1. Oh and Venus if you're still on here...where did you get your flat sandals from?? I'm looking for a pair right now and havent had much luck..I'm not wearing heels at all *sigh* because my FI is only 2 inches taller then me and I refuse to be taller then him on my wedding day lol...normally I do wear heels so I am finding it hard to find sandals that are dressy enough...my dress is an offwhite so I'm thinking about just going with silver..alot of the gold sandals I find look cheap...

  2. prices do not include taxes..you will be charged 16% tax on top...thats all i know lol...did people tip their photographers?? I was under the impression the fee was enough

quick question..for the appetizers...For example for the $35 menu it says you get ceaser salad and chorizo so do you get both or a choice of 1 or the other?? thanks ladies!

And its OFFICIAL!! date has been booked for January 16th...Dreams Palm Beach booked for gazebo ceremony...yay!! So glad it's official!

  3. We didn't have time to check out Now Larimer....from what I've heard its an overall decent resort but the food is really hit or miss. Jellyfish can for sure fit 60-70 ppl with a dance floor inside...not sure what the actual capacity is tho..if you find out I would love to know!! There is the upstairs as well that if you NEEDED to you could put people there...

  4. Oh and ladies I just got back from a site visit to about 10 different resorts in Punta Cana and I think we have all made a good decision :) We loved how everything is within a 5-10 minute walk, the rooms are really nice, grounds very well kept, great pools, restaurants looked really nice (we didn't get in any of them bc we were only doing a tour of the resort) and the coffee shop is a nice added bonus as well.  It also seems like they have a really good entertainment program and activities going on all the time.  It's going to be great!

  5. Hello Ladies....can anyone who has been here advise how the nightlife/entertainment is at the resort? We will have at least 10 single ppl coming and want to make sure they will have a good time as well...how was the disco/sports bar? I noticed it says there is late night snack at the buffet...what does that include & can you get drinks there late night as well? Is the lobby a big enough size to meet up and have drinks with your group? Thanks!

  6. Well Ladies....I just got back from my trip to Punta Cana to check out resorts and Jellyfish...believe me we have all made an excellent decision!! Let me just say that FI was not sold on doing our reception off resort & literally as soon as we pulled up to the restaurant and got our table he was already saying lets do it at Jellyfish. Food - I took Greg here for his birthday dinner & we had..appetizer - tempura shrimp...delicious! Main we shared the seafood grill that had lobster, langoustines, shrimp, fish, conch & also comes with a side antipasto platter & rice... Omg it was all amazing...so much food & everything was delicious. The presentation on the food was really good as well. It is the same quality of food you would expect from a restaurant in Canada or the US & was hands down the best meal we had all week. The resort food didn't even compare. Also, we went to my cousins wedding while we were there at the Gran Bahia Principe and her wedding dinner was a joke...that also made us realize how much better Jellyfish is for a wedding reception. Ambiance - this is what sold us...it is the perfect blend of modern, rustic and tropical if that makes sense lol. You totally get the beach casual vibe and all the wood & stone is amazing...but it still seems modern bc the food, service etc is so great & they were playing awesome music. The lighting in the restaurant is amazing!! The lighting on the bar and all the warm lighting around the restaurant makes the best ambiance...there is no need to worry about it being too bright or having ugly fluorescent lighting...it's perfect! I wish I could post pics but I can't :( All I can say is don't worry...this was the best decision you've made & get excited! Your guests are gonna love it! Service - we had a lot of different servers dropping off food & clearing our table etc...they are so nice and friendly...probably because they are working for their tips compared to the resort where they know half the ppl don't tip so they don't care. We met Mayte and she is so warm And genuine...she gave us both big hugs and just asked us to be patient bc she deals with the weddings that are close first... She says right now she has 200 emails that need to be responded to but when it's closer to your day she is on top of it...and I believe her...there really isn't much communication you need until maybe 2 months before the wedding. She will make everything happen don't worry! I will also mention that we were so hot this trip & at my cousins wedding it was so hot my aunt almost passed out...there was no breeze & everyone was so sweaty it was gross. Having dinner at Jellyfish we were so comfortable....there was the perfect breeze and we weren't sweating at all...it was perfect!!

  7. Just to clarify...so you added up what the total cost of your wedding was and divided between the amount of people you had & thats what the cost ended up being per person?? That's alot better then I thought!! and that was including DJ Mannias fees?? Is alcohol included or do you have to pay a fee per hour per person?? I am noticing alot of resorts charge that....

  8. Does anyone know what the actual capacity of the restaurant is? We are estimating about 60 people and just wondering if we can still do the dancing inside if we have that many people? Also, to those who have been there..did you find it was really windy?? I went on vimeo and typed in Jellyfish Punta Cana and there are tons of wedding videos on there which is great to get ideas!! But alot of them looked like it was really windy..just wondering! Thanks ladies!

  9. One of my fiances good friends is a florist and owns his own shop...for our friends wedding he made up the bouquets and boutonnieres and our friends brought them with them...I honestly thought they were real!!!! My fiance was a groomsmen so I spent alot of time with him while he was wearing his boutonnier and I was dancing with him and everything and had no idea they were fake till later on in the night..the next day the maid was cleaning the brides room and she put the flowers in water thinking they were real lol..Im still torn whether to go real or not because I love flowers but really, they overcharge HUUUUGE in the Dominican and our friends literally saved over $500 using the real touch flowers...thats alot of money that can be put towards something else..especially when noone noticed they were fake until they told us!

  10. So pretty Alex!! Everything looked awesome! And *****'s blog & review are amazing! I just want to say for all the brides out there who are afraid if they don't do their wedding at Jellyfish it's going to suck....it won't!! My fiances sister got married at the Majestic Colonial and did a poolside reception and it was beautiful...it honestly was..mind you she brought alot of items for decor herself but it was private and we had a DJ and dancing and great dinner and didn't even notice if there were other people around...so don't think if you can't do it at Jellyfish it's going to be a bad experience because I don't think it will.  That being said we also had friends do their wedding at Ocean Blue and put no effort into it and it wasn't that great...we still had a good time because we were with friends but basically at the resorts you get what you put into them.  Either way I think Jellyfish is a great option to get off the resort and look forward to checking it out in less than a month!!

  11. I got a response from Mayte 2 days ago....she said she's really busy lately..I guess May and June are crazy!! She has 24 weddings in June alone...nuts! Makes me feel like I'm choosing the right place though if it's this popular...Thank Venus for the kids prices! We are just in the initial planning stage so we will decide further down the line if open bar or a tab is better for us...at least with open bar there are no worries or wondering what the bill is gonna be at the end of the night...I have another question for you ladies who have gotten your quote already...What does the $500 decor package for the reception include? I'm assuming linens, chair sashes, center pieces? Does it include the table numbers and name cards as well?? Thanks ladies!!

  12. Darcy from what I can remember they just have 1 main swim up bar but its big...and they have a couple other bars around the pool that arent swim up....

We are booked in for January 13th 2013!! yay!! I'm still a little concerned about the pricing of the bar bc that is what seems to be blowing the budget...does anybody know how much they charge per drink? I'm wondering if it would be cheaper to go that route bc most of our family are not big drinkers at all...our friends however drink more then most people haha..I still think it might end up better to do a tab...does anyone know what they charge for kids for dinner/non alcoholic drinks? Thanks ladies! So excited!!

  13. Thanks Kirsten for the tips!! Funny thing...my fiances sister got married at Majestic Elegance and used Phil as her photographer so I'm familiar with both lol!! Unfortunatly ME is just too expensive now (when we went 3 years ago it was brand new and only $1500/person..now we got quoted over $1700..too much to ask our guests to pay)..but we are looking into the Majestic Colonial..its closer to our price range of $1500..we are also looking at Dreams Palm Beach...you just cant beat the gazebos at the Majestics though so we'll see!! I'm hoping with the fire the Colonial will go a little cheaper lol...so excited to go in June and check out Jellyfish! FI isn't sold yet but I'm hoping once we are there he will be!!

  14. Hello ladies! I am new to this thread and havent chosen a resort yet, although this is our top pick right now.  We are hoping to get married January 12, 2013..possibly doing our reception at Jellyfish..we arent making any decisions until after the first week of June because we are actually going to Punta Cana for 5 days to check some resorts out!! I never in a million years thought I would be able to do that but fiances mom owns a travel agency and heard about a deal from Sunwing...my fiance and I are going June 4-8...we paid $400 each all taxes included and got to pick where we wanted to stay (we picked DPB)...and they are going to take us around to a couple different resorts to check them out..and if we book our wedding trip with Sunwing we get the $800 back as a credit towards our trip...so basically its free!! If any of you are interested check with Sunwing to see if they still have spots available.  I'll be checking out all the reception locations at DPB and report back to you!!
