  1. Our guest list is growing! I was hoping to keep it at or below 40, but we're at 38 with several "probably"s. I was kind of bummed out because this means we won't get to have a plated dinner, but after reading some of the posts in here...it sounds like the advantage of having a buffet dinner is there are more options. For those of you who chose to swap out the cocktail hour for more guests at dinner, were you happy with your decision? I read somewhere else in this thread that the guests can just go hit up a bar somewhere at the resort until the dinner reception begins. What do you ladies think? XO, Abi
  2. Hi Jen, My bride twin! Our reception will be at 4pm as well, but on the beach and the same times as you for the cocktail hour and reception. I had told Cecilia that the availability of Himitsu Beach for the reception was essential for us choosing Dreams. We haven't chosen the location for our cocktail hour. The most important things for me were the ceremony and reception being on a beach. December 14th seems sooooo far away, doesn't it? Abi
  3. I ended up just scanning and emailing them the info. If anything goes wrong with my card, I'll know who to go after...lol. Sooooo, I guess I'm officially a Dreams Bride now! Yay!!!
  4. I got my contract from Cecilia on Wednesday! She didn't specify how to get anything to her, but I figure I'll just print out the contract and credit card authorization, sign them, scan them, and email them to her (along with the copy of my driver's license and credit card). Is that correct? Thanks, Abigail
  5. It's been a full week since Cecilia told me she was going to put together a contract for me and I haven't received anything. My travel agent's supplier is negotiating a group rate with Dreams and I'm supposed to have the pricing by tomorrow. I just don't want to start blasting the info to my guests until I know for sure that Cecilia has reserved Himitsu beach for the wedding...How long did it take you ladies to get your contracts? I'm wondering if I should shoot her an email today to find out where she is in the process, but I don't want to come across as impatient either...
  6. I've wondered the same thing! Since I was a little girl, I've always wanted to wear a veil for my wedding! However, in nearly all the beach wedding pics I've seen, they're not wearing veils so I wasn't sure if it's considered odd to wear a veil for a beach wedding. I'm not having the ceremony at the gazebo though. Is it typically windy on the beach? Abi
  7. Thanks for the info ladies! I heard back from Cecilia this morning and it's all GREAT news! I'm actually one of the odd ones who does not want the ceremony at the gazebo, lol. I want to be barefoot on the beach (my feet sweat bad too and I'd rather not wear shoes). Cecilia sent me a document with pictures of the floral arches and canopies for beach ceremonies AND said that since we are having our ceremony on the beach, 4pm IS available! Additional awesome news is that we can have our entire wedding at Himitsu Beach since it is still available! Leigh, I love your idea of saving money on the dancefloor and DJ and instead taking over Desires, haha! That's probably what we'll end up doing! So here's a pic Cecilia sent me of what's included in the beach ceremony (no extras). I definitely want some type of floral canopy to "frame" the ceremony. I'm also attaching the document Cecilia sent me in case there are ladies out there, like me, who aren't crazy about the gazebo and prefer a beach ceremony. Floral Archs.doc
  8. Hello ladies! I'm new here (I don't feel new though since I've been lurking on here for the past couple of weeks!). My wedding date is Friday 12/14/12. I am pretty set on that date because it is my parents' wedding anniversary and I thought it'd be special to make it ours as well. I haven't officially decided on a resort yet, but I'm leaning very strongly towards Dreams Cancun. Up until yesterday (when I heard from Cecilia), I was absolutely sure that Dreams Cancun was where I wanted to have my wedding, but it turns out that the time we requested (4pm) is already taken (the sun will set at 5:09pm). Cecilia said that 2pm is still available. I've read some of the posts on this thread, and it seems like the resort is fairly flexible on the starting times for the cocktail hour and reception, right? I read a bride's post about how she was told by the WC that even in January a cocktail hour and reception at 2pm-5pm would be too hot. So now that has me worried about a 2pm ceremony in December! I get hot very easily and sweat really bad and am horrified at the thought of me sweating like a pig during our ceremony. Anyway, I emailed Cecilia a couple of questions and told her I would like answers before deciding on them 100% (I was 100% until she said 2pm). I asked if it would be possible to begin the cocktail hour and reception later in the day when it's cooler, rather than immediately after a 2pm ceremony. I also asked if a reception at Himitsu Beach is still available. I'm hoping that whoever already has the 4pm wedding that day hasn't already reserved Himitsu Beach...keeping my fingers crossed...
