  1. Beautiful pictures and wedding! Makes me very excited for my wedding! Thank you for sharing!!!
  2. I am from Iowa, does anyone know if I can get my marriage certificate here and bring it to Jamaica instead so I don't have to wait forever to receive mine. Or do we have to have a marriage certifcate from Jamaica since that is where we are getting married at? I'm confused!
  3. I can't find you on facebook! :-( I want to look at your pictures! :-)
  4. How much for everything? I noticed it was very reasonable on that website! Still waiting to receive my save the dates so I can send them out and figure out how many people are coming! That would be perfect! Congrats! Have so much fun! Can't wait to hear all about it! :-)
  5. Thank you! Found coral ones I am going to order once I know how many people are coming! :-)
  6. How did you know how much tulle to get for the chairs? Did you know the measurements?
  7. I am bothered by the $800 fee as well since we are bringing a friend who is a photographer with us. As I have said before, she said she is confident we won't have to pay it and if for some reason we absolutely have to, she said she would pay it. I have heard bad things about the resort photographers and pictures/video are also very important to me so I do not want to use the GBP photographers!
  8. Thank you! It was a big and hard decision! But, I am glad I did it now. I am done having second thoughts! I am sure when it comes in and I try it on again I will fall in love all over again! I have to keep thinking that the dress will probably be the least of my worries on my wedding day! All that matters is Eric and I!
  9. Thank you! I don't know why it posted twice! Whoops! I have to wait 5-7 months to get it in! I thought it was elegant and would be great on the beach!
  10. TO SEE MY DRESS GO TO: www.maggiesottero.com and type in Adeline Marie in the box and select it from the drop down box! Let me know what you think ladies! ;-)

  12. I bought my dress on Saturday! Let me know what you think! :-) http://www.maggiesottero.com/dress.aspx?style=J1472A&page=0&pageSize=36&keywordText=&keywordType=All
  13. Hi Stay cee1! I guess if we didn't want to do the gazebo for after dinner we could always decide not to since we haven't paid for it yet. I don't know who I am going to order flowers through. Do you? I have heard of Jan's Flowers and Tai Flora for right now. I don't know how we go about picking them out. Does Chandlynn give you a website to pick them out through? I don't know who all to get flowers for. Obviously me, the bridesmaids, maybe some for the groomsmen & parents. I would like them at the gazebo too, but I don't have to have them. Do they have tulle that matches the chair ties to put around the gazebo as well? I'm sure I will just have to email Chandlynn with all these questions haha! I bought my wedding dress yesterday! I keep thinking about if I made the right choice or not, but I have to stop thinking about it as I'm sure every bride goes through this!
  14. And kids are allowed on the beach at the gazebo! The bartender has juices for the children and they can dance and have fun!
  15. We plan on renting the DJ and bartender after dinner at the gazebo where we will get married at. I think the gazebo has lights in it. I think it is 2 hours long. After that, if people want to still party we will go to the disco. We aren't doing a private dinner because of the price tag and the whole reason we are doing a destination wedding is because it truly is cheaper than having a traditional wedding here in Iowa. We are doing a semi-private dinner in one of the restaurants. Not sure if you can choose which one or not. We are getting married at 3 in the afternoon to allow for enough light for after the ceremony for pictures. We are also having a steel drum band at the ceremony. Debating on whether or not to do a sand ceremony as well, but not sure how the sand won't get mixed up on our way home. If anyone has any suggestions please tell me! We are staying at the GBP for 1 week and taking our honeymoon for another week somewhere in Negril. 2 weeks in Jamaica! I know we will rent the chair covers and sashes to match my bridesmaid dresses and my fiance will wear a khaki colored tux and the groomsmen will probably wear white button down shirts with khakis and sandals. Not sure where to order the flowers from. As I will need them for myself, bridesmaids, groomsmen (Maybe) and our parents. I think I may do OOT bags as well...waiting for my save the dates now to arrive in the mail! You will have to let me know which date you choose! We probably won't book until next January or so. My travel agent said 6 months ahead of time is good since it is off season. It would be neat to have our weddings around the same time!
  16. My photographer I am bringing is a friend and she is staying at the resort for at least 3 nights and she said that there is no reason we should have to pay the $800 fee. She said she is that confident that we won't have to - that if they do make us, she will pay it! She has done other destination weddings and has never paid a fee. It is absolutely ridiculous! The hotel photographers at GBP I heard are so bad! They make so much money off of everyone else staying there, if you book a DJ/bartender for the beach, a private dinner, etc, etc! They don't need the $800! Anyway, lcamer - I am getting married at the GBP on June 22, 2013 and couldn't be more excited! I booked the date in February I think because I am a big planner! ;-) Maybe your wedding day will be around the same time mine is!
  17. I can't believe she wants to charge me $800. I told my photographer who is also my friend and a PAYING guest and she said not to worry that I wouldn't have to pay. She's that confident that if I do have to pay she will pay the $800. I was just trying to cover all my bases in letting Chandlyn know everything. Maybe because I am planning so far in advance she is just trying to throw on costs, but she did say the hotel policy on photographers changed 3 weeks ago and any bride before this change would only have to pay $75, but I booked my date 3 weeks ago and that isn't fair to me because she never told me. But I am not going to worry. I refuse to have the resort take my pictures...I heard they were terrible!
  18. I look forward to seeing your save the dates! Is the Pisces $2,500 for the whole night? Are you having a semi-private dinner or private?
  19. Thanks for the quick reply! My friend and photographer told me not to worry...they are just trying to get your money!
  20. Hi Ladies! I am new to this site and I am recently engaged as of February 21, 2012 and I couldn't be more excited to plan my destination wedding! I have the Gran Bahia Principe Jamaica as the resort we are getting married at on June 22, 2013 at 3 PM as they day we are getting married! I would love any advice you can give me. I have gone through a lot of the posts so I know some! We reserved the steel drum band as well and will more than likely have a semi-private dinner and the gazebo/dj/bartender for after dinner and on to the disco! Our photographer is a family friend and she is a paying guest at the resort for 3 nights, 4 days and Chandlyn said we had to pay $800 for her, but she told me friends and family could take pictures? She is a friend, so this doesn't make sense. I refuse to pay $800. She said that the policy changed about 3 weeks ago on photographers. Anyway, I look forward to hearing stories and love all of the information I have come across about the Gran Bahia Principe Jamaica! We also want to stay 2 weeks and take our honeymoon somewhere in Negril, Jamaica. We have a travel agent, but she hasn't started looking up prices yet. We are also doing boarding pass save the dates. I am trying to get everything major out of the way so my guests have time to save! Amanda
  21. Hey everyone! I am trying to plan a destination wedding and I am new to this all! Nothing is booked, but trying to figure out the most affordable, all-inclusive resort for everyone! I love Riu resorts, but I just want opinions, reviews, tips...anything! Thank you! I appreciate it all!
