  1. trivera5521 I am so glad that you had a good time and enjoyed the resort and all if offered. We loved the Hibachi restaurant, but didn't get to try the steak house. The Spanish restaurant was good when went. I did know about the entrance tax and I did inform my guests. I attached a photo of our invite that also has an info card with such information if anyone needed ideas. I chose the pier and would suggest it to brides. Even though the other locations are great, If you are in the public areas you will have other hotel guests in your photos and space. At least on the pier I was told they would set a guard at the entrance to resort guests off it while we have our ceremony. I know that if you really push it with Marlene they will add an additional option to the menu but of course it comes with an additional cost. I know as far as driving in DR, no non DR living person should be behind a wheel. If guests want to venture out the excursion companies will pick you up, or cabs are available. I have been to some of the marine parks and if people want to explore in a controlled manner I would suggest it. We have also been investigating the clubs in the area outside the resort. We found 2, 1 of which we visited and it was awesome called "mangu". The 2nd which has great reviews so far it "imagine". Check it out if your looking for a hard core party night, it looks like a great place. We will TOTALLY be going!
  2. So for the Tiffany chairs they are $16 a chair. I know it's steep but we are only using them for the pier ceremony. Its good to point out that there are lots of unexpected costs when you add things. I hope your getting ready for your visit and we wanna hear all about it. Glad that you will be going with a lot more knowledge then we had to ask the appropriate questions.
  3. Triviera I am more than happy to help. I am totally not trying to have people in the background of my pictures. It was perfect and when you go and it you'll understand. I just saw myself walking down to my fiancée and started to cry. That's how it was when I found u dress and I knew. Hey I appreciate the compliments lol. Nrbc, I don't know about your cocktail hour. I don't believe it's an extra charge with our package. If you have a different package or on another day than your wedding than probably a charge. The patio is great for a cocktail hour.
  4. Trivera the bar higuey is really nice. Its covered for all weather but you don't feel like your inside at all. I didn't ask about a beach dinner cause we didn't want to eat on the sand. But I bet it would be awesome if you wanted to do that. Sunny did you ask for the cocktail hour on the roof, I'm just curious? I am getting married on the pier and I believe we will be the first ones. When I met with Marlene she had never done one there and wanted to once I had told her I really wanted to do a pier ceremony like I had planned at another hotel. As for the cocktail hour we are having ours on the rooftop after the wedding, another thing that was new to her. The rooftop is to gorgeous, I had thought of doing the ceremony there. Trivera I want to hear what you decide for the ceremony. I didn't other guests standing by in their bathing suits as I am having a moment during my vows and the pier gives us privacy. The beach or beach side gazebo you won't have that privacy and will have people spectating. Just look in the background of the youtube video. I just have to say I am so glad that I found you ladies. I no longer feel alone on this process and its all real now.
  5. I am trying to get more options. I want 2 picks rather than everyone eating the same thing. If I say they have allergies they will have something else, but how many people can I lie about. I don't think buffet is an option, its all sit down. Bugging her is kinda my thing. I send an email with 10 questions at once lol. Marlene hadn't told me about a flower catalog. I did find a youtube link of a wedding there. It showed the photos and the basic ceremony. But its helpful. I emailed the couple who posted it, so I'll keep you posted if I hear from them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TiGpQ2tPU5E Sunny your getting married there before me so I will so be asking you about it after. I found some nice Badgley Mischka shoes. Where are you having your ceremony, Beach, catholic? And do you know the deal with the DJ situation?
  6. Hi Ladies, I am getting married at Barcelo Bavaro this June. I went to the location and stayed for a few days and was very happy with everything. Marlene was great and very helpful. We are doing the Tangerine Package and I email her with a million questions. She always gets back to me with all the answer but a little slower, I think that's just Island time and how they work. The menus I believe are all sit down and are pretty limited unless you have a vegetarian or allergy to what the main course is. That is the only real draw back and I am still working on that. The photographers looked good when I looked at their work. I think that's pretty much not an issue, they do it all the time and you can look through books and tell them what kind of pictures you want. The DJ's they use I am not too sure about but bringing a Ipod and music list is a good idea.I am working out those details currently since we are finalizing a lot of details. Your flowers and bouquets, you can send Marlene pictures of things you like and she can confirm if they can be done. Do you girls know any good show sites? I need a shoe that I can wear on the sand and solid ground. Trying to not have issues with shoe changes and the alterations of my dress. Hope I was helpful and thanks for any help.
  7. Hi Ladies, I am actually getting married there this June. I did go and stay at the hotel before we picked our location. Just an FYI if you are going to visit sites, many wedding coordinators only do visits Monday-Friday. We made the mistake of going on a weekend and had some trouble getting past entry gates. Marlene is very helpful, I email her constantly with a million questions. I do agree she takes some time to get back to you, but I think its just because Island time makes people more laid back. She has good ideas and insight on what is possible and would look good. As far as centerpieces and flowers, I would send her photos of what you want to confirm the florist can do them. All the packages to my understanding are sit down and pretty limited on what you can choose. Unless you are a vegetarian or allergic will they amend your menu. The photographers looked good to me when I went through their books. Also keep in mind everyone has cameras with them so you will have more pictures than you can think. The DJ I am still working out, I believe they have a few DJ's they use. But it is a good idea to bring an ipod and a list of what you want in case they flop. That seems to be my biggest concern. On a side note, Do any of you ladies know a good site for wedding shoes? Finding a shoe that works for the beach and solid ground is getting pretty hard. With my dress fittings rapidly approaching I'm concerned.
