  2. Hey ladies! I finished all of my centerpieces, 24 in total [3 per table]. Well worth the time I put into it, they came out better than I could have expected. Best part of all, the total cost for everything needed to make these came out to less than $10 a table!!!! Hope you love them as much as I do!!
  3. Hi Lindsay, welcome to the forum and congratulations!! You will find practically everything you need to know to get started right here on the forum! Most of us I'm sure can agree with you 100% about the prices Lomas charges! I know many of us on here have done DIY projects and decorations to not only save money but add a few "personal" touches to the wedding. Have you been in touch with your WC yet and has she given you a detail sheet? That's the best place to start, also begin to look for a travel agent. If you can find a TA that is a GWIC [gourmet wedding consultant for Karisma] you can get top notch pricing as well as lots of freebies & discounts! Also, if you're thinking of sending save the dates, you should do so ASAP. You want to send the invitations a few months in advance, depending on what the deadline will be to book your group through your TA. You can do a room block- there's a deposit per room but that goes towards your stay and gets you best rates. You want to give your guests plenty of time to decide if they'll be able to come. Next, look at all of the possible ceremony/reception locations and check the availability with your WC. I know MURMEL from this forum posted a link to the official AS forum that has all of the location info, as well as types of ceremonies to choose from. Hopefully you can find it on here somewhere Feel free to ask any questions you have on here, we're glad to help ! Best of luck to you! Happy Planning!! Jen
  4. Hi ladies! Hope you are all doing well! I'm finally getting around to going through the tons of boxes throughout our house and came across some items we won't end up using for the wedding. I'm thinking of doing a "pre-wedding" sale to make some space in our apartment before my shower. I figured I would let you all know here first to give any of my fellow AS brides first dibs =) Here are some items I have left over, if there's interest, I'll post pictures & prices: -Mason jars, various sizes [some are plain, others are with BALL logo & measurements] About 10-12 jars -Submergible LED lights, set of 12 from Michael's craft store [these are VERY bright!] -2 sets of 3 pc. tall square glass vases, with matching ivory floating candles -Random fabric/material left over- ivory woven cotton "rope", cream "gauze" ribbon, white frilly lace, raw burlap roll.
  5. Murmel- I was told by my WC Lynda that no fireworks of any kind [including cold] are allowed on the property. I asked several times, b/c I know they've done it in the past. WC confirmed "although they've allowed cold fireworks in the past, they no longer allow it due to complications they've had". So i would say no to fireworks
  6. Those are beautiful Kristie!! I see we're getting married within a few days of each other =) As for your question about transporting- I'm going to see how they are shipped to me and determine the best way to travel with them. I am going to give the BM their bouquet's to pack and carry with them down to Mexico. Considering how much we have to bring and that our carry-on's will definitely be too full to fit anything else, I think it's best to have them carry it down [hopefully in their carry-on] =)
  7. Hope you all love them as much as I do =) Simply amazing!! XO Jenny
  8. Hello my fabulous BTB & brides! I received final proofs of my flowers from Angel's Accents. For anyone interested in "real touch" flowers, let me say that I'd recommend Angel's work to ANYONE!! She was absolutely amazing with creating what I envisioned and am so thrilled with how my order came out =) I want to share [insert happy squeal here] my bouquet: my BM bouquets: boutennieres: Pomander balls [aisle decor & will sit atop mason jars on reception tables- Angel remembered my idea and did just that when she took this picture so I can see if it would work]
  9. What a great looking suit! I'm curious to hear how it fits- did you order custom sizing or pre-made size? And how long did it take to receive the suit from ordering? I think we decided to order through Studio Suits b/c our suit guy didn't come through [the ONE sample we waited weeks to see was horrible ugh!]. So thanks for sharing the pic & your thoughts on it, this makes our decision much easier =)
  10. Hi Ladies! Hope you're all having a great week!! So less than 2 months to go, and I finally had the time this weekend to get so much done! I'm very excited to share my favorite project yet with you all- My flower girl's tutu. I love tutu's but didn't want a short one that was too much like a ballerina's. Instead I saw a long, flowy one online and tried to recreate it. It looks a bit poofy here, but that's b/c there was TONS of static lol The bow will be the back of the tutu and there are also a few longer pieces of tulle we attached to the back after I took the picture. SO easy to make as well =)
  11. Hi lovely brides & BTB!!! I've been a bit MIA lately, and see we have welcomed some ladies to the forum! MMK- Thanks so much for the advice and kind words Did you order suits from Studio Suits? I had Mike order samples bc we wanted to see the quality whille his suit store waits for his "samples" [which were supposed to come in two weeks ago already! eek] I actually changed the postcards I made in that same post also- I kept the wording but changed the images, the purple & pink were too "baby" colored for me hahah! JESS878 AND TARA STEVE- This may be the most stressful part of all the wedding planning. Our deadline to book rooms was March 15th and there were a TON of last minute bookers- and some that still have yet to book. Sometimes, TA can only see available rooms that are open to them- it doesn't necessarily go for the entire resort's availability. I remember my TA said she sees X amount of rooms left if we wanted to add to our block, but she could ask resort to open more to her. So I'd ask the TA again to check with resort and if they really are almost out of room, ask what the next category up would be available. And don't stress about those last minute & late bookers- I did and i regret it b/c either they booked or didn't, something we can't control unfortunately! But it will work out, just be cautious when it comes time to keep or release your rooms that aren't booked- If you keep them after the deadline and they are not fulfilled, you will be penalized. Hope this helps =) ALYSSA NYC- Thank you so much!! I wanted to do something out of the ordinary, and also something our guests would be able to use there and bring back as a favor =) It was a great idea and the pricing was amazing for the quality! I'd recommend Factory 21 to anyone =) Their prices on Etsy actually seem a bit better than on their actual website weird right? LOL ANyways hope to see your OOT ideas on the forum soon!! btw, what part of NYC are you from? I work in Midtown and live in Queens
  12. How long does the order take to arrive? My FI is stressing me out BIG time, b/c he's relying on his suit guy to show him samples- that have not yet surfaced!! I think he's pushing it now that we're approaching the 2month mark with no suits! Who knew linen suits would be so hard to find, especially when all of the spring collections are already out?! Keep us posted when they arrive, would love to hear how they turned out
  13. Hi ladies! Hope you are all doing great!!! I received my favors/OOT bag goodies from an Etsy Vendor, Factory 21!!! I was SO excited to come across these, as I originally wanted to do shot glasses. I opted out of the shot glasses b/c I was nervous about traveling with lots of glass favors! So I found these heavy duty plastic [bPA free] personalized travel mugs. They have a closure at the top that slides to allow a straw in & keep bugs/sun out! What a beautiful job they did =) The font color is a bit lighter than this, but my phone takes horrible pictures of blues! *I made these up to print and frame for our photo prop & cigar roller tables: Lots more to come in the next week or two! I'm finally getting around to all my DIY projects! XO Jen
  14. I hope they'll allow to have it there! My resort said if I were to bring in something that's not from their resort they wouldn't allow it to be served =( Hopefully they don't give you a problem!! That's great that you were able to find something!
