  1. There is an 11% tax on everything and anything requires "service" there is a 15% service charge on top of it. So the $3000 should turn in to $3330
  2. Thank you so much!! I love my 2 wedding bands! If you can splurge on it, I think it looks great!
  3. Thank you!! I've actually decided to start offering some of the things I made as a PDF file if you are interested in them! Email me at [email protected]
  4. I hate that you had such an issue with the DJ, but I'm kind of relieved I wasn't the only who felt that way about him!! I had the same impression after meeting him for the first time! I felt like such a B and maybe like I was being difficult after writing my review and everyone else raving about him. But it sounds like y'all had an amazing time and your pictures are gorgeous!!!
  5. We ended up swiping our CC at the resort for about $8000. That included the $3000 package, photography package, extra pictures, 3 BM bouquets, 2 corsages, 4 bouts, lighting, DJ, sound system for the ceremony, 2 centerpieces, cake and champagne for 15 extra people, dinner and open bar for 15 extra people. That price didn't include dress, the actual trip, any of the decorations we brought with us (chair sashes, table overlays, maracas). It was strictly what the hotel provided for us. Let me know if you have any questions!
  6. Hey brides!! I am interested in starting some design work for some of the things I made for our wedding and looking for other brides to let me experiment. I can make welcome brochures, the tags like we had on our maracas/bubbakegs, do not disturb door hangers, basic monograms.... I am willing to do it super cheap, I can print, or I can send PDF and you can print, and am willing to work with you until you're happy. Again, I've only done this for my wedding so I need some more practice! The first 2 people that email, I'll even do some for free If you're interested, email me at [email protected] Check out my planning thread if you want pictures of what I made. http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/84658/savanahs-planning-thread-12-17-12-dreams-riviera-cancun

  8. and have SO MUCH FUN!!!!!! You are going to love it and everything is going to be perfect!!! I can't wait to hear all about it when you return!!!
  9. we used a credit card to pay for everything. Are you using resort photographer? If so you can pay with CC... it's included in the bill. but remember that there will be a foreign transaction fee. We found a CC before we left that had no foreign transaction fee so that helped. If everything you are doing is through the hotel, they give you one bill that you pay for all at once before the wedding.
  10. Agree with Rach! Don't worry about what the weather shows! There was rain in the forecast almost every day and the only day it rained was the day of the wedding day (the day it had 0% chance of rain!!) There are sometimes afternoon rainstorms for like 5 minutes and then it will stop. Just remember that if it does rain, they have back up plans! We chose to have everything outside and mother nature does what it wants to do! And everyone at Dreams makes it work if it does rain!
  11. Mine was huge but my moms was normal sized... I ended up having to put mine on the opposite side than I wanted because it was so big. But I still think it looked good and not too big in my hair.
  12. On the way there we did not fly first class. We were actually in the last group to board which made it even worse. On the way home we were in first class and they still wouldn't let me hang it up. BUT i honestly think laying it in the overhead is better than hanging it. The closests are tiny and it would wrinkle on the floor. If it's in the overhead you just lay it out flat. To me, that seems better. Yes, had to go through the scanners. No issues really with that! The lady behind me in Mexico started pushing me out of the way to get her bags and her stuff went on top of my dress, but she got a dirty look and she moved really quick so I could get my dress!! haha! But overall, no issues! And the steaming was great at Dreams.
  13. United wouldn't let me hang my dress up either. The original flight attendant was really rude and basically just told me to find a spot for it in the overhead. Luckily a second flight attendance found a completely open overhead bin and let me lay it down in there and closed it so no one else could put anything in. I would definitely carry it on! And Dreams was great about steaming the dress and husbands suit!
  14. They were cocktail size! I just gave them the napkins to put like at the bar or something and they ended up folding them up and putting them at every place setting! It's the little touches like that that make DRC really exceptional!!
  15. Oh, and don't mail anything to the resort! I was advised to not do that. Especially with it being so close to your wedding! They said it can sit in customs forever!
  16. oh girl, we had SO much stuff we took with us. We had 40 maracas, 30 bubba kegs, all the picture frames and pink lanterns for our tables, chair sashes and table covers, etc etc etc. Between John and I we had 3 50 lb suitcases, my dress, a backpack, a carry on suitcase and a Vera Bradley duffel bag. We also gave stuff my parents to put in their bags too. My only tip is spread it out. Don't put 50 maracas in one suitcase. We mixed everything in between clothes and we didn't get stopped. It was a pain once we got there and needed to unpack (especially since we had stuff in other peoples luggage) but we just had the man bring all of the luggage to our room and got all the wedding stuff out and he came back and picked it up and took it to my parents room. Oh, also buy a luggage scale! We found one cheap on amazon and it was right on with weight. It saved us the extra money of going over the weight limit!
  17. Congrats!! We got married at DRC 12/17. Here is my planning thread: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/84658/savanahs-planning-thread-12-17-12-dreams-riviera-cancun It might help with some things... Let me know if you have any specific questions!
  18. Thanks!!! I'll be sure to share my weddingmix experience once we have the final video back. So far it's been great! There were a few things I would change, but overall, for the price, I'm really happy we did what we did and we have our whole trip on video!
  19. We got an online preview of it. I loved it! I mean it's not perfect quality because it's filmed on cell phones and little kodak cameras, but supposedly it's going to be in HD format once we get our disc. And it was only $400 when a professional would have been a whole lot more and just for a day. It was SO fun see the entire trip on video from getting on the airplane to arriving back in Houston. If you're guests are technologically savy then I would highly recommend it!!
