  1. OH My gosh Kim!!!! That is so crazy! I am so glad that everything turned out ok though in the end. You are married and that's what matters Share some more pictures!
  2. 1. We used Visual Sound. I'm not sure if he is still there so I would contact the resort and they will assign you one and give you the contact info. 2. We used Anel with Adventure Photos. Here is a link to our slideshow: http://171212ryan.dreamsriveriacancun.adventurephotos.com.mx/#/ryan/ 3. We used the videographer included in the ultimate package. Here is a link to our video we uploaded to vimeo: We also used StoryMix Media - Here is a link to our video trailer: 4. We didn't have a cocktail hour and used the cocktail hour credit towards our dinner. We had our guests gather at the beach bar while we were taking pictures and had the mariachi band play there and it worked perfectly! 5. This will all depend on the time of year. Our photographer helped us decide what was best based on the time of year. Our was in December so sunset was early so we got married at 3:30. 6. We didn't have a rehearsal dinner. We had a "welcome party" where we all met in the Hotel Lobby Bar.
  3. Hey ladies! Do y'all remember my wedding video from StoryMix? Well the company is giving away a $300 credit to use on any of their services on my blog! Here is the link to the blog post where you can enter: http://www.savanahsmiles.com/2013/05/calling-all-brides.html It's really easy! Here is the link to our StoryMix Trailer if you want to see it: They have a special destination wedding theme or you can pick one of there others. I was really pleased with StoryMix because we got all 10 days on camera, not just the few hours of the wedding. Our real video is an hour long and we got to pick which footage we wanted. You can see our full hour long video here: It's the very first video on the page - http://www.storymixmedia.com/weddings/gallery.php?k=savanah-john-ryan Hope you all will enter
  4. It depends on if it's booked or not. Sometimes they can do multiple weddings a day so it could be booked on your day - especially in March. When we were there in December there were 3 weddings going on at the same time and there were 2 more earlier in the day. So, it all depends on what other brides there are that day. The south beach is the most private for the ceremony. The gazebo isn't private but honestly, I didn't notice at all. The beach isn't private either, but it's the most private out of the locations. People can still walk down the beach in front of and behind your set up and be in pictures. We had our reception on the pool deck and if you have enough people, I think this is the best option!
  5. Yes, credit cards charge a foreign transaction fee so everyone watch out for this! My husband found a deal on the southwest airlines credit card before we left that charged no foreign transaction fee, we got bonus miles, plus all the miles for spending $8000 on the wedding! We just booked 2 round trip tickets to NYC for september FOR FREE thanks to our wedding and had no foreign transaction fees! I would highly recommend you look for CC's like this before you leave because that fee can be costly!
  6. Also, if you ask the wedding coordinator for a breakdown, she will send you an invoice. Lorena sent me one with no problems and that's your chance to look and see if they have everything you've discussed and make sure there are no discrepancies!
  7. I think there might be some newer people on here since I posted all my links so I'll post again! Sorry if you've already seen it all My husband and I got married on 12/17/12 Here's a link to my planning thread: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/84658/savanahs-planning-thread-12-17-12-dreams-riviera-cancun Here's a link to my review: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/products/dreams-rivera-cancun-resorts-and-spa/reviews/6785 Here's a link to our wedding and TTD slideshow: http://171212ryan.dreamsriveriacancun.adventurephotos.com.mx/#/ryan/ Here's a link to our wedding video from the resort videographer that we uploaded to vimeo: Here's a link to our wedding video trailer that we did through StoryMix: I also have a blog where I posted a BUNCH of wedding stuff - our OOT bags, BM gifts, invites... pretty much everything wedding related is on there. Here's a link to all my wedding related posts. There's also a bunch of pics of the resort (not just wedding) on there as well! http://www.savanahsmiles.com/p/my-love.html If y'all have any questions don't hesitate to ask!
  8. We got married before we left and had a symbolic ceremony - and i think this is what most people do! You don't do the fingerprints, but you still sign a document during your ceremony. It just has both of your names on it and says you got married at Dreams basically! Nothing legal
  9. We had all of our guests meet at the beach bar. That's where we had the mariachi band playing and it worked out perfectly. We took pics on the beach right in front of there so everyone watched us and we got pics with the mariachi band.
  10. Yes! We had our "cocktail hour" at the beach bar. We had the mariachi band play there and we took pictures right in front of there on the beach so everyone watched us take pictures. It really worked out perfectly! I'm glad we didn't spend the extra money on the cocktail hour!
  11. We had 35 people. The dinner/drinks is 48/pp. We had the ultimate package which included it for 20 we just had to pay for 15. We also chose not to do the cocktail hour and used that credit towards our dinner so we ended up not paying very much for the actual dinner. The DJ was $900 for the 3 hours. I don't remember how much the light up dance floor was - I don't have our break down of price anymore. 2 centerpieces were included with the ultimate package so we only had to pay for 3 of those which were about $60 each. We paid $4 per person for the cake for 15 people because 20 were included. And we paid $150 per bamboo pole for the lighting and I think $30 per table for the under table lights. We took everything else with us (table overlays, sashes, picture frames, decorations, etc). For our entire wedding at the resort it was about $8000. That didn't include what we brought with us or our trip there.
  12. We had ours on the pool deck Here's our slideshow if you want to see it! http://171212ryan.dreamsriveriacancun.adventurephotos.com.mx/#/ryan/
  13. I had lights under our tables with the white table cloth and a teal sheer overlay! I LOVED the way it looked!
  14. Every price that is listed does not include any tax or service charge. The $3000 for the unlimited package is not subject to the service charge though, just the tax. The only things that get the service charge are things like food, champagne, cake, (where you need a server). Also keep in mind if you're paying with a CC most companies charge an international fee.
  15. If you have the confirmation letter saying you're in the seaside grill for your reception, the I would also assume that it would be shut down. There's just no way to have a reception in there with other people. They originally told us 40 people was minimum for the buffet but I told Lorena that we didn't like any of the plated dinners and she said she could do minimum of 20 people. We had the Mexican buffet and it was excellent!! We had the mariachi band playing during our "fake" cocktail hour by the beach bar. It was so cool and everyone loved them! It was also nice because we got to take pictures with them too! I loved having the dance floor. I think it totally changes how pictures look and just makes everything look WOW!!! haha
  16. Nope, it's just the $180 Just contact the DJ and ask if he can do it for you. He offered it to me. Are you using visual sound?
  17. are you using the DJ for your reception? If so - he can be your "tech" for the ceremony as well. You just tell him your music before you leave and he'll have it ready for you. If not - the sound system fee comes with a "tech" You can bring your music on a CD or iPod and then give him instructions on when to change it. I would have 3-5 songs for before the ceremony, bridal party song, bride song, sand ceremony song, recessional.
  18. We only had 35 people on the pool deck. I think that the 60 person limit is a new requirement and if you booked before a certain date they are still allowing the pool deck.
  19. the minister does the sand ceremony. It's coordinated in to your ceremony. I'm sure you could have someone else read it if you wanted though. You meet with the minister when you get there to pick everything you want so you could talk to her about that then. We swapped our cocktail hour for extra people at dinner. That's all you can swap for. We took pics right after the ceremony on the beach in front of the beach bar and all of our guests stood around there with the mariachi band playing. It worked perfectly and I'm glad we didn't pay for a cocktail hour after seeing how it turned out. All of our guests enjoyed watching us take pics. Seaside Grill is not very big at all so if you're having your reception there, yes, it would have to be completely shut down. Especially if you want to dance, have music etc. They gave you the option to have it there? I know some people have gotten lucky to not be charged for it, but some people have had to pay. If you're just going to have dinner, then I guess they wouldn't have to close it down, but I wouldn't recommend that in Seaside Grill.... It's not one of the more "dressy" restaurants so I don't think it would be good for a reception unless you had it all to yourself.
  20. I think the only ones that serve breakfast are the buffet and seaside grill. Seaside grill I don't think is big enough to do a brunch unless you paid to shut it down. the buffet is packed at breakfast so I would ask the wedding coordinator about reserving a table if you want to do that. Otherwise you wont all be able to sit together.
