  1. *doesn't start...geez me. lol.
  2. Absolutely. I've been stressing out a lot lately because the resort basically doesn't starting working out details with us until we get there so I feel like I have no idea what's going on! I'm a perfectionist too and not knowing what is going to happen is driving me crazy.
  3. 100 days till I'm married! I can't wait!
  4. I'm going. I went to the one in September too. Although I agree, not a lot of destination wedding stuff. It's fun to look around and I love watching the fashion shows.
  5. Thanks! We are totally planning on doing Christmas cards with them next year too.
  6. Our engagement story starts back at my birthday (April). Andrew bought me tickets to Wicked (the musical). The show was on July 9. Anyway, a few weeks before the show Andrew told me he had entered us in a draw for a backstage tour. The week of the show he called me at lunch time and told me that he had received a call and we had won the draw for our night. On July 9 Andrew told me he had to go into work for a couple hours. It was a Saturday, but he does occasionally go into work for a few hours on the weekend when he’s busy so it wasn’t unusual. I got dressed up while he was out and when he got back we went for dinner at a really nice restaurant then went over the theatre. After the show we went down to the front of the theatre and waited for our tour guide. She came out and led us backstage, gave us a tour, showed us the costumes, explained some of the special effects, answered a few questions. We got to the side of the stage and she asked us if we wanted our pictures taken on stage. Of course we said yes. There was another large group of people on a similar tour already on the stage. We walked past them and went to centre stage. Then our tour guide (the Production Manager) asked us if we had any questions. At this point one of the guys from the large group came out and handed Andrew a rose. He asked me if I would accept his rose (because my favourite show is the Bachelor). I said yes. At this point I knew something was going on but my brain wasn’t thinking fast enough to process everything. Andrew got down on one knee, pulled out the ring and asked me if I would accept that too. His recollection of the moment is me saying “really?†over and over again before I finally realized I hadn’t actually answered yet. I think after about 3 reallys I said yes. Then the other group of people came over and introduced themselves as the cast of Wicked, took pictures with us and signed our program. I was so in shock that I couldn’t even focus on them while they were introducing themselves to us and congratulating us. Andrew and I were so wired after that that we couldn’t get to sleep until about 5:00 a.m. Now, how he pulled this off, I think, is pretty impressive. Andrew told me afterwards that he had purchased my ring at the beginning of June and hid it in the basement. Then he contacted the theatre who put him in touch with the Production Manager of Wicked. He asked her if there was any way that he could propose to me at the show and if there was anything that they could do to make it extra special. They told him to tell me that we had won a backstage tour and that he could propose to me on stage right after the show. The day of the show, while he was supposedly at work he actually went and picked up the rose, delivered it to the theatre and met with the Production Manager to go over what was going to happen. Then he drove to his office and called me from his office phone so that I would have no reason to think he had been anywhere else (not that I would have, but I guess he just wanted to cover all his bases). The rest of the evening went off just as he had planned and I did not suspect a thing. And what’s totally awesome is that we got a ton of pictures of the proposal, including this one (my favourite):
  7. These little guys are my babies. Charlotte is the lighter colored, smaller one. She is about 11 months old now. James is the bigger, darker colored one. He's 9 months. They're my pride and joy
  8. Hi everyone!! I'm relatively new here. I'm getting married May 3, 2012 at the Blau Varadero, Cuba. I've been reading some of the posts about guests book, or not booking...that was pretty much my only reservation in choosing to do a destination wedding (it was my fiance's idea in the first place). I didn't want it to feel like we were eloping. I was also worried about a couple key family members and my 2 best friends not being able to afford it, but we sent out a STD in August and within 2 days 30 people booked, including just about everyone I was concerned about! I agree with Jamie, the people who really want to be there for you will make it happen.
  9. I'm using "Like Magic" by JRDN. I thought it would be perfect for that since the first time I heard it. I love the beat and the lyrics.

  12. Hi Dasha. I'm getting married May 3, 2012 at the Blau Varadero. I haven't heard much from the resort at this point either, but my travel agent told me the wedding coordinator down there would be in touch with me 2-3 months before the wedding to sort out the details. I did get one email back from the resort though. It wasn't very detailed but it helped a little. What kind of info are you looking for from them?
