  1. I too loved the Hourglass idea but thought it was much to expensive the cheapest one I could fine online was over $200. So I found a web page (www.tkyoung.com) that I could get just the glass without the stand. The glass by itself cost 36.90, but shipping and handling cost 16.90 and I received the glass with in 2 weeks. Then I went to Hobby Lobby and bought 2 pre cut beveled circles (for the top and bottom) then I bought a dowel rod that I cut in to 3 parts (these supplies cost me $4). Then I took a few min to mark were to put the holes for the dowel rod, and a few more min in my dads garage with a drill press. A little glue, stain and I made my hour glass for less than $60, which I thought was much cheaper. Then I got the sand from hobby lobby for about $2.
