Jana... Did you hear about the new secrets opening in cancun? It's called secrets the vine. All adults. Supposed to be open in August.
-
I just got back from a ten day beautiful wedding and honeymoon! I will write a review when I get settled in. I will say to all the upcoming dreams brides, don't stress! You will have a beautiful wedding. In the end all that will matter is all the beauty around you. The resort is gorgeous. The rooms although not modern were clean and nice. You can't beat the view at dreams. Best location and beach by far! I had 30 guests they all can't wait to go back!

Jana... Your cake was beautiful!

Congrats Jana! You look beautiful! I'm so excited... I will be in cancun in one month!
-
Congrats Jana! I look forward to see your review and pics!

Awesome thank you! I just reserved himitsu beachThank you so much! I just wanted to say I didn't have any issues with bugs either and I would highly recommend Himitsu beach for your reception; it is smaller and more intimate and it is sheltered from the wind unlike the other beach. At Himitsu your reception will be quite close to the restaurant and just a few steps from the walking path so your grandma won't have to walk far at all. The beach is also close to the pyramid so if your guests are staying in that part of the hotel, they won't have far to go.

Beautiful! Where are you having you're reception?I was getting really worried. I go two pick up my dress 2 weeks from Saturday and my veril finalyy came in. Yikes I was getting so worried!! Yeah ladies I leave for my wedding 2 weeks from Tuesday can not believe. Claudia has been answering all of my emails. When you get closer they respond better. So excited!!

Awesome.... Thanks Leigh! I think I may have my wedding on the beach now. Your pictures were so beautiful,

Channing.. You were a beautiful bride for the ladies that had their receptions on the beach, did any of you have an issue with bugs, Mosquitos? Also is himitsu beach close to a restroom? My grandma who is 90 will be at my wedding. I worry about her walking too far.

Sandy, how do I find out prices for the cakes?Hello  Ladies: For some people  the cake is very important ,some other consider  it  non important ...Claudia  the WC at Dreams was very nice to called me, she had a bride that really want  a  pretty and elegant cake ...we just deliver onw  with Orang flavor and  chocolate filling.
Â
Claudia explained me that the pastry  in the resort is very limited  they dont  have  an specialized  chef  for wedding cakes ...they are focus in dessrts and  all the other things that need for the hotel.
Â
She is super nice  and doesnt charge  vendor  fee or something like that. She trsut  that the cake will be done  , good taste  and deliver  on time.
Â
Check below one of the cakes that we made:

I wired my money. I didn't feel comfortable with my cc info floating around.I got my contract from Cecilia on Wednesday! She didn't specify how to get anything to her, but I figure I'll just print out the contract and credit card authorization, sign them, scan them, and email them to her (along with the copy of my driver's license and credit card). Is that correct?
Thanks,
Abigail

Beautiful! Is she charging you extra for use of the vases? I love the sparkle on the bottom. Where did you find those?
-
Jana, are you bringing all you're center pieces to cancun? My bf is worried that we will bring too much stuff, so I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet.I do have everything except my floating candles for the centerpiece. I am pretty excited.

Is there a charge for the rehearsal? If so, how much?

I could live with the cake you had. I saw a picture of a cake that was under the review forum that was really bad! So I guess I will keep my fingers crossed that I get a decent cake. I know in the end the cake won't really matter. I'm just freaking out now that my day is approaching lolTo be honest - I certainly was not impressed with my cake, but it was good enough for me. I am sure there is the option of having an outside vendor make your cake and bringing to the resort, but you will have to pay an outside vendor fee on top of the cost of the cake. Every bride has different ideas as to what is most important and therefore worth spending extra money on.

Here is a picture of my cake...

What does everyone think about the wedding cakes? I am so disappointed in the selection. Some of the cakes look like I could make them myself! I'm trying to keep an open mind.
-
I saw a picture of a bride a few months back who wore her veil low and it looked really pretty. I think I want to wear one!
-
Is anyone wearing a veil during your ceremony? I know the gazebo is windy, but veils are so pretty!

I was bummed at first about not having the terrace for my reception. Then I started talking to my family and everyone agreed that they all wanted a more private event. I don't want to have to worry about being too loud etc...I am excited to go indoors now.
-
I'm so sorry! They told me the same thing! Claudia said I could have my cocktail hour on the terrace, but not the reception and that i needed to have 70% of my guests in the tower. So last month I emailed her about my cocktail hour being held on the terrace and her reply was that the terrace wasn't available unless I had 100% of my quests booked in the preferred tower! I'm really confused. I hate how they make rules up as they go. At this point I may not even have a cocktail hour? I asked about the spa terrace and her response was that in order for me to have the spa terrace, it had to be after 8pm and it would cost me $200 more! So ballroom it is for me I guess?

I can't say that I really saw the ballroom. I know where they are located and I went into one of the rooms, but it was set up in such a way that I can't give you any idea what it would look like for a wedding.Â
Â
You can tell there is a large room that they can break into segments to make different size rooms. On Monday nights during NFL season, they set up the giant screen on the lagoon beach so people can lay on the lounge chairs and watch MNF. Well, it was really windy on the Monday night I was there, so they set up to watch MNF in just one tiny segment of the ballroom. They set up rows of chairs (with the white covers) pointed toward a projection screen. The room definitely did not feel warm (though it was night) so I would assume they do have AC as well. Hopefully Claudia will get back to you soon with some pictures of weddings in the ballroom.

Â
[/quote Thanks! I think the beach receptions are lovely, but I have two guests that will be 90 when I get married and I worry about them walking on the sand. -
Were you able to see the ballroom while you were there? Since I can't have the terrace I may go ahead with the ballroom. I emailed Claudia and asked if the ballroom has ac? I would think it does, but you never know? Lol I am still waiting for a reply.

So when they say 3 hrs of international open bar, do they set up a bar on location of your reception? Or is someone taking orders and bringing the drinks back to you from the bar?

I think the lady that did my hair and makeup was Alicia. She did a really nice job on my hair. I wasn't happy with my makeup at all. She spent maybe 10mins on my makeup and all the makeup used was old looking in a used makeup bag. I remember thinking sanitation was an issue. I was late getting married because I had to redo my makeup myself. Thank god I did, because the application was super light! It would of been awful in photos. My friend was married a few days before and her makeup turned out nice.
