  1. I am a photographer who held a contract to shoot weddings at a popular Caribbean Resort. A few years ago that resort took over photography & banned outside vendors such as me. I have always stated that I disagree with this policy as it robs a bride of her right of choice on what is arguably "One of the most important days of her life." I have asked the question if legally this does not constitute restraint on trade. It brings to mind the incident where Microsoft bundled Internet explorer with its computers...resulting in an anti-trust case against it which I believe, found Microsoft guilty. Trouble is the same stringent rules do not apply in the places where destination weddings occur and this has been leaving many brides with a bad taste in their mouth, as evidenced by the comments here. However there are a number of creative ways around this challenge and I'm blown away by how brides have embraced these in an enjoyably conspiratorial way! ;)
  2. Hi Nicole, Trust me you'll enjoy WJL. It's the hotel where I got my wedding photography start back in 1991...gosh, seems like just yesterday...where has the time gone! And it still remains one of my favorite resorts on St Lucia. Because it is a long way in from the main road the beach is practically your own, unlike at some other hotels where there can be lots of "beach boys" selling all manner of trinkets! Then there is the main pool down near the beach, and the quiet pool high up on the hillside where you are literally in your own private world. Yeah, I'm a wedding photographer, though I must say that I joined this forum to share info with brides coming to St Lucia rather than to try to sell my services. And it all came about when a bride who is getting married at Sandals contacted me to shoot her wedding & we started discussing the challenges that that presents. She told me that she had seen concerns posted by other brides on this forum and we both thought that it would be a great idea if I joined this & shared some of my wealth of wedding & general knowledge of St Lucia. You see I was the resident photographer at 1 of the Sandals in St Lucia up till they took the service in house. So ask me anything you wish to know about St Lucia and your upcoming trip & I will tell you the real deal on it. And if you want to check out my photography here are a few places to look: http://StLuciaWeddingGuru.com http://StLuciaHoneyMoons.net http://YouTube.com/KirkElliottPhotos or you can call me toll free @ 1.877.499.8476...Oh & here you can see a shot from one of the villas @ WJL http://kirkelliott-stlucia.com/best-of-st-lucia/ It's the picture that says "St Lucia Resorts"
  3. Hi Brides, Glad to know you are considering St Lucia... Have you considered WIndjammer Landing? Although they are traditionally not an all inclusive I think they may offer an all inclusive package. Also if you book one of their 4 bedroom villas I know at one time they came complete with a chef and groceries (and drink...very important!) are about a 15 minute drive away. Hope this info helps.
