Hi Stacy,The beaches at the Grand Palladium are beautiful. But not the fine pure white sand and crystal clear see-to-the-bottom water like you get in Cuba etc. They are a bit rocky and corally in some parts (not so much the beach, just the water). Luckily there are 3 or 4 different beaches at the resort, so you can change your scenery up.
The onyl way I can describe it is to compare it to other beaches I have been to. Grand Palladium's beaches are far better than any I've been to in Puerto Vallarta or Huatulco Mexico, about as good as the beaches I've been to in California, and not nearly as amazing as the beaches I've been to in Australia.

Those that used their own ipod dock for the Blue Lagoon reception, did you have to use a battery powered dock or was there an outlet to plug it in? I read in an old 2008 review that someone couldn't find a plug at the BLue Lagoon to plug their laptop into so they didn't think there would be one for your music system. But I wonder about that, because how would a DJ set up there? They'd probably need an outlet or two I would think??

Regarding the Skyping from the beach ... if anyone is interested - I have started to look into a couple companies in Jamaica that will do a live web broadcast of your wedding for all those back home who can't attend. I don't know pricing yet. I am waiting to hear if my mother in law can come or not, then I will look into it a bit further.

Advil alert! I saw the Advil tubes while I was in line at the check-out today at London Drugs. A 2 pack was on sale for $2.99. (I think it was $2.99 ... there's a slight chance I'm remembering wrong and they could have been $1.99 ... all I remember is that I thought they were a pretty good deal!)

Anyone had any luck actually doing this?

Thank you both for the helpful suggestions. I will definitely look into them!
Much appreciated

They look great! The survival/snack bags look so professional, did you do them on vistaprint?
So what was the grand total cost?

I think I probably know the answer ... but is it at all possible to skype your wedding from the beach at the Grand Palladium? We just received awfule news that my fiance's mother might not be able to come, due to health reasons :'(

Our wedding is in Jamaica on March 26, 2012 at the Grand Palladium Jamaica, on the beach. We booked it back in July and have 38 guests booked now.
Just a couple of weeks ago, we found out that my fiance's mother may not be able to come due to health reasons. Basically our worst nightmare We will not know until Feb or March if she will be able to come. So we are all trying to stay as positive and hopeful as we can. But I would like to consider our options, just so we can be prepared for the worst case scenario.
We thought about Skyping the wedding so that she can "be there" from home. But is it even possible to skype from the beach at the Grand Palladium? (We have never used skype before in our lives, so please forgive my ignorance). You obviously need a good internet connection, right? Which I don't know that the beach will have ...
Any help/suggestions are greatly appreciated!
Thanks

The wedding manager there is new. He gave us the bad news when we got there
You work with a wedding coordinator and above them is the manager.
I never put anything on hold with the spa. But I paid with a credit card at spa
I don't know if you call the resort they could connect you to spa.... Think the extension was 8800

I am getting married at the Grand Palladium Jamaica in March! Do a search for that resort and you will find a few very useful threads that you can subscribe to. It will help you TONS!
If you have 41 guests coming, then the package will include 8 guests. You will need to pay $20 each for the extra 33 people. That is for the ceremony, in order to pay for champagne, extra chairs, etc.

and its been a week and i still havent heard anything.
I am having major problems with my wedding date
which is may 14, 2012 but my travel agent said theres
only 10 rooms left around that time. I haven sent out the formal invites yet.
so i cant ask my guest to pay already.
I think i'm going to have to change my wedding date or my location and it's so annoying because i've sent out STD's.
not really sure what to do. but i really want to work out the details so i can send out my formal invites.

Had a bit of a breakdown when we got there because they double booked the blue lagoon! And told me the spa was booked up that day.
We had 50 guest.
I called....my husband called.... and travel agent months before just to confirm blue lagoon and everyone said we were booked!
They moved reception to Poseidon and got extra girls for hair at spa.
All turned out beautiful but def stressful.

I don't know if this is the right thread to post this but I just wanted to share with you girls! I got my Vistaprint order in the mail today and I am VERY happy with it! I was so skeptical at first. But it's true!! The deals are crazy. I got my 25 brochures for FREE! Just had to pay $10 shipping. And they arrived in my mialbox exactly a week from the day I placed the order. They came folded and I was nervous about the quality but they are GREAT!

Ladies that booked their hair appointments at Renova... Do you have to pay before you can make your appointment?

I looked and looked here in Alberta and could not find them for any cheaper. Luckily, I went down to Phoenix in September and hit the Dollar Tree. I couldn't find the tubes of advil there, but I ended up finding advil packets and am just as happy with them! Each box was $1 and contained 3 packets that contained 2 pills each. And they were actual Advil brand, not generic or anything.
That's also where I found my chapstick with SPF. 2 tubes for $1.00, all dif kinds.

I found them at Dollarama for $2, but I was wondering if anyone found them for cheaper in the states at either Walmart or an American drugstore? I'll be heading across the boarder just before x-mas when I go home to visit my parents, so if I can get them cheaper in the states I will wait, if not I'll just buy them now!
Thanks

Question for brides who had their reception at the Blue Lagoon.......... What time did your reception start at the Blue Lagoon? Like what time were guests allowed to arrive there?
I'm thinking of doing a brochure or some sort of program and I want to specify "Ceremony at 4:00pm, Reception at 6:00pm" or whatever time it should be.

Do a search for "OOT Bags" (Out of Town Bags) and you will find quite a few threads that will help you out. They are the welcome bags that brides give out to all the guests. This is the one I subscribe to, because I'm in Canada - http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/38128/canadian-oot-bag-info-where-to-shop/2320#post_1715109
Personally I am not doing a wedding program. I just made a "welcome brochure" that I will include in my OOT bags. The brochure has info on the resort, on the wedding, on the wedding party (MOH, best man, how couple met, etc), a jamaican-english "dictionary", and a big "thank you" to all the guests for coming so far to be with us.
We are not organizing any trips or excursions, but I am sending out an informative email closer to departure that will outline all the excursions guests can take if they wish, tips about the resort, and information on golf courses, prices, etc.
