  1. Fleetmac! Have a great time, good luck with everything! Can't wait to hear all about it when you return as a MRS!
  2. Congratulations ACW and TOES!!!! You both looked ABSOLUTELY STUNNING and I loved both of your dresses! Thanks for the reviews - after reading some pretty nasty ones on here a few months ago, it was nice to hear you both had such positive experiences! Ashley 490 and I only have 76 sleeps until we leave (we get there the same day, and get married the same day and live about 6 hours away from eachother and met on here! - small world!) Anyways, we're getting beyond excited and after reading your reviews and seeing your pics I absolutely cannot wait for January!!! Congrats again!
  3. acw271011, Thanks. We're Canadian. I have our original copy of my old marriage license and the Divorce Certificate I have is just something I picked up from the court house and paid $20 for it. It's stamped (does that mean it has the red seal?) It's in a "certificate format", says "Province of Manitoba" at the top and then "Certificate of Divorce" just below it...and then what they've done is filled in our names, the date of our marriage etc on the computer, printed it out and the lady signed it above the line that says "deputy of registrar" and then she's stamped/indented it over her signature. I'm not sure if this is what I need or if I need to get extra paperwork. Oh, it also has the date our marriage was "dissolved" etc too. Does this sound like the correct thing to you or should I be checking into it a bit further? Probably wouldn't hurt to check into it further anyways...? Thanks again, Funkybride
  4. Attn: acw271011 I'm also divorced - I have a divorce certificate from the court house that I THINK is sealed (will have to look at it again when I get home) - is that all you had to send in with your birth certificates, ID, credit card payment etc? If you can let me know, I'd really appreciate it! Thanks
  5. Hi duckkeisha, We have no idea what we're doing between the reception and going to the resort disco at 11pm. I was hoping to have some kind of a "dance" but the only options so far Chandlyn has given me are renting out an entire a la carte restaurant for $2500 or having a two hour dance in the disco (before it opens I assume) with a deejay for $700 and then also paying $15/person/hour for "open bar"...I'm waiting to hear back from her as to any other possible options. Where is your reception being held? We were told we could not even have a few first slow dances in the area of our semi-private reception in one of the a la carte restaurants (I've been to a wedding before where the bride and groom had an IPOD and had their few dances and speeches when their meal was over and since it was also semi-private, we were out of the way and not bothering anyone and it was at about 9pm or after by the time the dances started so most other people in the restaurant were leaving anyways). I'm glad I don't seem to be the only one who isn't sure of what to line up for our groups to do in the evening of their wedding day. Probably my biggest vice with this resort - such a huge resort that hosts so many weddings and yet, barely any options.
  6. Hi ladies, We're getting married January 18 at 2pm and our reception is at 6pm...the problem I'm having is that there doesn't seem to be very many options for a "dance" between the supper and the disco opening up at 11pm. (the gazeebo is already booked up that night) So far the only options Chandlyn has given us are: renting one of the a la carte restaurants for $2500 Or renting the disco (before it opens) for $700 including dj but it would also cost us $15/person/hour for "open bar" - and we have just over 30 people coming along so renting the disco would cost us about $2000 for two hours. I also asked her if we could bring an IPOD and have our first dances in our semi -private area of our supper and she declined. Ashley 490 is getting married the same day at 4pm and has offered us to use the gazeebo that she has booked in between her ceremony and her dance - so while they're off doing pics, we could sneak in there and do our first dances - but I'm still waiting to hear back from Chandlyn whether she's ok with that or not. Has anyone else been offered anything somewhat inexpensive to do between their supper and the disco or for their "dance"!? I feel very disappointed with this resort and the lack of options and frustrated with Chandlyn as we're spending a lot of money staying there for two weeks and bringing a large group down there and I feel like I'm not even close to getting "my dream wedding" Has anyone left the resort to go to a restaurant for their wedding supper? (Is there any restaurants close by?) If nothing else, I'm hoping she's ok with Ashley's offer to borrow the gazeebo for half an hour before our reception at 6pm and then between the supper and disco opening up we could just take drinks down to the beach and hang out there or by one of the bars around the resort - with 30+ people, i'm sure where ever we end up, we'll make it our own "party". Any suggestions, advice etc would be really appreciated!!!! Thank you so much!
  7. ***ASHLEY 490!!*** I wrote you a HUGE long PM back and this site won't let me send it because it says I've reached my allotment of 2 messages a day. So, I can either try sending it to you tomorrow or if you send me your email address to chanda_leigh@hotmail.com I'll send it to you thru email
  8. Hey Ashley 490! Nice to "meet" you! We're also getting married on January 18 - but at 2pm! I have emailed Chandlyn about the gazeebo for between our reception (which is at 6pm) and the disco club that I believe opens at 11pm...I haven't heard back from her tho yet...SORRY!!!! Were you wanting it too? :S If you've already talked to her about it tho, I'd assume you get first dibs etc. How neat to be able to talk to you on here and both be getting married the same day at the same place just hours apart! Small world! I'd love to talk more with you if you want to private message?! Let me know!
  9. Hi ladies! I'm new to this site and have been skimming over some of your posts...We're getting married in January at GBP and obviously, VERY excited!! I have my date and time booked and Chandlyn said our reception is booked although we have no idea at what restaurant or any details on that. We're bringing our own photographer down and doing our own (fake) flowers and bringing them down too. We've also asked my fiance's older brother to become ordained and marry us down there - he has been in touch with Chandlyn and all she said was that was fine and that the resort "minister" would "work with him"...not sure what that means...I'm sure it will be great once we get down there and everything will be taken care of but it's driving me nuts not knowing all of the details! lol Any tips or advice etc would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks in advance!
