  1. Wilma is beyond amazing! Had her for my wedding. She is very organized and knows her stuff. She also responds to emails in a very timely fashion. Miami is no help at all! When asked if I could change specific wedding items that were part of the package I was told No. Everything with them was NO. Only to arrive and have Wilma say YES to all my requests!
  2. Yeah, that seems a bit odd as I had to actually tell them how many rooms I wanted to block which was hard because it was a year out. Then I had a deadline where the actual people going had to have deposits in. I had to have a certain percentage of the total room deposited. Then I could still keep the rooms not spoken for. Next was releasing the extra rooms and I want to say a month or two prior to the wedding full deposits had to be paid. If it werent for my travel agent doing all this for me it could have been a nightmare. Lot's of dates to watch and keep track of. Playacar Palace was an AMAZING place to have a wedding! Everything really does come together pretty easily! Let me know if there are any other questions you have!
  3. Hello Ladies, I got married last November. When I booked my wedding through my travel agent I had to block rooms for the people coming to the wedding. Once it got closer I had to put deposits down to hold rooms for people who thought they were going, then there was a date for final payments, also a day to release rooms that werent used. November seems to be a popular time so I would definately make sure you have rooms blocked. I've seen many people on the FB members page say they cant get rooms. Thanks, Shannon
  4. For "Thank You's" we did customized sand pails. It had our names, wedding date and sunshine and palm trees. We then filled them with customized trinkets they would use during their stay. Sunscreens, chapstick, mini suitcases filled with treats. Then a personalized Thank You card that also listed our private function times and dates.
  5. We purchased the Diamond collection and used the resort credits. We only used the resort photographer because it was included in that package. I used Blue Lense Caribe from outside of the resort. I just had to pay the day pass for them. I would NOT reccomend the hotel photographer. I was glad I brought somebody from outside. If you go with the hotel photographer chances are you wont be happy. They came nothing close to the photographer's we brought in. Welcome cocktails at the Ceilo Bar will be great. We got unlimited private functions as well. We had a rehearsal dinner at the South Solarium, Wedding Reception at the North Solarium, and a Farewell Brunch in the ballroom. DO NOT think you cant do something. Dont listen to a word the Miami office says. It will be completly opposite when you get to the resort. Our coordinator was Wilma. She was fantastic. She also responds to emails very quickly. She is so sweet! Anything in question I would send her an email and ask. [email protected] Fireworks, we did what the Diamond Package included which is really more like sparklers. We saw a wedding happen and they had the fireworks. It was daylight, couldnt see them really good. Maybe something to end the night? I dont know if that's an option, but I probably wouldnt reccomend it. Any other questions just ask away! ou can also contact me at [email protected]. We married 11-12-11 at Playacar.
  6. Wilma is awesome! For hair I didnt use the resort. I didnt want to move offsite on that day. Didnt want to get sweaty. Also, the airconditioner in the rooms can go even lower if you have maintnance come in and adjust it. For hair I brought in Doranna. She was on time, quick, very friendly and you dont have to purchase a day pass for her since she's only coming up to the room, doing hair and leaving within a couple hours.
  7. Ziki, [email protected] If you have the choice of the North Solarium that would be good. It's more private which is a plus. We had a dinner rehearsal at the South Solarium and because they at times have buffet there people were walking up to our private buffet dinner looking and things and were about to help themselves until staff took them away. Just a thought!
  8. We used Olympus Tours for our transfers. It's actually who we use every time we go to Mexico. We did private transfers because we had some much wedding stuff, but the guests did group transfers. I was to say they ran about $75 per person RT.
  9. I used the hotel only because it was part of the package and if we paid for it why not, but I knew I wouldnt be happy with that. I had Blue Lense Caribe come in and do my wedding. They were AMAZING. I would 100% recomend them. We were with them for 12 hours and they were very fun to be around! Our pictures were great. We got the pictures back from the hotel photographer and they didnt even come close. If I had only went with them we would have been sadly dissapointed.
  10. Lola2012: Do you have an email address. I can send some pics I have and maybe some useful information to help you out. I've done all my bookings through a travel agent. She's dealt with everything from asking my questions, finding the answers, coordinating the group booking, getting some extra stuff put in the contract. She's been a bonus plus she organizes everything’s and makes sure the deadlines are met. I don’t know how I would have done it not going through her. If you'd like her name is Cynthia and her email is [email protected] I am getting married on the beach at 4pm. Cocktail Hour (Ceilo Bar) from 5pm-6pm. Dinner/Reception (North Solarium) from 6pm-1030pm. I am bringing in my own DJ. At first I thought 1030pm was early, but the more I thought about it the better I liked it. Leading up to the ceremony is going to make a long day for all our guests. So, the way I see it, ending at 1030pm allows the guests to turn in for the night, or move on to one of the hotel bars, but atleast at that point they have the choice. I think it’ll work out just fine. Yes, I am getting excited! One week until we’re in Mexico and less than a month until our wedding!

  16. I am having my ceremony at 4pm, cocktail hour from 5-6, dinner/reception 6pm-1030pm. At first I was worried about the reception being cut-off at 1030pm, but then you start thinking about everything. It's going to be a long day for everyone leading up to the ceremony. So, really 1030pm isnt bad from wrapping up the ceremony. Plus it's an all inclusive resort. It's not like the party has to end. It gives those that want to turn in the option to leave and those that want to continue can go to one of the hotel bars. The only little bummer is then the DJ is done, but I'm not worried. Send me your email address. I can send you some info I have that might help. Including some pictures. I do have a question for someone who has had a reception at the hotel. At what point during the wedding day were you able to decorate for the reception? Did you do it yourself or did the coordinator do it? Yes, 7 nights booked= 7 room nights. There are different room night levels that offer certain free functions. With the peolpe attending my wedding I maxed out the 75 room nights and ended up somewhere over a hundred. So, my rehearsal dinner, reception dinner, and farwell brunch are free. I think you get two hours of cocktail time as well to put in somewhere. I would think you have to go through the hotel or travel agent to build these up. I've done all my stuff via travel agent. She talks to the Palace resort wedding contact, gets my questions answered, books all my people. Very organized. I suggest going through a travel agent to do this. I dont think it would have turned out as well if I hadnt? I am using her now so she has everything fresh in her memory. Her name is Cynthia and her email is [email protected] Less than a week and I'll be in Mexico, less than a month and we'll be getting married!!!
  17. If anybody need pics or specific questions about the resort let me know. I can try to help once I am on site. I'll be onsite on October 30th-November 22nd, with my wedding on November 12th. So, let me know what I can do to help
  18. I've asked Mercedes so we'll see what she comes back with Only 55 days to go!!
  19. Does anybody know if they have rectangular tables to use for the reception or is round the only option?
  20. Perry 1217: I dont know who you have for your photographer, but I've picked one that is able to edit out those "random" sunbathers You may ask if they have that option. Shannon
  21. Hi Tanya, Thanks for posting the pictures! After the ceremony did you take more wedding pictures? What did you do with the guests? Did you do a cocktail hour/hourdorves before dinner? Were round tables of 10 your only option of tables? Or did they have square tables to choose from? For the table runners on the round tables, what length did you order? I see you had a serperate table for your guest signature book. Is that at the North Solarium? I appreciate you always checking and answering questions from everyone! I'm a bit surprised the resort isnt a little more detailed on their website with some of this wedding stuff! Thanks, Shannon
  22. Tanya, Do you have any photo's of the North Solarium? Or any pictures of the wedding reception locations? The one's I find on the internet dont seem to show the whole location. Thanks, Shannon
  23. Does anybody have pictures they can share of reception locations. I've been trying to get some from the hotel for a couple weeks now. It's just been a slow process. So, if somebody could share I would appreciate it! [email protected] I'm just wondering how they run 6 weddings in one day? Does not everyone have a reception?
