  1. Oh! Beautiful dress!! I ordered my dress from bigdaydress and it also has some similar ruffles..my dress had ruffles on the side and back... I can recommened them from my own experience... i would suggest just to email all the dress makers you want to hire and ask them for photos of dresses that they have done that are similar... also make sure they use the same material like the one you tried on (if you know what material was used). Good luck!
  2. Hi Daizyduke, i bought my dress from bigdaydress.com. If you scroll back a few pages, you should see my dress. I'm totally happy with my dress. I suggest asking them if they created your dress before or a similar dress for another client... if they did, then at least you can see how close your dress will look to the original. Good luck!
  3. Hello ladies… so I’m finally home and tried on my dress…and I have to say: I loooooooooove my dress!! As you might remember, I ordered my replica dress from bigdaydress. They used the same satin material like the original dress I tried on in the store… totally loving it! It’s maybe 1 size too big though, but that’s easy to fix – better than not fitting in the dress at all, right? My FI measured me that day, so the sizing could also be our mistake. So here are the steps of my process – and hopefully it will help some other ladies on the board with their decision and dress hunt: 1. I tried on the original dress in the store. Therefore, I knew how it would look and fit on my body and how the material felt like, etc… 2. I did check out discount websites like recycle bride, etc…but what are the chances of having them sell the same dress in the same color in my size, right? I also checked out “cheaper†bridal stores like David’s Bridal or Alfred Angelo, but didn’t like any of their dresses and didn’t want to just settle for a dress. 3. since my wedding is not til May 2012, I had plenty of time to check out vendors…and even if this dress was messed up, I still have plenty of time to order another one… I contacted like 5-6 dress makers that were recommened on this thread, e.g. giannar bridal, jasmine bridal (they were more expensive), jeff liu (he quoted me $400), monica’s bridal (slow response, even though cheap), babyonline (fast response, but hasn’t created a similar dress for other customers before), etc 4. since I wanted some changes to my dress (no shoulder strap, add beadings), I actually inserted my dress pic from the store to a word document, then draw lines of where the beading should be, I added comments to it, etc… you have to keep in mind, that these dress makers are from China and english are not their first language… and since they can’t read my mind – I figured, I’ll put a lot of details in my instructions as possible and visuals are more helpful than words alone. 5. I sent them pic of the beading that I would like on the dress. 6. I requested approval pics BEFORE they send out my dress. Why did I choose Bigdaydress? Because I read on other wedding forums (The Knot, wedding bee) great reviews about them. I also asked all the dress makers for pictures of similar dresses that they have created for other customers and bigdaydress sent me several pictures from different clients. And as a customer, I really like it, when they respond to me quickly as bigdaydress did. It made me feel confident and even after I paid for the dress, their customer service response was still fast. I ordered the dress in Mid July, received my approval pics a month later and once I gave them my OK, they shipped it out right away. So it took about 1.5 months to get my dress (of course, I also ordered it during a month, where there are no big holidays in China – so not a busy season). Now that I’ve tried on the dress, I don’t feel like it’s cheap at all…I don’t think, anyone can tell if my dress was made in China or if I bought it here. And even though I only paid $369 (original dress was $1400)!! I don’t think, you can get a dress like that for less than $400 at David’s Bridal, do you? I also have to thank the ladies on the board here… without these reviews, I probably would have never even thought about getting a replica dress… i was too nervous ordering a replica dress – but after reading all these great reviews from other brides, I figured, I’ll give it a try. And now, I’m presenting you my dress… what do you think? Hope you like it as much as I do… Original dress: some wrinkles on the dress because of shipping, but totally loving it otherwise:
  4. Thanks Agus! I cant wait to see and try on the dress when I get home next week. I'll post pics then for the ladies to see ...
  5. Ok...my FI just text me that a package from China arrived... that means my dress is here! Yaaaaaaaay!! I cant believe it's already here...it arrived in less than a week!! I'm soooo excited... unfortunately, I'm out of town right now, so i wont be able to open it til next week... uuuuugh... i want to try it on so badly! I want to see it... but: I told my FI to stay away from the package... hahaa...
  6. Thanks! I looooooooooooove the dress! I'm just happy they did the dress with the beading just how i wanted it. I'll post pics once i get them...now i'm just keeping my fingers crossed that it fits.
  7. Hahaa, sure erinmc! Go for it. If you want to wait 2 weeks or so, i'll post the pic of the dress when it comes in. I dont want to refer them yet - til i get the dress. But so far: I'm definitely happy, i picked them. They seem to be very professional, always respond the next day (because of time difference) - even after I paid and submitted the order. The original dress is $339 (incl. shipping), but since i wanted to add the beadings, they had to add $30 more... so i paid $369 in total. That's about $100 more than i what i got quoted from giannarbridal or monicas bridal, but i chose bigdaydress, coz they were able to send me other similar dresses that they have created for other customers before. Made me confident to order with them. Rather paid extra and have it done right the first time.
  8. Ok, i heared back from their sales rep Nicole (same lady i've been dealing with since the beginning) right away and she reassured me that the dress does not have this bump on the right side of the bust like it looks in that previous pic. According to her, they used a clip in the back to hold up the dress on the mannequin - but since my bust is bigger than their mannequin, the material looks loose in that pic. She sent me a close up of that side of the bust and it looks fine to me now. So I'm even more excited to get the dress now!! I guess, i get it in two weeks or so - since it's getting shipped from China. If the dress doesnt have any issues - once i get it - and it fits me, then I'm a happy - veryyyyyyyyy happy - camper! I'll keep you ladies posted.
  9. So... i received my approval pics from bigdaydress in only 1 month + 4 days after i submitted the order. I've tried the original dress on back in June and fell in love with it, but didnt want to spend the $1400 for the original dress...after doing some research, i decided to go with bigdaydress and ordered it in July. And I have to admit: I looooooooooove the dress!! I wanted some changes to the original dress (no shoulder strap, add beadings to bodice) and they did it exactly how i wanted it. I love it! However, in one of the pics, it seems like the right part of the bodice is uneven. I dont know, if it's because they didnt tie it in the back correctly in that pic or if it's really uneven like it looks like... I've emailed them about it... let's see what they say... what do you think? Here is the original dress from Demetrios: This is the pic that makes me a bit worried... the right upper part of the bodice looks off. I dont notice it in the other pics though - is it because they tied it incorrectly or weird angle or something??
  10. My FI saw the dress, he went to 2 stores with me... I didnt purchase that dress that day though... and even though it was only a month ago, he doesnt remember how my dress looked like... hahaa... i ordered the dress online and making some changes to the original dress - so technically, he hasnt seen it yet...
  11. erinmc: I ended up ordering it from bigdaydress. I actually emailed them both and asked them if they had made a similar dress to the one i wanted for other customers before. Monica bridal didnt respond. Babyonline said, they have not - but they can replicate it for me. Bigdaydress's customer service forwarded me 4 other dresses that had similar ruffles that i wanted, so i went with them. They were about $100 more than the sellers from dhgate, but i figured, they had the experience and i rather pay the extra $100 and have the dress done right the first time. Giannar bridal didnt respond til 2 weeks later - after i already put my order in for Bigdaydress. Another store, i contacted was Jeff Liu after i read some recommendations on here... he wanted to charge me $400 even though, he wasn't able to forward me any pics of any dresses similar to the one i wanted... I'm supposed to get my approval pics from bigdaydress this week... I'm so excited but also very nervous... i'll post them, once i get them
  12. @Lindy S: i had the same issue with Monica's Bridal too. They would only give me 2 words-answers to all my questions. It also took them days to answer them. So i decided to go with someone else: Bigdaydress. Their customer service are outstanding. Their rep, Nicole, gets back to me within 24 hours. Their english is definitely better. I'm supposed to get my pictures of the dress by August 15th. I'll post pictures of my dress then. So excited!!!
  13. Hello, first off: i love this thread! I've been reading this thread from the first post til this page 331. Took me two days, but I did it. I'm also thinking about getting a replica dress. I've tried on this Demetrios dress and totally loved it (I've tried about 15 dresses so far). Unfortunately, the Demetrios dress is $1400!! I cant afford that - since we're paying for our own wedding. So after reading this thread, i've decided to contact some of your recommendations for replicas. 1. Giannar bridal: very slow response, but dress quote was only $180 2. Babyonline via dhgate: fast response, dress quote: $230 3. wywedding via dhgate: very slow response, quote: $160 4. bigdaydress.com: fast response, quote: $331 now I'm just torn, since i dont know, whom i should contact. I do like the fast response and customer service at babyonline and bigdaydress. I read great reviews from bigdaydress on other forums. However, they are a big pricier for the dress. My second choice would have been giannar, but they respond so slow - I'm not sure if that will be improved, once i pay my deposit or not... who you would you recommened from your experience?? This is the dress i want, but i also wanted some beadings on top of the bust of the dress and two beaded lines going across the dress...similar to a pic someone posted earlier on the thread.
