  1. Hi everyone! Just over 70 days to go for....starting to have to get down to the nitty gritty of the planning. So I will be asking you all for your help more regularly. Has anyone else had trouble reaching Eugenia lately? She has generally been great about getting back to me (at the latest, in a week), but I have not heard from her in almost 20 days! Also, speaking of excursions, does your booking for the excursion typically include transportation? Thank you all for your responses. It is so helpful to read these message boards. It provides a huge amount of relief to know that there are others experiencing the same things that you are. Angie
  2. Hi everyone, It's really neat to see that there are other Indian brides trying to plan DWs out there! I'm an Indian and a Hindu and my fiance is a non-practising Spanish-French Catholic. My fiance and I are getting married in June 2012 in the Gran Bahia Akumal resort. Originally we had planned on having the hindu fire ceremony and a western reception, but it seems like it could get real tricky in terms of having to fly a pundit down, etc. So we scrapped the plan and have now decided to have a non-denominational ceremony and an Indian reception. To make up for it we hope to go to India later in the year and do a very intimate hindu wedding ceremony there. For the wedding in Mexico we are going to try and incorporate eastern influences where ever possible. It does get tricky in Mexico because it seems like in terms of cuisine and all we are fairly restricted when it comes to Indian food. I am going to try and do some research to see if perhaps I can incorporate Indian desserts into the reception if that is all I can end up doing. We plan to wear Indian attire for our reception and will play Indian music/ incorportate some Indian choreography in our "first dance" haha. It's tough to try and plan it all, but I think we it's a fun challenge because we really have to be creative. I think I have also decided to have my henna party in Canada the night before we leave so that I don't have to stress to find someone for Mexico or try and fly someone down. We might do the Pithi ceremony in Mexico however, just so we can have an Indian celebration of some sort before the wedding and it seems like it could be do-able. I would love to hear what other Indian brides are planning for their DWs. I'm so glad I found this thread Angie
  3. Wow! This is very extensive. Thank you very much for taking the time to do this. It is nice to have one place to refer to for all elements of the weddings at these resorts .
