  1. Can anyone tell me what table sizes are at Gran Tortuga? I would like to also have table seating arrangements, but I don't know how many there are at a table. We are up to about 35 people coming down for the wedding now...
  2. Thanks for all the info - just wanted to clarify one point... My WC and TA haven't said anything about needing my birth certificate translated... are you sure that is a requirement still for Canadian brides? ALso.... I get married in exactly 3 months today! --- December 8, 2011!!!!
  3. Hi, Could I also have the flower prices? Maria sent me the different flowers, but there were no prices. [email protected] Anyone have any advice on little touches for the reception/dinner? I have bought some seashells to decorate the tables with, but am trying to think of some little things to personalize everything... Any suggestions would be awesome! We get married in JUST over 3 months now. I can't believe how soon it is! I just went under the 100 day mark! We have everything planned out I think except the flowers and cake. Does anyone know if we can have them put together some tables for us at the buffet for our first morning there? I would like to have a welcome breakfast of sorts so all my guests can meet each other. I like the idea of a rehersal dinner the night before - I will definitely message Maria about that. ALSO, for all of you who are stressed over not hearing from your wedding coordinator, when I first booked, it took a while to hear back from Maria, and I was stressing - sometimes it was a week or longer. Now that the wedding is only a few months away, she emails me back within 24 - 48 hours. I think as wedding dates get closer they focus more on you, so if you have a year or so till your wedding, it may be a while before you hear back from them!
  4. Hello ladies! So I wanted some advice, below is what I have booked and had confirmed so far... Can someone tell me if I am missing something that needs booking? And also some advice on things I can do to customize my day a bit. Wedding: December 8, 2011 Location: Palapas Beach Dinner: Brazillian Restaurant Reception: pool side with Special cocktails and DJ I feel like there is something I am missing... I know I need to pick flowers, how far in advance do I need to do that? Does anyone have the options for the flowers? FINALLY... I'm having trouble with colour choice for bridesmaid dresses.. I have a 2 coloured dress picked out, dress colour, then a material belt. I want to make sure the colours look good on the beach. If anyone has time.... it is alfred angelo 7017S - any colour combination suggestions?? You guys rock!
  5. Thanks so much for the info - I think we will go with the brazillian...and finding out we don't HAVE to book the $17 a head cocktail party is a huge relief! What photo package did you end up getting?? I can't believe how quickly time is going by - 5.5 months to go!
  6. Hey everyone - I have a couple more questions! Less than 6 months to go, and I am starting to hear more from Maria - I received confirmation today that I can have a pool side reception at the Pool Bar. Is this a nice location? What does the reception include? I am assuming tables...etc? I would like to bring along some floating candles to place in the pool, has anyone else done this, or know if this would be allowed? For the bar at the reception, I have received the following prices....what would people suggest? Special cocktail (sparkling wine, beer, margaritas, pina colada) $5/person - $3/person additional hour National Bar (beer, rum vodka, cocktails, gin) $17/person - $12/person additional hour They also gave us the option of international bar, but I don't think that's necessary. Do you think Special cocktail would be enough? Also for the reception, I would like a DJ, and figured I would just go with the DJ at the resort. Is he any good? For people who have had receptions, how long do you usually have them for? My final question (for now) - we are booked at Tulum, and received our restaurant choices... which are either mexican or brazilian, neither of which really appeal to us for our wedding dinner.. Do you know if they allow you to pick one of the restaurants from Coba or Akumal instead? I am sure I will have more questions, as things come up, but peoples opinions on this would be great!! Thanks!
  7. Hi everyone... I am booked at the Bahia Principe Tulum for December 8th, 2011. I am super excited, and want to make sure everything goes well! I have 25 guests coming from all across Canada. I have a few questions. I received an email from Maria, but there was a mix up and they had me booked at Coba. My travel agent spoke with Paloma, and she guaranteed me that I am booked properly. I have asked Maria to forward me the Tulum restaurant choices, but she doesn't seem very quick in responding. Can anyone forward me those menues, so I can make a choice and send it to her? Also, how soon in advance to I need to let them know I want a reception? I am thinking we want a 2 hour reception after the dinner. MY thought was poolside, and I was going to see if I brought some floating candles and holders, if they can be placed in the water. Has anyone heard of this before, or know if this would be possible? We also will need a DJ i think for the reception. Also, I need to book a hair appointment for myself and my bridesmaids. How far in advance can I do this? Thanks for your help, I am just getting started, and feel slightly lost! I want it to be perfect!!
  8. Hello, I just signed up on this site, and it seems like there is tons of information! I am getting married in December at the Bahia Principe Tulum in the Mayan Riviere. We have the wedding day confirmed for December 8th at 2pm on the beach. Could anyone help me figure out a good schedule of events for the day? I am wanting to have a dinner and then a small reception after the dinner where we can do all the customary things like first dance, father daughter dance.. etc I feel like there will be a big gap between the ceremony and dinner, and am trying to figure out how it should be filled. Any advice anyone has would be extremely helpful, I am feeling a little overwhelmed! Also, does anyone have any advice on the resort photographer? Thanks very much Megan from Canada
  9. Hi, I just booked me wedding at the Gran Bahia Principe Tulum, and I have some questions, and am looking for some advice. We are getting married December 8th, 2011 (date has been confirmed with the wedding planner). The wedding is set for the palapas beach location for 2pm. I was hoping for some advice on how the rest of the afternoon should go after the ceremony. I want to have a reception for a few hours, but not till a bit later in the evening. I am assuming the wedding with take half an hour, then probably photos for an hour.... We are getting the unforgettable package, which I think includes a dinner... and then I would like a reception after that. How would you fill the time between the photos and the dinner/reception? Any other advice would be extremely appreciated!!!
