  1. daizyduke, mine came a bit big but that was intentional. I added an inch to all my width measurements because the website stated that with custom design, the exact measurement sent could vary by up to an inch either way in the final product. I would much rather it be up to too inches too big than an inch too small!
  2. Wow! How lucky that you didn't buy from the original store! I bought the dress super early just in case it turned out terrible and I'd have to order the original after all. So my wedding is still a long way off, but I just want to get it altered now! Haha, I'm so impatient. I can at least take it into a store to see how much it would run me to have the various things done that I'd like done. hilly1gh, babyonline must be a big fan of trains!
  3. Alright, my dress arrived from babyonline. Here it is! I am so happy with it! It does need some alterations though: Its a little too big. I'm holding it snug in the back to keep a shape. The pleats are not very secure I think I'd like to see if a seamstress could remove the thick as hell lining in the bodice and replace it with a lighter fabric--not sure how much that would run me. I'd like the bra cups removed. They're oddly close together and I'm not a fan in general. It needs hemmed It has a hella long train. I wanted a sweep train, but this thing is at least a foot if not more. Crazy long So yeah, it needs some alterations. I was always prepared to spend a bit there though since the dress is a steal. I'd also like to add some color too it. But I am soooo psyched! It turned out really well; I'd buy again! Will post more photos after alterations.
  4. I asked them to check the final measurements, and I got kind of a run around of them saying that they promise that its the right size, it just looks big/boxy because they are holding it up rather than putting it on a model. No numbers, though. Hmm.... I think she wanted it off her hands and wanted to get paid from DHGate, so I'm not sure how truthful she was being re: sizing. I just went ahead and shipped it though because honestly, if anything is wrong with it, its the size rather than the quality and the size I can fix here. Seeing your dress actually made me feel better--maybe it is the way they are holding it! It looks fantastic, the bodice detail is awesome.
  5. Hi all! I finally ordered my dress after months of debating and its done! I don't have it yet, but was sent pictures today. Its not perfect, but the quality looks really good and I'm pleased overall. Here is the inspiration dress: (I've honestly always thought that these photos looked hideous, but the dress does look really great on, i swear!) Here are the photos I got today from babyonline: Ok, sorry for the big photos! Overall, I'm pleased. The skirt was my big worry and it looks great. The fabric looks good. The dress looks too big, but I did add an inch to all my width measurements for fear of it ending up to small. But the torso is really boxy looking and there is no waist that I can see! Also that flower is giant and a little too centered rather than on the hip. So what do you think? Should I try to have them fix it by asking them to measure the waist and take it in accordingly? or..something...? Or should I just get it shipped now and have it altered here? I really like it, and I knew I'd have to change something about it, so I'm happy with it so far.
  6. Hey all, I finally ordered the knockoff dress. I ordered from babyonline and haven't gotten the dress yet, but got photos today! Please let me know what you think!! This is the inspiration dress: (to be quite honest, I always thought that photos of this dress were hideous, but it looks great on, i swear!) And here is the knockoff: Overall, I'm pretty happy with the dress. The material looks great and the skirt looks good, which I was really nervous about. The dress looks big for me, and the waist isn't very defined at all, but I did add an inch to all of my width measurements for fear of it being too small! Also, the drop waist looks like it drops a bit further off the hip and may hug my butt more than I wanted. And that flower is humongeous. I don't know if these are things that I should ask them to fix before they ship it or if i should just try it on and get it altered here. Thoughts?
  7. Thanks, mochamakes3! They look promising. The finished product photos that they have a few of look really good. And so inexpensive! For good quality materials, I am willing to pay a bit more but I may not have to with this seller.
  8. I think I might have seen the dress you're referring to. But that one had a few fabric flowers attached to the skirt whereas with these styles, the skirt is just made up of the fabric floral detail, no separating the two. Bit trickier to pull off. Whats Babyonline's website/contact info? I couldn't find them through ebay or a google search. Thanks.
  9. Hello All! I'm new to the forum...I'm likely not having a destination wedding (though I wish!) but this thread is best I have ever found regarding knock-off gowns. Thanks ladies! I have a couple concerns. I have tried on similar styles to gowns I love in stores and I really love the fabric and how it fits. I am wondering if the fabric will be anywhere near the same. I'm not big on satin or any other shiny materials. I like the matte taffetas, organzas, and chiffon type fabrics. I also go towards a more atypical dress design. I stay away from any lace and beading, but the dresses I love have A LOT of detail in the fabric. I'd love to get a dress like these made: apologies for the giant pictures. Does anyone have experience having a dress with a ton of fabric detail like these made? How did it turn out? Thanks!!
