  1. You should also re-consider Air-Canada simply because of the issues they're having lately. Granted there's no guarantee they'll still be having them by the time your wedding comes around..but there's also no guarantee they won't either. And I personally wouldn't chance my entire wedding group being late or worse cancelled because my pilot decided to call in sick or go on strike. Totally your choice tho - just something to think about
  2. Fantastical! Great job!!! Loved the pics! I'm linking your page to all my guests!!!
  3. Well if you haven't decided which resort you're staying at for your wedding that would be your 1st priority. Either Coba..Akumal or Tulum. The Hammocks beach location at Akumal is popular..as is the Gazebo at Tulum. You'll prob want to scope out the restaurants that will be a possibility for your dinner/reception. Some of us are opting for the entire reception poolside. You'll want to check out the pools for that reason also. Maybe have a look around the resorts for great photo locations too. Possibly try and meet with one of the Wedding Co-ordinators too. I believe its Eugenia at Akuma..and Jazmin at Tulum. They're pretty busy but if you maybe email them before you head down they can make some time for you and show you around when you're there. My parents did this in November. It was great..they were able to take pics of all the site locations for me to see. Sometimes the details you overlook can be a bigger deal down the road. For ex: The palapas around the diamond club pool were few and far between...when I discovered this I moved my reception to the main pool so there's better lighting and room for decorations. Just my 2 cents! - Have fun!
  4. Did you check out Romantic Planet? We went to the AMA seminars also and enjoyed their service/presentation but they really push Air Canada Vacations which we personal can't stand...(Air Canada has made way too many mistakes in my books for me to trust my booking with them) Romantic Planet is geared 100% towards group bookings for weddings. Thats ALL they do...and so far we've had great service! May want to get some quotes from both 1st before you book - thats what I did... I was contemplating Tier 1 travel but when it came down to price...RPV's came through for me
  5. Congrats!! Not going to lie...I kind of thought you had to have all your flowers ordered by now...like long before now. Your WC should have sent you a catalogue brochure of choices.. Maybe they do things different at Akumal. I hope its not too late for you to order not sure about the wording for your ceremony - I'm struggling with that also
  6. Tlseege is correct....the vendor fee is for other outside vendors like Hair/Makeup, DJs...etc Photographers do not apply to the $90 fee. I was looking into the same thing..hiring a photographer from PDC but my travel agent stopped me in my tracks. If you're stuck in a contract with your photographer the only way around it is if you book him/her into the resort for 3 nights. Thats the only way unfortunately. If you're able to break your contract with the one you booked it may be cheaper to hire one from home and bring them down with the rest of your guests.
  7. Not going to lie - having a runner will make it very difficult for you to walk down the aisle. Ive read from may brides on here that its very frustrating. Some even end up stumbling because the material doesn't remain flat/taut for you. You'd be better off just using sand..and asking them to 'board' it (not rake) the day of. It packs the sand down so you're not kicking it up too much. Just my 2 cents - but as far as the runner goes...i know they have red ones - not sure about white tho
  8. Unfortunately there are no outside photographers allowed...having said that - many of us brides are bringing our own. They're a 'guest' at the wedding and paying to stay at the resort so they can't do anything. I found it was much more worth the money to bring my own down. What $500 are you talking about? This is news to me
  9. I haven't gotten married yet - ha ha- i the frame comes with a lid on it but I will probably end up carrying it on the plane just to be safe! Not sure what other brides have done - maybe Tlseege can give us some pointers!
  10. i bought mine at sandsational sparkle - they even have sparkly sand u can buy too! http://www.sandsationalsparkle.com/Unity-Sand-Frame--Perfect-for-traveling_p_11428.html
  11. I got the picture frame one too! here's a pic for those who haven't seen one!
  12. I usually leave about $2-$3 USD /day for the maid service - what I do is buy these mini coin envelopes and print labels in english/spanish -thanking them for servicing the room. I'll see if I can attach below... As far as the bar service goes..I would maybe throw them about $3-5 USD every couple of days. You aren't required to tip them..but if you're consistently at the same bar...with the same bartender its nice to show them the appreciation every once in a while. I've also noticed you get better service when you tip them. Anyone else..like the wait staff at the restaurants...maybe just leave $1 here and there if the service is good.
  13. The only ones off the top of my head are Miami Vice (Mix of pina colada & Strawberry daquiri) and of course Tequila poppers! Yummmm
  14. I'm not risking it with the resort spa/salon either. I've hired Styling Trio Riviera Maya to come to the resort for me and my girls. Found great reviews on them thru this site. I chose them because they offer the airbrushing make-up which is exactly what i want with it being so hot and humid down there.
  15. Thanks for sharing Andrea! Don't worry it wasn't too negative. You pointed out the issues you had which is what we all want pointed out so we can possibly prevent them from happening on our day(s). Thats very good to know about the decorations. I was thinking about bringing lanterns too and I would be upset also if they ended up getting thrown out. But I also think its ridiculous to have to stay after your own wedding to clean up! May have to designate a couple of people to do this for me. Especially if we carry on to the Hacienda after we finish poolside. Very good to know that your iPod worked for the DJ..even though he didn't understand your request. I was worried Id have to put all my music on CD's to make sure they worked! ha! Very dissapointing to hear about the cake. Even tho its a small detail...you gave them a picture so there should have been no room for error. You're allowed to be picky! Its your wedding day! I'm also glad we're doing only a symbolic ceremony aswell. Good to know about the pick-up...we're supposed to be doing TTD the next day so not sure how that will work .I suppose I could pick it up the day after that. Cant wait to see pictures! Post LOTS pleeeaaaase!
  16. Thanks for your mini-review vicki! So sorry to hear about the salon/spa. Makes me glad I'm not using them. Thats the last thing i need to be worry about on the day-of. But very glad everything else turned out well for you! Post some pics if you can! Would love to see!!!
  17. Check out this site...it will give you the time of sunrises/sunsets for any date you want Its pretty cool! http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/astronomy.html?n=2264
  18. Ha ha - thanks! Ya and i'm so mean I used to laugh at all those girls on the show when they cried. But lo-and behold I had mine..too funny! Ya - the dress shud be here by summer! yay! only 4 months to lose 20lbs!! Wedding is November tho - so I'm still pretty good! ha ha
  19. THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH TLSEEGE!!! I can't wait to wear it there!! Its all becoming SO REAL now!! All of the planning ive been doing...the invites..the OOT bags...flowers...menus..etc - NONE of it has felt real until I got my dress. I guess its true what they say - "Its ALL about the dress!"
  20. I'm using Romantic Planet for my booking - have had an excellent experience so far. Theyre great because Weddings/Honeymoons is ALL they do..not just a standard travel agent - and they're not necessarily biased to one tour operator (i know AMA really pushes Air-Canada Vacations) I think their link is at the bottom of my signature if u wanna have a peek!
  21. THANK YOUUUU! It really is such an amazing feeling. I NEVER thought I'd have it. I watch 'Say Yes to the Dress' ALL THE TIME..and they always talk about having that moment and kept saying 'there's no way i'll have that - i'll just find something that looks decent and go with it'...I was SO WRONG!! And now that i have an actual dress - i have a literal goal for my weightloss. eeeeeeeeeeeee - July can't come soon enough! I'm already stoked for my 1st fitting!!
  22. A lil confused - as we're having a private dinner/dance reception ALL poolside and I only have 32 people (so far) I was never told I had to have a minimum amount of guests
