  1. PrettyPigPig, You really do seem to have your brain around this process, thank you for sticking with this thread even after you got your beautiful replica dress. I think I've read every review/post between BDW, weddingbee.com, weddingwire.com, brides.com, & partypop but I still don't feel like I know anything. It's kind of amusing after a while... or I'm just going crazy Like- Jeff Liu's prices are half of what Topspartner quoted me... how? I'm assuming it's quality of fabric but then again Jeff Liu has so much positive feedback. J
  2. Beautiful dresses choices ladies! c&J- that dress is amazing. Mishcaka, I hope you are having a fantastic wedding! And congratulations on the pregnancy Bonnie, If only it was in my budget, I'd be a happy, less-stressed girl. I did find it for $820-$850 at a few other shops further from the city (like a few hours further) but even then it would be a painful stretching taking into account alterations, etc... Primavera, I've sent emails to InWeddingDress, Topspartner, Dressily Me,and Jeff Liu. Jeff Liu sent a very short email saying he can make it for $219 including express shipping (didn't acknowledge my question on fabric and pictures either). InWeddingDress sent me a form email not acknowledging my request for pictures if they've made it before. I haven't heard back from the other two. I am going to chalk this up to the Chinese holiday and having a lot of emails since it's bridal season. My sister is in town so I'm taking her to see the few dresses on my short list. If she gives me the thumbs*up then I'll pull the trigger and hope for the best. I hope everyone is having a great Tuesday! jen
  3. Primavera- I tried on the designer made Ella Bridal 5487 dress this weekend and I LOVED it on. Unfortunately, its $1,099 at the local boutique I went too It felt really nice and comfortable on. The consultant was very nice and offered to take pictures... ignore the hair, glasses and complete lack of make-up I resized these for the thread, the larger ones are on Photobucket: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v394/agirlcalledbob/Dresses/Ella%20Bridal%205487/ My sister is coming to town and I'm taking her to see my short list of "likes"; however, I really think this might my dress... it just need those 2nd, 3rd and 6th opinions to tell me so Then the question will be- To replica or not to replica... Jen
  4. I can't find a price online for the Ella 5487 gown, The Knot has it in the $600-$1500 bracket. However, a local boutique has a sample in stock and I'm setting up an appointment to try it on tomorrow. I'll be going alone so I doubt I'll be able to sneak any pictures, but at least I'll be able to pass on a price to you Dress #1 is a Cymbeline Comtesse ('09-'10 collection), and runs around $3000 new, and $1500-$2000 used. The lace is fuller on a real person than on the model- http://www.whitexchange.com/dress/4080 But I wonder if inweddingdress.com could make the lace lay flatter... *head explodes* Hopefully some day this will all come together
  5. NHKinNegril and Less Is More- Thank you for sharing your experiences and hints with the chiffon dresses through inweddingdress.com! This definitely gives me a bit more confidence as I'm finalizing my decision Primavera- I figured out Dress #2 is an Ella gown # 5487- http://www.ellabridals.com/dress-5487 It's such a beautiful dress and has a nice balance of femininity and classic-sexiness. Now, if I could only figure out the designer for dress #1... I'm having a hard time choosing between the two dresses without seeing pictures straight-on of the front and the back of #1. Good luck with your dress!! Jen
  6. Trimming down my post from yesterday (lordy i'm long winded)... I think I've narrowed it down to two dresses. I'm leaning towards #1, the lace tiered dress. I've been hunting for the actual designers and would love to know them if anyone recognizes them: 1. http://www.inweddingdress.com/style-bc397.html 2. http://www.inweddingdress.com/style-bc173.html Based on this thread and others, I think one of these might be the best vendor to use: Monica Bridal, Topspartner, Dressily Me,and Jeff Liu. Anyone have an suggestions to which site might handle the lace tiered or the tiered detailing best? Or which type of fabric I should request a quote for? Thank you again, you ladies ROCK!! Jen
  7. Hello ladies, I saw a Madeline Gardner Morissette a few years ago on SYTTD and cannot get the tiered look out of my head. I've found the trumpet or fitted a-line styles to look best on me. I have a dress picked out at David's Bridal, which I really like, but not "love"... these tiered styles etched in my brain (the tiered DB is okay but lacks a certain femininity). Unfortunately, I'm not having luck in the local bridal salons finding something close to what I have in my head. I cannot afford to spend $900+ on dress just to see what it looks like, but I can spend $200 or so I've been searching the few replica/overseas sites mentioned here, weddingbee and projectwedding. I think I've narrowed it down to two dresses, I'm leaning towards #2. I am unsure of the actual designers and would love to know them if anyone recognizes them: 1. http://www.inweddingdress.com/style-bc173.html 2. http://www.inweddingdress.com/style-bc397.html Does anyone have any experience or recommendations for which site might handle the tiered or the lace-tiered best? How about the best fabrics I should request pricing for, for either dress. I noted some "speciality" reviews from PrettyPigPig (post #2005, pg 201 , as well as those from other message boards. Babyonline ---> Simple dress and not too much of beadings and laces, limited budget Monica Bridal ---> Complicated dress with a lot of laces and beadings and you want to fully customized..and don't wanna pay too much Topspartner ---> Nice replicas of Maggie and Pronovias dresses..etc with a lot of bones, nice lace and embroidery with minimum customization and willing to pay more Dressily Me - ? Jeff Liu - ? Inweddingdress.com - since this is the site I found both of them on. Thank you for ANY info you can give me. And I'm sorry I typed half a novel in here. Jen BTW- I'm so happy I stumbled on to this thread. Thank you for keeping it going for those of us who just started the Great Dress Adventure.
