  1. OMG! I am from Kalamazoo originally and my best friend (since we were fourteen) lives in Casco near Detroit and has two kids! Her son is getting married here in July so the whole family will be here! I can't wait! They are getting married at Makapu'u Point and have friends coming from everywhere, including Australia! Small world, eh?
  2. Hawaii is beautiful in October, you will have such a good time. Let me also tell you that you will find the people here friendly and hospitable since we are such a family oriented place! You don't have to spend a bundle to get married here, either, and you can get your marriage license at the State Department of Health in downtown Honolulu right away. They are open from 8AM-4PM Monday through most Fridays, but check because they do have a few furlough Fridays every month. Once you get your license it is good for 30 days and your minister will file the papers for you and you will have your official license in about three months unless you need it sooner in which case you can fill out a certified copy request. Let me know if there is anything you are unsure about, I have lived here 40 years (originally from Kalamazoo, Michigan) and would be happy to answer any questions you have! Aloha!
  3. I give Kaawa Plantation a big thumbs up! Private, lush tropical plants and even a pool to lounge around, but watch your tan lines before the wedding, LOL!
  4. I recommend Tiki's, the food and service is great and it is a fun place!
  5. We did a renewal of vows there at Kaawa Plantation in January and originally the couple thought they might use the chapel, but it has a lovely garden with pool and once they arrived they opted for the garden. There were about thirty people. Take my advice and have the wedding on the lawn with the flowers and tropical plants in the background and than take photos on the beach afterward. The vow renewal is on utube so you can see how the location looks: http://www.youtube.com/user/waikikivids?feature=mhum#p/a/u/1/rC6O14bGZMk
  6. Check out Hawaiian EYE Weddings at www.hawaiianeyeweddings.com, and leave everything to Leah!! Two decades in the business and everything is handled with Aloha!
