delgadot,
I am in the same boat having the same venue and all. We currently have a commitment from 64 people. We are waiting for 20 solid responses. Our final numbers and payment are due this week, and I still have people telling me they aren't sure yet if they can get the time off of work, but they want to come. I still haven't heard from others so I'm still trying to nail down as many non-committed ones as I can.
I have decided not to pay for anyone who hasn't booked their ticket or hasn't confirmed that they are coming by the time I initiate the wire transfer. They will either get washed out in the overflow or not (Our venue allows for a 10% change for the same price).
My recommendation to you, @delgadot is to pay for 3 out of the 9 people you are expecting. This would give you 6 additional heads for whom you "technically" wouldn't have to pay, because they would fall in the 10%.

My wedding venue requires a final head count and payment by May 21st and my fear is that these 9 people could at the last minute bail out either because they don't have the money or there are no more flights left and I will not be able to get my money back!!!! So I am not really sure what to do....aww the joys of wedding planning!LOL -
Hi Ladies,
I'm really considering making my veil myself. Can you tell me the names of some Canadian fabric stores? I am in Montreal. Thank you for any help you can provide.
-
Wow! Someone else from Montreal. Yippee!!!!!
I'm getting married on May 3rd, 2012 at Gran Bahia Principe!!!! Originally from Vancouver, moved to Montreal 2 years ago to be with FI and soon after our wedding we'll be moving to Quebec City!! What an adventure so far. =) Good luck and CONGRATS to all the MAY Canadian Brides!! WOOT WOOT!!!!! -
You look amazing! Congratulations! All of your hard work paid off! Your picks are totally getting me excited about starting all over again. [ quote name=kellygrrrl" url="/t/71635/the-official-insanity-support-thread/410#post_1760496] hey ladies - I made it!! or close enough, anyways. ; ) we leave for our wedding in 9 days, so I'll still keep active, but I went ahead and compiled some before and afters so I could get my free t-shirt (see: http://www.beachbody.com/text/products/programs/insanity/popup/tshirt.html). as a bonus, I heard back from them the very next day, and it should be here in time for the wedding! yay!! : ) I wanted to post some more before and afters here in hopes that they encourage future brides to try it out. I'm a HUGE advocate and am really excited by the results. last time I stopped around 6 weeks, and by continuing through month two, I ended up losing two inches off my waist and hips and dropped about 5 lbs overall. I also went from a size 4 to a size 2 (hence the wedding dress no longer fitting issues ; ). good problem to have! hope everyone is still doing well. I'll check in from time to time to see how things are going. KEEP PUSHING!! : ) had to toss in a few gratuitous muscle shots. FI enjoyed taking these. ; )

So funny to read my previous comment from one year ago. Not much difference does time make. My fiancé's mom hasn't offered anything, but she also hasn't gotten in the way. She has told us to tell her what she should do. This is pretty much hard for me. But we are going to ask her to take FI's son to and from the wedding and she is also collecting and storing all of the gifts at her house until out remodel is done. My parents on the other hand have not contributed financially. They have made offers to help on which they have had to renege. Since we weren't expecting help in the beginning that's been ok, but what ha sucked has been there pressure to invite more of my nor'easter family and friends. Luckily the outside support has continued. From both of or extends family and friends. We now have a photographer, videographer, and flowers for bridal party. I wish I had more immediate family support (and less grief), but I'm happy for the support I have.
Who pays for what is really tricky. There is what tradition dictates and there is what makes sense for the couple. My fiance and I decided that we would pay for our wedding ourselves in part because I did not want the wedding that my parents could afford to give to me and in part because I thought asking my FI's parents to shell out for a second wedding for my fiance would be unfair. Because of our fixed budget and what we prioritized (number of guests, great food and alcohol in taste and variety, great venue, and coordinator), there are many things that we will not be able to afford (professional photography, professional videography, new wedding bands, bouquets for bridesmaids and boutonnieres for groomsmen). Like so many of the families of the ladies on this board, my family knows that we are paying for this ourselves and has begun to make offers to help how they can. For example, my mom has offered her wedding dress, my sister has offered us her time share for our honeymoon, and my uncle has offered us his home for our welcome/rehearsal dinner/party. We are so grateful for these offers. Our wedding is not for a year yet, but I'm interested to see whether my FI mother will offer anything. We are not expecting anything from anyone, but I think her offering something/anything would be a nice sentiment that would show that she's interested in helping to make this a happy event for us. As my dad would say, "Put your money where your mouth is". -
Amazing! Everything was perfectly coordinated, classy, elegant, with a personal touch. I loved it! Congratulations, TorriLS! I hope you stick around a bit on your Canadian page....

erinmc,
I love the fine ruffling work on this dress. Congratulations! I think a deeper sweetheart will be nice. Will you be wearing the strap?

Hi Island Bride,
Your DIY projects seem lovely. I can't wait to read your planning thread!
Right now I'm just about finishing the wedding design with our coordinator. Next on the list were finishing my BD book and starting on folding 1001 origami cranes, which I haven't completely committed to doing yet.
But, our RSVPs were due yesterday and still over half of our guests have not responded. That means my re-prioritized first DIY project will be following up with everyone for their RSVPs. I never understood how critical that step was to wedding planning. I am so guilty of late RSVPing to weddings. I guess one could say, "Karma".
Wishing you continued warm weather for great outdoor painting and drying!

How about you Atalanta, what is at the top of your list?

Hi heatherc234,
I tried that dress on at David's and loved it, too. I completely understand about not wanting to pay even a thousand dollars for a one-time wear dress.
Many of the women here have had nothing but positive things to say about Jasmines. I was going to go through Jasmine's bridal for my own dress, but they couldn't source the color/fabric I wanted for my dress. Since you care so much about quality, have you tried to contact them for a price quote for your dress?
I know that doesn't quite answer your questions about dhgate, but the words in your message, quality, communication, nervous, called me to respond to your post in this manner.
Hope this helps.

I have found the dress on dhgate.com and was wondering if anyone has ordered from Beautydesign on dhgate?
Beautydesign has a 98.8% positive rate and very good feedback.

I am nervous because there is so much detail on the dress. I don't mind if the embroidery or beading design is different, but I do care if the tulle is ragged or the organza ruffles are weird.
Has anyone purchased from dhgate? Did you like their communication and service? Can you post pics of their work?
Thanks to all in advance and congratulations on your weddings!

@ delgadot,Wow! You've almost doubled your numbers! I think we've more than halved ours. I'm still stress because we under-budgeted.
@ everyone
What are you working on now?

@ Jamieirene- Congrats on 30 people booking!! That is very exciting when people book! In the beginning I was so excited every time someone booked too but now it is actually turning out to be a little stressful because we envisioned a small group and budgeted for about 40 people but we are now up to 64 people booked and expecting 75 people in total!! So there goes our budget!! But it is a blessing that we have so many people coming at least that is how I am looking at it to keep myself calm when I see the $$$ going up!!
I wish I could be done everything 30 days before but like atalanta I am going to be doing things for my wedding up until at least 2 days before:( Mainly working on the welcome bags because I will have to go shopping when we arrive on the island!
Well Congrats to all of the July brides time is really starting to pick up before you know it our month will be here!!! I am a nervous wreck but I know everything will go smooth!!

I'm glad you finally heard from them.Originally Posted by campbellk81
Thanks for the suggestions. See2Bee512, you were smart! I should have definitely done the same. I just hope I receive it earlier than 2 days before we leave. I finally got an email from Shades of pale today, but all it said was it is almost ready. At least I heard from them though.

My guess is that they haven't finished your dress and would rather finish it than update you. Probably not what you want to read right now.
Here are my two suggestions:
1. Call them... do you have a number for them. If not see if one of the BDW brides like Hoang who hasn't ordered her dress could get phone contact info for you.
2. You could also ask her to mention a concern that her friend has not received a response and her wedding is only 3 weeks away.
The threatened loss of a customer might get you your response. Those are the two steps I would take next in your situation.

This is beautiful! I would keep the hanging orchids. In this color, the orchids look more a part of the bouquet than the previous photo. If you are going for a unique, distinctive, tropical look this will be the talk of the town!
-
Congratulations! That is so exciting! Isn't it wonderful to have a place where you can share all the little details about your wedding to people who actually listen, identify, and care!

Hi JQ,
Thanks,
I'm not getting nervous yet. Are you? I think you have a good plan to be done 30 days out. Unfortunately, there are a few things that I will still need to do once I get to Jamaica. ;(
I'm afraid I'm going to be working up until the wedding. Plus, I keep adding things. Don't ask me why!

Hi Ladies,
I am passed my 2 month mark; only 57 days to go! Paid our coordinator our last payment and bought our tickets so now we are officially attending our own wedding. I'm back to my boudoir book and working on my veil. What's everyone else working on?
