Congrats to all of my fellow July brides :)

    Thanks principessa,

    And congrats to you, too!

  3. Hi MissLu,

I'm really sorry to read about your experience with Jasmine's Bridal. I'm not sure if your service experience has anything to do with the amount you spent. I ordered a custom wedding veil from them, a much less expensive item than a wedding gown and Jasmine's took excellent care and attention to detail with my veil. I don't know if they have different departments, but maybe the bridal department staff is much more detail oriented and quality controlled. My veil spent 4 days in quality control before even shipping.

In fact, my complaint was they spent so much time making sure it was perfect, I nearly didn't get it in time. And even then when I expressed my concern, they expedited shipping and were willing  to pay extra for it to be sent to my parent's address who flew out later than I did. Also, I don't think that Jasmine's is alone in requiring that customer's pay return shipping. The Chinese vendor I ordered my custom jewelry also has a customer-pays-for-return shipping policy.

In any regard, I really hope that you can get your money back and that you have enough time to make alternate dress plans. Regardless of the reason for a less than perfect item, you have a legitimate gripe. No bride needs this type of poor service before their wedding!

Thanks for sharing your experience and best of luck!

My sister and I were very disappointed with the bridesmaid's dress. There were at least 3 stains at the front of the dress close to the neckline. The bust was at least 2 inches too small and the front waistline too high. We couldn't zip up the dress. I thought I read somewhere that Jasmine's double or triple check their measurements. I don't know what happened. Maybe they were giving all the attention to making those "pricier" bridal gowns and didn't care too much about our two "cheap" evening and bridesmaid's dress.

I've emailed Jasmine's about my complaint and have not heard back from them. I just read on their website that they accept return for defective items but they would not refund deposit and shipping even for deflective item! Plus you'd have to pay for your return shipping. :(

  4. I like this dress a lot better than the original! I can't tell why because other than the flower, the dresses look the same. It might just be the way the ruffles fall in the front of the dress, but congratulations!

What do you think?

This dress looks amazing! I'm anti-bling, but love this dress on you!

I ordered standard sizing because all of the dresses i tried on in bridal shops fit perfectly. This one is slightly too tight, but I've also put on a couple pounds in the last couple weeks :~/

I was originally going to have a Dakota replica done by SOP but since I decided not to go with them...this dress called out to me instead. I was completely anti-bling the week before I ordered it, i don't know what happened! It doesn't really resemble original Lazaro design, but I love it :) For the price, it is PERFECT for my Vegas wedding! Sorry the pics aren't the greatest! I had to be a photo ninja in poor lighting so honey didn't see it!

  7. Hi @Punta Bride,

We ordered our linen clothes for the men from Island Importer. What I really liked about them was their service!

I called them and asked them if they would give us a discount. They usually only give the discount on 10 or more guys. At the time we contacted them, we only had 7 guys. They extended us a 10% discount anyway since we were buying tops and bottoms for the guys.

The men loved their outfits and looked great!

The have clothes for kids so we could be sure that the men and the kids clothes were an exact match!

Tommy Bahama ... and of course I fell in love with an outfit, but it is waaaaay too much money for our budget.  I'm talkin' $300 for each groomsmen.  I can't ask them to spend that much.  So, I'm looking for other ideas?  I know we are also limited in terms of the time of year to buy this kind of thing due to our seasons, so I'm getting antzy.  We are getting married next May and I don't want to leave it to the last minute!

I love your petals, but need a different color. Where did you get yours from? I just ordered a ton of them but they look so cheap compared to yours.

  11. Hi Fellow July brides!

We have 31 days to go.  We've got 64 guests confirmed. Still a few maybes including my younger siblings and parents. And still, 3 people have yet to respond! BangHead.gif

Other than that things are going pretty well. I ordered my cake decor today and parasols for the attendants. I have a fitting appointment on Friday to get my dress altered. The last two female attendants (negating my sister who still isn't sure she's coming) should get their dresses this week and the male attendants and my groom should get their outfits this week. My veil should be shipped at the end of next week.

Right about now, my only concern is what to do for our wedding finale. If I hadn't plan on resigning from my job, I would so have fireworks at our 4th of July wedding. OK, at $6,000 for 3 minutes maybe not, but I really would have liked to have had them.

My wedding coordinator suggested that sky lanterns would be another way to have a memorable sky production, but later told us that they were banned by the fire marshall. Next on the finale list were sparklers, which my coordinator told us she would allow.

At least one BDW bride said that TSA says they are a no no in luggage or carry-ons, so I tried to get them from the fireworks supplier in Jamaica. He's charging double the cost of the sparklers, which wouldn't be so bad except he will only sell them to people with fireworks permits. The permits cost $250!!!!! thatswck.gifI'm not paying $405 for 75 sparklers; $5.40 per sparkler seems outrageous!.

Does anyone have any other ideas for a visually beautiful send off for our wedding?

  12. MsMadrid,

I think all 3 dresses are beautiful. If you are having a beach wedding, the third might blow in the wind better for great pictures. The second one is interesting, but something about the headband/braced hem disturbs me. The first one is pretty, too!

    I hope that helps.

I think we're going to go with Secrets (we really like the wedding package they have) We are also considering the option of Sunset Beach for some of our guest. Our guests that are on a budget are my FIL and as of now they dont want anything to do with us and our wedding. But since we do have 2 years till it happens I was trying to think positive about this situation changing, although not very likely it will change. But thank you!

    Hi Kristin Ri,

I think it's wonderful that you have decided on Jamaica. I agree with the previous poster that you need to have the wedding that will make you happy. We planned our Jamaican wedding a year and a half out. From the beginning, my fiance was always worried that most of his side would not come. And, in the end he invited about 80 people and 22 people are coming. I invited about the same number of people. Although 46 people are coming, we are one month away and as of now my parents and my younger siblings are not coming.

There are people coming that I didn't think would make it, and there are people who aren't coming that I thought wouldn't miss it for the world. You AND your fiance have to be 100% ok with that!

For me it has been stressful not to have my parents enthusiasm and support, and it's changed my relationship with my parents, but having the wedding my immediate family would have wanted would only have made me miserable. If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't change a thing!

Hopefully, my experience is helpful in some way as you embark upon your planning. I wish you strength, peace of mind, and above all a beautiful and happy wedding/marriage!

  14. You cracked me up! I see you have the information you need. The dress you've picked out is lovely! I can't wait to see the knock off!

  15. Welcome kpalomo,

Congrats to you too! We are going with Merrick Cousley. I loved his pictures and prices. He has been excellent with communication. We are getting married in less that two months, it might be too late by then, but I'll definitely do a review of his services.

    Good luck!

I am looking for a good photographer and videographer for my ceremony and reception. I am having approximately 50 guests. Any suggestions? I have heard Sungold Photography (Paula and Damian), Stacey Clarke,Brian Nejedly, and Merrick Cousley. Any strong opinions for any of the photographers listed? I checked out their websites and they seem to be pretty good. The photos and video are sooo important to us so I want to ensure I am picking the right one! For the videography, I only have one contact which is Roxroy Gough. Any opinions on Roxroy or any other videographers you recommend?

Thanks Ladies. Any opinions/suggestions is highly appreciated! :-)

  16. IslandBride,
