Yes I did speak to a reference. They were extremely pleased and pointed me to a review they did on http://www.tripadvisor.com/ titled “A Magical Wedding Destinationâ€. I am definitely going with Merrick.

When I contacted him for my wedding next year, he advised that he is based in Kingston so he has to charge for travel and accommodation ($200) outside of Kingston. So in total I will be paying $300+$200 for the TTD, which I think is still a really good deal. He also provided me with a couple reference to contact. Will let you know how that goes.
