  1. Hey everyone, Just got back from our wedding. Everything went great. No stress at all. There is no planning required. Our WC was the group/wedding manager Pilar. She was great. Once we arrived and checked in you get a silver folder and it has a time to meet with your WC. This is when they go over every choice with you that you had, see if you want to add anything or take anything away and give you a written up contract. Our wedding was at 2PM and we picked the renewal package for $800 and just paid for the extra people. We had 40 people total on our trip including both the bride and groom. We originally had picked the Royalty Package but we were not going to use a lot of the exta's such as the 40 person a la carte meal (we were told we could only use it the day before, we were told only the La Hacienda which is the Mexican resteraunt and in my opinion it is the worst a la carte they have at the resort), other things that they include such as the cocktail hour were not important to me. (you are at an all inclusive resort.... Why would you pay for it?) Another nice extra was the couples massage but they have them going on for $80's for 2 people 50 minutes long. They are great so we both went twice! We changed our ceremony package while we were there and she was great about it no issues. We also had the private beach reception from 6PM-10PM booked but with the weather forcast saying we would be getting 10-20mm of rain each day while we were there we were hesitant on being on the beach so we decided to go with the chill out club (another last minute change). With the ceremony, extra's, dj, chill out club our total came out to just over $5600 USD for 40 people. Wedding Ceremony: We did the symbolic ceremony as we got legally married in Canada first. Our wedding was the sunset gazebo which is along the property line, in my opinion it is nicer because it is behind the chill out club which isnt all inclusive so there wasnt so many people on the beach around that area. It was nice and felt more private. The other option for the ceremony is the Riviera Gazebo which is right off the main bridge which leads from the resort tothe beach. It is right beside the all inclusive bar and is surrounded by people laying in there beach chairs (not private). The groom was to meet the minister at the gazebo at 1:30 to go over some instructions on how things are going to go. The bride got picked up from her room at 1:50, everyone walked in and the coordinator basically just gave you the signal to walk. (We had no rehersal as she said there isnt usually rehersals but if we want one we could get it but they charge for it). The minister then goes through the ceremony on a mic, whispers the vows to you and you speak them in the mic or you can read your own off if you have any. We did the sand ceremony, exchanged rings, kissed and walked out. Everything was perfect. Short and Sweet. After we shot a bunch of pictures with our guests and wedding party. We had some pictures done obviously with both of us after. When we finished pictures it was about 5:00PM we wandered over to the lobby bar and met the rest of our guests where everyone had been mingling. Reception: Like I mentioned earlier, it was at the Chill Out for $100PP. It was absolutely amazing, food was great, drinks were never empty. All your needs were tended to! Cake was delicious. Everything was perfect, we had a friend who was our MC. She was married in Jamaica and kept the ball rolling for everyone. I suggest having someone in charge of the group saying when you are cutting the cake etc so people dont wander off and take pictures all night. The only complaint I have about the reception is when they say 6-10 they mean it. I wish we had some sort of warning that it was getting close to 10 so we could have played a "special" last song. Right at 10 the music stopped. We grabbed the Mic, made a few annoucements about the going to the Disco and thanking everyone again and that was it. The resort encourages bringing any extra decorations or anything that you want, we had brought some chair wraps to match the bridesmaids dress's. They pressed them and tied them on every chair so perfectly. The resort staff was great. Honestly no complaints what so ever on the wedding/week. I havent heard a complaint from any of the guests at all. Nothing but praise the whole trip.
  2. Thanks everyone for the replys. Even if they say they are going to throw in the welcome dinner if I want to downgrade I will still probably downgrade because $2500 for 40 people and the package isnt comparable to $500 for 20 people and all the extra's. I mean throw in the extra $12pp for extra people and few extra bucks pp for the cake to be up to 40 people. Put in another few hundred bucks if you wanted to get a couples massage etc. Some of the people that are coming with us are hair stylists so they are doing everyones hair so we arent worried about that. In all honesty with everything in that package we want to pay as extra's I cant see if costing me anything over $1200. I also emailed the email for emma and I havent recieved a reply from that.
  3. What email are you guys using to get with Emma? The last person I dealt with was an Angelina... Our wedding is December 8th and we havent recieved a reply from the hotel since August 30th. I sent another email today hoping that they will eventually reply. I asked if we could have our a la carte meal as a welcome dinner since we are doing a private reception on the beach and they said you cannot. So know I want to lower my package from the royalty to the cheapest and just pay for the extras. I dont see why I should be paying for a full package when you are only using half of it... I have talked to dealt with multiple people when it comes to pricing (not by choice but the same person never replys to my emails). I'm not worried about how the wedding or planning is going to be turning out but I dont really want to be arriving in Mexico without having an idea of what the costs are going to be...
  4. Thats pretty much all the info we gave them. I was also told that the DJ would play your Ipod music. Everyone always says in this forum that they go their stressed but everything turns out good. We arent stressed out at all. Just kind of asking questions as we go. The bridesmaid dresses are yellow so we wanted to have some sort of yellow decoration to go with it and they said they dont have it so they suggested that we should bring our own stuff. Glad that came up
  5. Hey all, Our wedding Coordinator is Angela Lopez. I believe she is the third person to email us now. I find the communication with the hotel very intermittent. It seems like they keep going through different people and you will wait a month for an email. Angela just started emailing us and we recieved 3 emails in the past 2 days. So far she is very fast. We are getting married on the beach then having the private beach reception after. We want the DJ equipment just to bring our own Ipod/Music but I keep getting different quotes from everyone at the resort that we talk to. One wedding coordinator said 277/2hours and then now on our latest email Angela says its $832 for the four hours. Is anyone else getting different prices on the DJ? Its kind of frusterating because it seems like who ever you talk to prices are changing and when you are trying to figure out exactly how much things are going to cost they just keep you guessing! We havent really gone through any details with the resort either for the wedding. They havent asked us any questions or got us to give them any info other then the deposit and the form saying where, when, cake, flowers, what. Is there things that you all figure we should get lined up? Anything that you had to bring up that we may be forgetting about? I have the impression you just make lots of decisions once you get there. We have 44 people coming. Its going to be a great time. I brought up to them that in our wedding package we have an a la carte meal that was suppose to be on the wedding day but since we are having the private beach reception I wanted to get the a la carte another day. The best they can do is the day before they said. I was hoping to get one of the first days we arrive as sort of like a meet and greet with everyone that is going. We were at the resort about 2 years ago for new years and we absolutely loved it. By far the best resort we have been to. Very big. Food was great. It doesnt come off as a romantic quiet resort which is good because you want your guests to have a great time and have lots of activitys to do during there stay. -Adam
  6. Hey all, We are new to this forum. Hopefully this post works. We are getting married at the GSP dec 8/11. We are hoping some of the other members on here could send us some information and pictures on wedding. We stayed at the GSP last new years and the resort was great. However when we were there we didn't look at anything to do with weddings. We would like to get married on the beach and also have our reception on the beach. We should have about 40+ people going. If anyone could pass on some information and some prices and just some general advice we would be super super grateful. Feel free to forward any info to us at [email protected] and thanks in advance! Thanks alot, Adam and Ashley
  7. Hey all, My Fiance and I are getting married Dec. 8/11 and are just starting to get into the details now. We are expecting atleast 30+ people. We have been to the GSP before 2 years ago and it was amazing. We would like to get married on the beach and also have our reception there. Can any one on here send us some pictures and maybe some prices?? What is the email address of the Wedding Coordinator we should start contacting. We are just waiting on our travel agent to get us a group rate before we book the date. Do you think that we should just put down the $200 now and worry about the flights and rooms later? Please Please PLEASE feel free to email us any and all the information you have at [email protected] Thanks alot, Adam and Ashley
