  1. I emailed the beach resort yesterday, and got a response the same day! If anyone's interested, for the reception at Uncle Tony's for groups greater than 40 (which will be mine) they require a selected menu, which is what I can include in my RSVP since I am working on invitations today! The meal choices are beef tenderloin, chicken supreme and salmon medallions. Silvia also sent me some pics of the restuarant, it's a pdf file, I don't know how to cut and paste it here....let me see what i can do...

  2. Is anyone bringing their own centerpieces ? I have had some quotes from Tai Flora for some floral arrangements and it seems like alot of money for the 3 hour reception. They want 80-100$ US for anything I picked out of their catalogue, and I emailed them and told them a budget of $60 per table and haven't heard back! I will have minimum 8 tables, I just don't want to spend alot of money on centerpieces, when we could spend that on the steel band instead. ($60 x 8 tables = $480, I can handle that for centerpieces, but $100 x 8 seems to be a bit much)

  3. i sent out STD's in February, and on it i put 'formal invitation to follow'. I have ordered a bunch of stuff from cardsandpockets.com and I just have to print them and send them out. I'm thinking by the end of the month I will have them in the mail, and have an RSVP for mid October. I don't want any surprise guests popping up! I want to have everything organized.

    Jacki,

I have 6 more pounds to lose. I think that will put me into a size 8 before the dress fitting! It's so tough to lose though, between bridal showers, summer bbq's...but I'm doing something right!

  4. Jacki,

I have my dress! It's too big (yeah for celery!) I'm thinking to get it altered in September and final fitting in November.

I have the bridesmaids dresses ordered and flower girl ordered!

    I bought my shoes!

I have my invitations, we just have to print them and mail them, Im hoping to do that after this weekend's pre-Jamaica party we are having at our house!

I have some flower quotes from Taiflora, but it seems like a lot of money for flowers that we are just going to look at for a couple of hours, so I might do candles or something. I have paper lanterns, some small star fish and sanddollars for the tables, turquoise table runners and I think I'm going to order turquoise personalized fans to put on the chairs for the ceremony in the sun!

The groom and his boys will sort out their own attire! (so I'm being told!)

I'm not doing OOT bags. I definately will not have space to bring them down there! My number keeps rising and we are currently at 60 and I haven't even sent out the real invitations yet!

  5. ladies....

i just got some quotes from Tai Flora in Jamaica for centerpieces, and I anticipated about 75 dollars (as the top end) and am I ever wrong! They started at 79 and up (US dollars plus tax) Can I ask what others are paying for their centerpieces ? I just don't want to haul a bunch of stuff down there (ie floating candles or something) if i have 8 tables ($80 per table x 8 = 640 for a 3 hour reception?)  I'm torn....seems like a lot of money to me.

  6. I ordered a dress from lightinthebox.com in the fall. It is very well made, but the sizing was off. I normally wear a 10, and I ordered it in a 12 thinking it most definately would fit me, and I couldnt get the zipper up to accomodate a 36 C! I was hesitant to order another dress without special ordering the size for specific measurements. It came very quick though...i thought about this for bridesmaids, but ended up at Davids bridal instead

  7. I'm working on another DIY project, invitations! Does any one know if the set meal is one option (for example,we all eat tenderloin) or do we have a choice of all the options for Uncle Tony's ? It says for groups of 25 or more they require a set preselected menu. I just don't know if I send out my invitations with the options of my guests picking an entree (listed is the tenderloin, salmon, chicken or vegetarian) on my RSVP ??  What did any past brides do  ?

  8. Congrats to all the 'just got married' ladies!! All of your teaser pics are fantastic!!

I think I'm going to go with just the beer and wine at the reception. I'm estimating 70 people (70 x $10/hr X 3.5 hrs = $2450!!) I think I would rather spend that money on entertainment...like the steel band or slideshow. I don't think that's unreasonable....I mean, we will be at an all inclusive resort for a week! I'm sure they will get their fill of liquor! I think wine and red stripe will do nicely.

  9. I thought I'd better get on the list!

  10. I ordered from efavormart.com too! The prices are crazy good! I ordered the organza table runners and silk fans. I'm going with the resort silver chair sashes though, I don't want to be bringing too much stuff down there

  11. Beachbum,

We payed $1887 per person from Toronto through Air Canada Vacations. Plus a $250 early booking bonus, so it was under $1600 for the beach resort. The suites quote was $2100. I didn't want my guests paying more than $2000 for our wedding, and the beach looks fantastic too! So that's why we chose it. We booked everything in February. Now the prices have gone up, but I'm sure they will go down again before we leave, and a few people will book last minute

  12. I ordered some envelope seals from vistaprint, and some address labels and I put them on hand santizers from Bath & Body Works and little tubs of lip balm that I found at dollarama (2 for 1.25!) This is how they came out. (I also posted this on a thread called everything you can do with vistaprint, which has other great ideas!!) Of course I had to order the free 100 postcards too!
