  1. Hi Amy, I sent you the contact info via the e-mail address that you provided. I hope you can find it helpful. Good Luck! Olga
  2. Erin, Did the make-up guy need a minimum of 4 people in order for him to come to the hotel? Does he have a salon? Tara gave me 2 names, however I think one was a make-up artist and the other one did hair. I did e-mail them both today, so I hope that I hear back soon.
  3. Hannah, My wedding is June 11, 2011 which is actually between yours and Lindo626. I would appreciate if the starfish can be passed to me ans then I will pass it on to Lindo626. BTW, thanks for the comforting words, its so nice to know that there are people who know exactly how you feel.
  4. Lindo also requires a minimum of 50 people, which I will not have. They told me that if I want to have a beach reception then I must pay for 50 people regardless. After a lot of consideration and tears I decided that I was going to go thru with it. It just sucks paying $$$ for nothing, I would much rather use that money for something else. I guess if you want it bad enough, you will spend the money. I swear they try to get as much out of you as they can. Here a pic that Reyna sent to me, its a bit dark, but you can atleast get an idea. I was told that the lights are not included. I will also have a light up dance floor, that my DJ will be providing. It will be somthing like the picture below. I really feel it will add that extra something.
  5. They are charging me $50 per person with a minimum of 50 people, which I do not have. At first I was super irritated and really upset. I found this out while speaking to Reyna on the phone. It took me forever to actually get in contact with her and when she told me that I would still have to pay for 50 people (even though I was not going to have 50 people attending my wedding) I actually ended the conversation as quickly as humanly possible and hung up. I did even ask any of the other questions that I so desperately wanted answered, I was that upset. I pretty much had a breakdown. After I got that out my system, I decided that I was going to have a beach reception no matter what. So it sucks spending all this money for pretty much nothing. But if this is what it will take then be it. I know that Tara got her hair and make-up done by an outside vendor. She gave me the names and contact info for both the hairdresser and the makeup artist. I checked out their website, and both of them have pictures of the work that they have done. I know for a fact that the makeup artist has airbrush mac makeup, which should look amazing. I think I will definitely go that route. It is a bit pricey however its my wedding day and I want to look flawless. If any of you girls are interested let me know, I can pass on the contact info. I would also love to be included in the star fish pass along.
  6. Hi Hannah, I was wondering if you would be kind enough to share your diet with me. I recently lost 10 lbs, but I am struggling to lose any more. My second fitting fitting is April 11, 2011 and I would love to lose some more weight. My e-mail address is [email protected]
  7. Hi Girls, I have been MIA for a while, but I just spent an hour catching up! Erin, Congrats on becoming a Mrs. I was only able to see the two pictures that you posted in this forum, and you looked absolutely beautiful. I would love to see some more pictures, if you are willing to share . BTW, it’s so crazy about the best man. I have to say that has to be the shocking story that I have ever heard of. Things like that should only happen in movies, not a few days before your wedding. I don’t know what I would have done, if I were in your place. I probably would have had a breakdown. But I am glad to hear that your “perfect day†was perfect and everything worked out in the end. My wedding is fast approaching; I can't believe that it’s less than 3 months away. I am getting married at Lindo on June 11, 2011. I am having the ceremony at the Kiosk Gazebo and a beach reception. As I read in some of the previous posts, I too can relate to the frustration of friends and family backing out of the wedding. As someone mentioned, people don’t realize how they may hurt your feelings. When we initially started to plan our DW, we were realistic and knew that not everyone that we invited would attend. However, some of the No's that we got truly shocked us, well at least ME. First, I found out that my Matron of Honor was not going to be a part of the wedding nor was she attending. And the best part is that I had to get that out of her, because she was waiting to tell me. Thus, I had to ask someone else in my bridal party to now be my Maid of Honor. So as most of you can imagine, it was a pretty crappy situation to be in. Because it now seems that that other person is my “second†choice. Nevertheless, my sister accepted the duty and really didn’t give me any crap about being my “second†choice. Then I found out that most of my family (aunt, uncle, and all of my cousins) are not going to be able to make it to the wedding. Each and every excuse seemed to be more ridiculous than the previous one. I should mention that when we started the planning process, everyone was on board, but when it was time for the deposit, the suddenly realized that they cannot attend. It is so frustrating!!! With the help of my Amazing Fiancé, I decided that I will not let this get me down. I came to a realization that this is about him and I. So if those people do not want to be a part of our “special day†then it’s their loss. We will be happy to have our closest friends and those family members who actually want to celebrate with us. With that said we have 24 people (including us) who will be there with us dancing the night away. Sorry about this long post, its been a while. I guess this was building up for a while. I look forward to catching up! ~Olga~
  8. Hi Hannah5611, I initially had a difficult time getting a hold of Reyna. I actually had my travel agent contact her and she immediately returned my email. I also was able to get a hold of Reyna via telephone. I found that the best time to reach her was 5 pm EST. However it is surprising that Lily or Mayra didn’t get back to you. If I were you I would try to call. I purchased a calling card at CVS; I found it to be very helpful, since it’s like 14 cents a minute. If you need any phone numbers, let me know. Good Luck!
  9. Gail, the pictures are amazing. You made a beautiful bride. I noticed that you had candles on your tables. If you dont mind me asking, did the hotel provide them or did you have to bring them?
  10. Hey Ladies, I officially book my wedding on June 11, 2011 at the Lindo/Maya. I am so excited for what’s to come. Now the real planning can begin.
  11. Congrats. If you don’t mind me asking what was the price quote that you received from him and what was the duration?
  12. Thanks, its nice to know that someone else felt the same way I do. For some reason I cannot open the attached pictures, something about me not having the required permissions to download attachments. My e-mail address is [email protected], if you could please e-mail me the pictures and the e-mails from the coordinators, I would be very thankful. BTW- do you by any chance have the 2011 price list?
  13. I actually bought a calling card and have been calling for a few days now. No response as of yet. I called my travel agent and she promised that she will make sure that Reyna will get back to me one way or another. I am a bit anxious since we are only about 7 months away from the (wanted) wedding date, so I really would like to get things rolling. I am also offering my guests the option of staying at either Maya or Lindo. But my fiancé and I will be staying at Grand. I wish I could have the wedding at Grand but some of my guests may be bring children (my sister will be bring my niece for sure) and since its an adults only resort, they will not allow the wedding there. But Maya looks just a beautiful. So if I understand correctly, you cannot have the reception pool side? Why would that be, did they flat out say no, it is not possible. I know a few people that have had their weddings at other hotels and pool side was no problem. If this is true, I will be really bummed. I really wanted to have the wedding outside, kind of the whole point of a destination wedding. Do you have any pictures of the reception/ceremony area(s)? Just so I can get an idea, for now at least. I really appreciate all your help. And you definitely helped me...no confusion at all. Thanks again. I look forward to speaking with you soon.
  14. Hi Lindobride14, If you don’t mind me asking where are the other half of your guests staying? Also, I am not sure who Lily and Mayra are, my travel agent told me to contact Rayna. I e-mailed her and left a message for Rayna, but unfortunately no response. Today I did leave a message for either Lily or Mayra (hoping that someone will return my call). I wanted to know if you are aware of the options for the ceremony and the reception at Maya. I read in previous posts that the beach area's space is not that big, but how small is it really? Also do you know if the ceremony/reception could be held by the pool? Have you gotten any price lists for the wedding packages yet? Any information you could spare would be greatly appreciated.
  15. Hi Kitty, Â I am also planning to get married at Iberostar Paraiso Maya. We are planning to get married late May, early June 2011. I just recently picked my location, so let the planning begin. I am going to get in contact with Reyna (as instructed by my travel agent). I was wondering if you could give any advice or share any information that you have acquired so far.
