  1. Hello All, I'm new to Destination Wedding Forum, so I apologize if there's already a thread for this question, but where did you find your destination wedding dresses? I'm looking for something either above the knee or a bit longer that has pizazz (corset in the back, a bit of a color accent, that sort of thing). I really don't want to deal with a long dress on the beach. Everything I find is very plain, strapless, etc. and they all seem to look alike. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
  2. I totally agree, but he feels strongly about NOT going to Mexico, so I don't want to force the issue. If it were just a vacation, I might push it, but I don't want any negativity on our wedding moon. I would rather find a place we can agree upon. I have been to Jamaica (with my 1st husband) and loved it, but we also want to go somewhere that is new to both of us. St. Lucia looks beautiful and we were planning to go to a Sandals resort because they seem to have the "wedding moon" thing down to a science. We also live in suburb of a high crime city (Reading, PA), so I think he just wanted to escape all that, as much as possible. I'm not heartbroken about it ~ St. Lucia sounds great! Aruba is also beautiful and one of the safest islands statistically, but again I was there with my ex. Good luck with your planning!
  3. Well my fiancee doesn't want to go to Mexico with all the crimes in the news OR Jamaica, so we're looking at St. Lucia now.
  4. RunningBride24, we are also considering the Regency. My fiancee is an avid golfer, and I too am an over-analyzer... LOL! We've been all over the map with where to go from St. Lucia to the Bahamas to Mexico and back to St. Lucia. Have you booked your wedding yet?
  5. Hello All, Â Have any of you had any difficulties with getting married in Mexico? A travel agent told me that there are a lot more hoops to jump through with documentation, translation, and receiving your marriage license months later. Any input would be appreciated!
  6. Thanks Wakegirl22! It sound fabulous! From what I understand, Sandals makes getting married easy compared to going someplace like Mexico where you have to have documents translated, etc. Is Ocho Rios the resort that they recently renovated?
  7. Thanks islandbride317! Â So you liked Sandals Ocho Rios? Is that now called Sandals Royal Plantation? My fiancee seems to think Jamaica is dangerous, but I think we would be okay on the resort. Did you have any problems? Â Thanks! Lisa Â
  8. Thanks Hockeymom! My fiancee keep going around and around about where we want to go. We are working with a local travel agency, but the rep isn't too helpful in making recommendations. It will only be the two of us, so I don't know if it makes sense to hire a wedding consultant or go through a firm like Luxe or Destination Weddings. Then I get on the review sites and see negative comments on almost every resort. It's so hard to filter out the valid complaints from ranting and raving. Anyway, I'll start with a list and take it from there. Thanks for the advice.
  9. Hello All, Â I'm trying to decide between Adventura Spa Resort in Riviera Maya and Couple in Jamaica. We were also considering Sandals. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! All this wedding info is starting to merge together into one confusing blob of information and indecision! Â Thanks for your help!
  10. I would love to hear more about it. We are considering booking our wedding there in the spring of 2011.
  11. Hello All! I'm new to the Web site and in desperate need of some advice. I got engaged in December and we are STILL undecided about where to have our destination wedding. We are considering Sandals Emerald Bay but I have read some not so stellar reviews. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
