  1. Erin, You may be able to just share the link to your album on facebook and she should be able to view the photos even without having a facebook account. Go to your album, scroll down to the very bottom and there should be something in very small print that says "to share this album provide this link etc etc"..... see if that works, it may be the easiest solution.
  2. Do you mind me asking where you're getting married and which photographer you hired? I HAD to swicth photographers but not by choice. My original photographer bailed on me (luckily I got my deposit back) so then I had to find someone else. In the end I am glad it worked out this way because I like the new one better but at the time it was a major wedding crisis for me!
  3. Hi Girls!! Just wanted to check in to see how everyone's planning is coming along? After reading Erin's post and seeing some of her photos it is definitely making this all seem more real! I am currently trying to finalize all of the last details with Karla (ie. flowers, seating plan, menu, rehearsal dinner, ceremony etc). Photographer is hired, DJ is now hired (we decided to go with DJ Doremixx based on all of the wonderful reviews), my dress will be ready on March 9th, and best of all the group rate deadline has passed so at least that is one less thing to worry about! Our budget is quickly being eaten up so I dont think I will be able to do the OOT bags that most destination brides do... I am a bit disappointed by that but none of our guests are expecting them (this will be the first destinationation wedding for most of them). Next is trying to actually get FI to buckle down and get working on the playlist for our reception.... that was pretty much his only task! We also need to buy him a shirt and sandals for the ceremony. I still need to buy a couple of summery things (ie. bathing suit cover up, a new bathing suit, maybe a sun dress) so that will be my mission over the next couple of weeks. So thats my update for now.... can't wait to hear about how all of you are coming along!
  4. Meggers, Are you flying Air Canada by chance? We got the 25 people and then got 1 free so I was just curious if another airline had the same deal or if it was also AC. I just got a reply back from my travel agent about taking my wedding dress as my carry on.... basically you can do that but if the flight is full and they have nowhere to hang it then you have to put it in the overhead compartment!!!! What the heck is that about???? Last thing I want is people's suitcases and bags crushing my dress up there. I told my FI that even if I had to make all our guests take turns holding it on their lap then thats what I would do to avoid the overheads! My FI's one and only job is also the playlist.... do you think he has started it yet? NOPE!!! I am still trying to decide what our first dance should be and the rest is his responsibility.... hopefully he gets his but in gear soon! I also have numerous emails flying with my wedding coordinator at the resort to try and finalize all the final details.... hopefully all if this stressfull stuff will be over soon and I can try to relax a bit. I know it will all be over so fast that I should really just slow downa and enjoy..... sometimes easier said than done! Hope everyone else's plans are coming along!
  5. Hi Teira, I was actually trying to find out about this as well because I really liked it too! Apparently its from Forever 21 and is only $30! See here: http://www.possessionista.com/2011/02/bachelor-fashion-february-14-emilys_14.html#axzz1EeXOmXXV I think I have to make a trip to my local Forever 21 this weekend!
  6. Hi Erin!!!! Welcome Back! Congratulations! I can't wait to hear all about it!!!! I have Karla too.... YAY to that!
  7. I think they were going for 2 weeks so we will have to wait a few more days (at least)!
  8. Hi there, I was thinking about it and I really think I need the 35 so thanks very much for the offer but I think I will have to order my own:( Hopefully there is someone else who could use the ones you don't need.
  9. Hi! I am in Surrey..... I was thinking just black (good for both male/female) as well but I will need about 35. How many are you looking for?
  10. Hi Lua, If you don't mind me asking.... where did you order these things from? I also live in Canada (BC) and have experienced the hassles of getting things shipped across the border! If you have a web site or something I would love to check it out. Thanks!
  11. Hi Nucci, I totally feel your pain! Get this.... my FI's brother has bailed and his father probably can't come either!!! His father who has lived in Canada for 30+ years has never applied for his permanent resident card and therefore cannot leave the country (well he can leave but he can't come back). So now with less than 2 months to go till the wedding he has finally realised that he can't come without doing that first and he has finally started the process. Problem is that it takes way longer to get than a couple months. So now he has paid an arm and a leg to try to expedite the process and there is still no guarantee that he will get it in time. We have been together for 10 years..... talking marriage for at least 5 years.... and we had told everyone we will be having a destination wedding over 3 years ago. AND he waits till now to actually do something!!! As for the brother.... his excuse is that his hockey gear got stolen and he has to spend $2k to replace it and therefore doesn't have money to come. He had already paid a deposit to get in on the group rate and then he bailed 3 days before final payment was due. He then had the nerve to ask if he could get his deposit back!! ARRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!! Thats my vent session for the day!
  12. Hannah --- quick question for you. Who did you hire for DJ Services again? My FI has now decided that we HAVE to have a DJ who can do the announcements etc (the one at the resort does not do them). Oh and did you decided on a photographer?
  13. Hi Hannah, Yay! We have another person to carry on the tradition! It makes me a bit nervous to think about leaving the starfish at the resort... never know what can happen with it in between weddings. I think I would much rather mail it to you and then we can be sure it doesn't go missing. Today is the deadline for our group rate payment so at least once today is done I can have that headache be over with!! Very much looking forward to it!
  14. Erin, Wow!!! Those are GORGEOUS!!! I am so happy that I found out about this and even happier that you are willing to pass the tradition on to me! I will send you my address via PM. Make sure you post a photo of your bouquet with these in it after you get back! I still can't believe that total strangers (well sort of!) are so kind and generous and willing to do these things. I will definitely pass it on to Hannah for her big day and I am sure she will do the same. Hannah - if you don't already know someone getting married after you, you could always post in the June form and I am sure someone will love to take part in this. Once again, thank you so much Erin!! I know your day will be beautiful and we all can't wait to see the pictures!
  15. Our photographer is going to be $1500 for the day and that includes all the digital pictures on a DVD which we get that SAME day!! They also have a 5 hour package for $1000 and that also includes the DVD the same day (I thought that was a big deal since most other companies ship it to you after the fact). We are also getting some extra things though like livestreaming of our wedding so that will be an added cost too (just haven't worked that out yet). As for the penalty, my wedding coordinator said they would honor the original amount so I am not sure why yours would be different. If worst comes to worst I guess you could still just go with the resort photographer and avoid the extra fees. As for the ceremony time, I had booked that a long time ago because they have to book the officiant since they are from off-site and do lots of weddings each day. Our menu selection as well as flowers, decorations, etc everything else is due to the wedding coordinator 30 days prior to the wedding (so March 6th). She had sent me a big long form to fill out that asks all of those questions. Both Erin and I are having our reception at El Faro restaurant which is the one that the Beach side and Del mar side share for private receptions. I think "Tara" may have had her wedding at Lindo (she just got back last week) and she has a photo sharing site that she could send you if you want to see her pics. In her pics it look like she may have also used El Faro but you would have to ask her to be sure (looked very similar in her photos). I go for my first fitting appointment for my dress next week. That is when it will be determined how much alterations are required... fingers crossed it's not too much!! I don't have a photo handy, sorry:( I am so excited about this starfish thing!!! I think it is an amazing idea! Can't wait to hear Erin's explanation later.
  16. Hannah, Yes I know what you're saying about the shower and it makes sense but I still do have a bit of a guilty feeling.... maybe it will pass!! So funny about the veil too... I was told the same thing and I'm not wearing one either. Last thing I want is to have it lowing around everywhere and have that be the focal point in all the pictures! Did you decide on a photographer yet? How about your dress, how is that going? As for the Starfish, I think it is sounding like more and more of an interesting thing to do. If Erin decides to pass it on, I would love to do the same for you. Think of it as passing on our good luck and having a small part in each other's day. Its funny how a complete stranger can know so much about you and what you are going through as a result of this forum.
  17. Brandy, These are really cute! I know my mom wouldn't wear it though.... but your mom may be "hipper" than mine! Where are they from? They would even be cute as bridesmaid dresses!
  18. Hi Erin!! I can't believe you're leaving so soon! Are you excited or more nervous? Great job on the dress situation... I would love to have that problem with mine! I am sure you will look fantastic. I would love to see some of your phots after you get back... it will give me a good glimpse into what to expect. I have looked through Tara's photos and that really made this whole thing feel real. As for the Starfish thing... I have never heard of it but I am intrigued.... do tell! It sounds like a great idea and I already have visions of passing it on to the other Hannah who gets married at the Iberostar a month after I do. Bet ya can't wait to get out of that snow!!!!! The countdown is on!
  19. Yes we would have received a one-time price adjustment if the price would have gone down prior to the final payment being due. We got our group rate in November and the final payment deadline is Feb 7th (our wedding is April 6th). We also get some other perks too.... for every 25 people who book with the group you get one free (you can either use the free trip for one person or you can split it among all the guests and they would get an extra discount). The bride & groom also get upgraded to Business class for free if you have at least 20 people book and the entire group gets free seat selection on the flight.
  20. I went through the same thing when we first started looking at rates.... It was crazy expensive and I was really worried! My travel agent told me to just wait until about 6 months before the wedding and then look into group rates. If your guests are going to book on their own anyway there is no harm in checking out what the group rate would be. So that is exactly what we did and got a GREAT deal with Air Canada vacations. Our group package is $400 less per person than the current posted price..... and a little tip about the so called early booking bonus.... even though they keep saying that it is only till a certain date they always extend it.... multiple times!! Even though we have now booked (our wedding is in April) I still look at the prices all the time and it keeps re-affirming that we got the best deal. Just my two cents!!
  21. Hello Girls!! So I am happy to report that my photography crisis has offically been fixed!! We have now hired "Photos in Cancun" to cover our wedding and I am very excited! Their work looks great and they have been awesome at responding to my emails quickly. Whew!!! That caused me some major stress for the last week so I am very glad to have it dealt with now. On another note.... I have an appintment at the bridal shop next week to start the fittings!!! Eeeeek! Better work extra hard at the gym! My friend has also organized a bridal shower for me even though I feel really bad asking people to come and buy me presents since they are already paying to come on the trip.... hope people don't think it's too much. How's everyone else doing??? It is offically February now so I can say 2 months till the BIG DAY!
  22. Sooooooo....... BDW saves the day again!! My photographer (who I had booked months ago) cancelled on me last week and I had to find a new photographer for our April 6th wedding. BDW was the first place I went to try and find photographers to contact..... and it just so happened that was the day that Photos in Cancun posted their intro above. I contacted them (along with about 10 other photographers) and I was so impressed that we are now in the process of working out our contract and paying our deposit! I can say that out of the 10 I contacted, PIC's reply was different from the start. Right off the bat they seemed trustworthy and they really seemed liked they wanted to help me out. After reading the reviews on this site and looking through the photos on their site (multiple times!!) I had made up my mind. All that was left was to get the FI's approval.... and really he pretty much just wanted to give me whatver I wanted after the cancellation fiasco (and my anxiety attack following it!). So here we are now and I am so excited to work with Derek and Lorena! Thank you for turning our unfortunate situation into a great opportunity!
  23. I wish we had a good reason like that but really we don't!! We wanted to get married mid-week becauase most of the flights were Fri, Sat and Sun so by getting married on Wed that gave people the option to fly out on any of those days and still make it for the wedding.... That's really about it!!!
  24. Hi Brandy, Well we are getting married at the Iberostar Paraiso Beach on April 6th. So far we have about 35 people booked due to the really good group rate that we managed to get from one of the BDW Travel agents! My greatest headache right now is trying to get everyone's info and credit card info to finalize the bookings (everyone has just put deposits down so far). Final payment is due on Feb 7th and as of today if someone were to book the same package on their own online then it would cost them about $400 more per person!!! Other than that, we will be having a private reception dinner with 2 menu choices (our guests can choose their entree when they rsvp on our web site). I have chosen my flowers, I have my dress (it just came in so now need minor alterations), my FI has his linen suit (he still needs a shirt), my mom and dad both have their outfits, we won't be having a wedding party so don't need to worry about that. Just the other day my photographer actually bailed on me (said she had a family matter come up and will be out of town during our wedding). So she has refunded me my deposit and I have spent the last few days emailing other photographers for their pricing and availability. Fingers crossed that I can have that dealt with this week! My girlfriend is currently planning my shower (which I am really on the fence about because I feel like I shouldn't be asking for anythign due to the fact that everyone is already paying to come to the wedding). I don't think I will be doing OOT bags.... our budget is getting really limited and I am also finding out how much room they take up and that we would need to transport it all down there. I am trying to figure out what else I could do instead.... still thinking about that one! My FI's brother is also in a wheelchair and so that brings us a whole new set of challenges and plans to make but he could never imagine getting married without his bro by his side so we will do anything we need to make that happen.... fingers crossed it will all work out.
  25. Hi Kathy, I have been reading the TONS and TONS of posts in this forum and I have now gotten to yours and realized we have the same wedding date!! I have mainly been posting in the Iberostar Forum since that is where we are getting married but I recently came across this forum and I can barely keep up..... you girls are busy bees!!!! It has been great spending hours (and I mean literally hours) reading up on everyone's progress.... there is definitely lots to do still and this keeps reminding me of that! A little over 2 months to go until the big day.... I can hardly even believe that it is so close. Good luck with all the planning!
