  1. Congrats on your engagement! Sorry, I don't have any of the answers your looking for, but I do have a quick list of things I wish I knew a year ago...

    1. Wedding colors are tricky.  I picked hard-to-find colors (coral and teal) and it seems everything comes in more basic colors like light blue, royal blue, navy, purple, pink, orange, green.  Just a thought to consider when choosing colors.
    2. Dance lessons!!!  This has been the MOST fun of preparing to get married.  Expensive…but SO worth it!
    3. It IS possible to get an amazing but less expensive dress.  Keep searching.
    4. There is a reason people go with traditional bridesmaid dresses…they are easy to match with the rest of the bridal party.  I went with just regular gowns from Nordstromâ€s and had to find out the hard way NOTHING comes in that color (coral!!!)
    5. DO NOT write anything about your registry on Save the Dates or Invitations….TACKY!  I thought this was a given (this advice is in every wedding book ever written…), but Iâ€m finding tons of people are making this mistake and it just rubs guests the wrong way.

    Hope this helps!

Hereâ€s a few things Iâ€ve learned from wedding planning so far:

Congratulations on your engagement!  Enjoy EVERY minute of it and start the planning early!  Early planning = less stress!  Smile, smile, smile because everything from the dress fitting to the cake tasting to invitations is supposed to be the FUN part of planning a FUN event!  (itâ€s easy to forget sometimes).  Treat everyone around you with grace and kindness and they will come through for your big day.  Most importantly, HUG and KISS your honey often!!!

  9. Hi there!  I highly, highly recommend going through a wedding coordinating agency such as Ajua weddings if you're doing a Catholic wedding.  They are extremely strict in Mexico with all the church requirements and I know of a few brides on this forum who had their church ceremonies cancelled because of missing paperwork/not fulfilling every last requirement etc.

    Less stress = happy bride!

  10. I think this is a great idea.  I think the best way to do it is to maybe start with the bride/father since thats the one everyone wants to see anyway, then maybe the DJ invites the groom and mom, then maybe other members of the wedding party and their significant others?  This was groom and mom are still important "features" of the dance, but its not awkward with just two couples?

  11.

I'm getting married at The Royal Playa Del Carmen and I cannot WAIT to have DJDoremixx for my wedding.  The light up dance floor is supposed to be legendary.  M sister went to a wedding in Playa Del Carmen where he DJ-ed and she still talks about it.  Iâ€ll be dancing the night away in less than 3 weeks!!!  Highly recommended by other folks on this forum...

  12. I think the best way to let folks know you want $$$ is to have your closest friends and family spread the word...or set up the "honeymoon fund" using an online application.  I think a good rule is to NEVER, NEVER put it anywhere in print, or anything registry-related in print anywhere but the actual wedding website.  It has just always rubbed me the wrong way to see it on STD or invites.
