  1. Wear whatever will make you feel CONFIDENT and HAPPY!!!  Thats all that matters.  If you feel silly with a train and veil, it will show.  If having a train and veil is important to you and will make you feel like the bride you want to be, it will show.  You just have to love every piece of what you've chosen to wear.  And LOTS of brides are choosing not to wear veils, they are really not a mandatory object like they once were ....GOOD LUCK!

  2. Looks like there's been some time for the dust to settle on this, let by gones be bygones.  A lot of this could just be a ton of miscommunication and misunderstanding.  Our own perceptions are never reality.  In today;s economy, regifting makes sense.  It's better for the environment and at least shows some thought...as opposed to no gift and no thought.

I am so in love with The Royal Playa Del Carmen in Mexico.  It is absolutely breathtaking and so far they have been so responsive to everything Iâ€ve asked for.  We did a site visit back in Sep. 2010 and it felt like there was no way to take a bad picture…it is SO, SO gorgeous!!!

Get some books too!!!  They'll have everything you need.  And spend a good day or so on this site, it gets overwhelming, but you catch on fast!

Hereâ€s a few things Iâ€ve learned from wedding planning so far:

    1. Wedding colors are tricky.  I picked hard-to-find colors (coral and teal) and it seems everything comes in more basic colors like light blue, royal blue, navy, purple, pink, orange, green.  Just a thought to consider when choosing colors.
    2. Dance lessons!!!  This has been the MOST fun of preparing to get married.  Expensive…but SO worth it!
    3. It IS possible to get an amazing but less expensive dress.  Keep searching.
    4. There is a reason people go with traditional bridesmaid dresses…they are easy to match with the rest of the bridal party.  I went with just regular gowns from Nordstromâ€s and had to find out the hard way NOTHING comes in that color (coral!!!)
    5. DO NOT write anything about your registry on Save the Dates or Invitations….TACKY!  I thought this was a given (this advice is in every wedding book ever written…), but Iâ€m finding tons of people are making this mistake and it just rubs guests the wrong way.

  5. Okay, if you're out there, I realize we live in the most beautiful area on the planet and lots of folks come to US to get married as their "destination."  But are any of you out there going somewhere tropical?  We decided on Playa Del Carmen Mexico because we're both originally East Coasters and figured everyone would have to travel anyway.  We're saving a good $10,000 by NOT getting married in California!  Woo-hoo!  Give a shout out if you;re out there...

  6. I'm the first one of the July 2011 brides, with my date on Friday, July 1st at The Royal, Playa Del Carmen!
