  1. I am with you for everything in your OOT bag except for the hair conditioner....hopefully no one will forget theirs and even without having to buy any, the resort will provide that in the room.  Save that $$$ for something else.

I didn't actually get married there...got home last Wednesday..we were married at Azul Sensatori and switched to EDR for the week 2 for our honeymoon. We saw a couple of weddings there and everything looked absolutely gorgeous!

I was hoping to get some input on items you would or would not put in your OOT bags.

So far we have (all in mini travel sizes):

    - hand sanitizer

    - chapstick

    - aloe

    - sunscreen

    - deck of playing cards customized to our wedding theme (FI thinks this is stupid and wants normal cards, but I think its cute! Thoughts?)

    - Hangover kit items: Advil, Pepto tablets, Emergen-C

    - hair conditioner (FI doesnt get this one, but I forgot conditioner when i was at EDR and they only had expensive, huge bottles in the gift shop,

so I think the women would appreciate it)

    - Tic Tacs

    - Mini candles (my room was a little musty/humid so i thought it would be nice to have these to freshen up the room if needed)

    - canvas tote bags (my mother is painting our "wedding logo" that we used on our save the dates on each bag)

If anyone is doing OOT bags too, what items were you thinking of putting in there?

  2. Got back last Wednesday....we were at AS for 1 week with our families and friends for the wedding and 1 week at EDR for our Honeymoon...we could not have had a better time...Everything was amazing...everyone was crazy helpful..there were a couple of of little glitches....but now I am counting the days until we can go back....

We didn't have a private event...we did the dinner at Spoons...and it was perfect...food was delicious and even after all the awful cake horror stories..our cake was beautiful and so tasty!

We used Caribe (didn't have the hugest budget) and although it freaked me out a little..they were amazing also.  They did our wedding pics at AS and then we did a TTD at EDR the following week.....I have almost 1000 pictures posted on Facebook...so if anyone wants to see them...PM me so I can friend you.

If anyone has any questions, let me know...

Again...we were super simple and casual....and I loved every single second...I will eventually post a review but until I actually get around to it, ask me anything :)

I saw a few other weddings at both resorts while we were down there...although EDR was absolutely gorgeous, I would not have wanted our wedding there....AS was absolutely the perfect place for us!

  3. I've been MIA for a long time....but I'm getting married 2 weeks from today and am so excited I don't even know what to do...I have pretty much everything done...we will have 24 total with us...not doing a private event ..just the Spoons dinner.  I pick my dress up on the 2nd and we fly down on the 8th.  Will anyone be there the 8th through the 15th?  15th we move to EDR for a honeymoon week.

Congratulations to all the new brides...this is the most stressful and fun time you will ever have..Good luck to all of you!!!

  4. I am actually getting married at Azul Sensatori and switching to EDR for Honeymoon week 2..so I kind of lurk on this thread.  But...too funny...your dress is MY dress :) AND...your BM dress..is MY BM dress (except in Wisteria).  So..jiust wanted to say I think you have AMAZING taste :)

The dinner said that we would have four hours of bar, so we are going to skip the cocktail hour and go straight to dinner. Our original plans were to go out afterwards bc of not having such a huge party. I am thinking about bringing something to where my ipod can connect to and having our own music and first dance. We are having our reception in the Tucanes Bar. I loved the beach idea but I was scared of rain if any and the Salon Dorado is just not my style. Our wedding is very simple and flowy ( not sure if that makes sense) haha. Colors are coral and turquoise. Below is our dresses. I plan on wearing some blings turquoise sandals because I am already 5'9". My sister n law told me something last night was a huge wake up call. She told me that she doen't look at her pics regreting the things she didn't do. Everyone remembers it as being a fun time, not what the centerpieces looked like. The beach is enough to take your breath away. Canadian Lydnsey said the same thing above. Makes me feel so much better about things.

It seems like more and more people are opting for the bride and groom to have their own table. If you chose this, how did you arrange the wedding party and your parents?

We're debating wheter or not this is a good option, I have my little sister in my wedding party and I feel like she woud be bored sitting with the adults at the front. Any opinions are welcome!

  6. Are you sure Claudia is included on the preferred list?  Last I checked she was preferred, but only at El Dorado....not Azul...I would LOVE to use her...do you have anything in writing that says that?

    Please let me know :)

I'm using Claudia Rodriguez photo-anyone worked with her? She is one of the preferred vendors that wasn't on the original list. We are thinking of getting the mariachi band for the cocktail hr.  Wer using a DJ, whatever one the resort recommends.

Lomas and flowers: Okay so I looked at the lomas website and I think I picked out my bouquet (im going to order shells and a few real touch flowers from etsy.com to add to the bouquet)  But I am not impressed with their centerpieces. Is it me or are they totally overpriced?? 3 glass vases for 100 to rent??? I think Im better off going to the dollar store. Anyone have any ideas for original but not costly centerpieces?

Oh forgot my main question: anyone know the table dimentions? for the round tables?

    Thanks! :)

  7. Hey Everyone...

I have been MIA for the last few months..it's crazy how many new brides are on here...Welcome and congratulations to all of you :)  I took the last few months off due to all kinds of craziness and stress over $$$...but am VERY happy to say that I am back full on wedding..and as of next week everything will be bought and paid for.  We're doing extremely simple...nothing over the top...not even doing a private ceremony other than the Spoons Dinner...hoping for about 30 people total (a lot more were invited...but mostly out of obligation...there wasn't a chance of them coming..which was pretty much just how i wanted it :) Tonight I bought my TTD dress....I've been a shopping freak lately..buying up all kinds of summer sale stuff..and all I really have left to buy is the stuff for the Welcome Bags..and these really freaking awesome shoes that I soooo don't need..but will totally be buying anyway....

4 months from today we will be in Mexico....I am so excited to be excited again!!!!!

  8. I started making my programs last night and I love them!! I ordered my paper from cutcardstock.com. I found a free template online.  programs.jpg

I also opted to do a postcard instead of a welcome booklet. I got them from vistaprint and i only had to pay for shipping. Much easier.  postcard.jpg

We are all set for our legal ceremony on 10/13 and I can't wait!!

What do the postcards say? I love them and that seems so much simpler than a whole welcome booklet
  9. Thanx :)

I lost 29.8 lbs total...but I also had the most to lose! (and still hoping to lose at least another 20 (hopefully 30) before next February....

So....if anyone wants in for another season..I am more than happy to host...and this time I (hopefully) will actually post more tips and recipes....just a lot of crap went down the last few weeks....I was fired (completely unfairly!!!!! and waiting to hear from a lawyer...but don't think there is really anything that can be done about it)...found out my house is infested with freaking mold...and have had insurance peeps and mold people in and out to determine what they have to do...and still waiting to hear...but can't be in the bedrooms...so...we now sleep on a blow up mattress in  the living room..it's insane!

And...i started a new job today...which seems pretty good so far....

And....tiny secret only for this forum....FI and I are legally getting married on Friday...even tho mexico isn't for months and months :) My mom and 1 friend will know (as witnesses) but it will be secret for everyone else...

We have a vacation planned in May to go to Tennessee...and now it is going to be our Secret Honeymoon :)

So...that's what's been going on in my life.....just thought i'd share....

We are back and have tons to tell you.  Most of you if not all know about the drama that took place four days before we left for our wedding.  Long story short we booked AS in 2009 and had paid in full and had 34 guest traveling and they call me the Friday before we left ( we flew out on wed.) and told us the resort was over booked and sold out.  We talked with karisma, destination weddings, and our TA for the next 3 days trying to figure everything out.  The bottom line was they were moving us whether we liked it or not.  Highly upset, tears for days but i put on the happy face and headed to Mexico.

We arrive at AB  on Wednesday afternoon and 4 couples arrived an hour ahead of us.  They resort is nice but ladies they sat me down and told me they had to move me and some of my group again and immediately busted into tears and they were so sweet but boy was i devastated.  They consoled me and promised me that everything was for the better and that now that i was at the resort they would do everything to make this the wedding event of my dreams.

The AB has updated rooms which were fabulous and every room had an awesome view.  The updates were so modern and clean lined and we were happy with our swim-up suite the first night we were there.  So the next morning we meet the managers and wedding coordinators.  They were wonderful ladies (LOMAS) and they took me through  the entire wedding details step by step.

Long story short.......Everything was beautiful.  The resort moved me and 5 other guest rooms into Azul Villa Carola.  It was AMAZING!!!!!!  We moved family over to the villa that was there for the longest stay.  We were worried about privacy but we had all the privacy we needed.  The villa had huge master suits with private out door and indoor Jacuzzis, The bath room was almost as big as the regular junior suite at AS ( one couple was not moved to AB so they gave us entry into AS whenever we wanted during our stay to visit with them).  The villa had two floors each fully equipped with full kitchens and living room plus one master suite and two bedrooms each with a private bathroom and patio space.  The villa had its own main butler( MANUEL the sweetest guy ever) that handled everything!  We had private 24 hr. security and maid service, room service and so much more.  We lived like kings and queens.

If you want an intimate and private event this is the place.  The wedding ceremony was on the beach in front of the villa.  The beach was ten times better than AS at this spot.  We had the reception on the back lawn of the villa.  We had the areas to dance and party all night long.  Without interfering with the other guest of the resort.  we partied until 2 am.  The bar staff stayed late, the head chef prepared the food on site in the main downstairs kitchen.  The food was amazing! I just can go on and on but ladies they really did make my wedding everything i wanted and ten times more than i could have ever imagined.  The photographer was so sweet and wonderful.  MANY MANY thanks to Ivan Luckie!  It was a fairy tale ending!  As soon as I have pics I will post them.  Thank you for your prayers and support ladies.  It did all turn out to be better than i could have ever planned.  My husbands daughter now my daughter.... AWWW had a ball.  We were laughing and talking last night about how wonderful her private pool was and the tasty chocolate milkshakes Manuel brought her everyday at lunch!!  we need to all go on a diet.  I was very grateful and blessed.  I did the diamond massage bridal package at AS because the spa at AB was not fully updated yet but it was amazing highly suggest that service.  AS spa was superb.  OH.... i call it a blessing because AS had 16 weddings during my stay.  The Spa was on overloaded with brides and bridesmaids and grooms.  So being moved to AB made my wedding very personal.  We were the only wedding during our entire weeks stay.  They put a private message in the front lobby for me and Ozzie everyday and AB put our wedding events on the resort itinerary so guest knew ahead of time which restaurants would be closed for private events and where to watch the wedding.  So the entire resort was applauding and looked for us everyday.  OK once i have pics i will explain more.  Azul Beach and Azul Carola is an A++++++++++ in my book!

  17. 351 Days to go :)  We got engaged May 29, 2010...it seemed like FOREVER then....now...not so much...

You're just a few months away...you must be so excited! How long have you been planning?
